is ick to say the least! We used to have an aunt who went in for lip smackers which required a strategic twist of the head at the last minute. Sorry, I find it yuck. (I love kissing my children and hugging them lots)

There was a terrible train crash yesterday, so what is today's click bait
Ye Gods a mother kissing her daughter on the lips.
That is not worth a second thought, don't sweat the small stuff and use your energies to help people.

Madbengalmum · 13/07/2016 16:21

I personally find kissing your child on the cheek very cold and would only do that with friends. I still kiss my mother and did my grandmother on the lips.
Different strokes for different folks.
Pointless thread!

allinp0ems · 13/07/2016 16:22

No Thorn, icky doesn't imply 'a person still thinks like a bloody toddler'

Look it up in the dictionary. It means unpleasant, nasty or distastefully sentimental.

snorepatrol · 13/07/2016 16:23

I saw this opinion circulating on Facebook too. Personally I think its ick / disheartening / pathetic / infuriating, that we live in a society where a mother is berated on social media for kissing her child.

Thankfully most of the posters on this thread have reassured me that there are some sensible people left in the world.

catgirl1976 · 13/07/2016 16:24

I think it's lovely. I gt big snotty, sloppy smackers from DS all the time. It's lovely.

I get that some people don't kiss their family but I don't get why they care that others do.

MWAH OP XXXXX

I know what it means, it's obvious, but I've never heard a grown up use it.

WreckingBallsInsideMyHead · 13/07/2016 16:27

I stupidly hoped this would be To think that VB kissing her daughter on the lips.... Is not news?

I wouldn't kiss family on the lips. I would be uncomfortable with anyone kissing someone on the lips if that person is not happy with it.

But a mother and daughter peck is nothing for anyone to get their knickers in a twist over!

goldface · 13/07/2016 16:27

I can't say for sure but I'm pretty certain there's a few things going on in the world a bit more 'icky' then a loving mother sharing an affectionate moment with her daughter.

OliviaStabler · 13/07/2016 16:28

YABU. It is a kiss from a Mother to a Daughter.

Thornrose · 13/07/2016 16:29

I don't need a dictionary maybe you need a thesaurus to come up with a better word! Grin

StrangeLookingParasite · 13/07/2016 16:31

Guess i find it strange because my parents wouldn't have done it so it's not normal behaviour.

Oh of course. Your parents and your family are completely the arbiters of normal.

Jeez Louise.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 13/07/2016 16:33

It's not ick. HTH.

Teapot101 · 13/07/2016 16:34

Normal to me. Apologies for being brought up wrong!

Hadenoughoftumble · 13/07/2016 16:36

Seriously?!

I understand that not everyone kisses their dc on the lips but I never in a million years thought that anyone on the planet would find it 'icky' or distasteful in any way! It is simply showing affection! And that is all that VB is doing for god's sake. I can't believe this is even being discussed.

I personally was never hugged/kissed growing up, we were a close family but just didn't show affection in a physical way. I, on the other hand, am constantly kissing dd- on the lips, on the cheek, on the forehead, everywhere!

Thornrose · 13/07/2016 16:37

You sound like my teen when she says "I didn't ask to be born!" apolgies for being brought up wrong Grin

hastheworldgonemad · 13/07/2016 16:38

What a wierd post.

The Beckhams are obviously a lovely family and to put dirty fingers into other people's happy lives says more about you op than about them.

You need to look at yourself and change.

NedStarksHead · 13/07/2016 16:38

So is it weird that I still kiss my mum on the lips at 23????

alltouchedout · 13/07/2016 16:39

Of course YABU. The only 'ick' here is in the minds of the steaming weirdos who think a parent kissing their child's lips is somehow wrong.

bigbuttons · 13/07/2016 16:42

nedstark you are clearly a perv

My 10 year old dd must be a bit pervy too.
OP I think you need to re-evaluate your views.

PaintedDrivesAndPolishedGrass · 13/07/2016 16:43

Lip kisses ( pecks) for those you love, cheek kisses for everyone else. Full on snogs are a different bucket of frogs and only shared with DP 😀

BolshierAryaStark · 13/07/2016 16:49

This again? Hmm
Personally I think the people who find kissing your child on lips odd are the odd ones.

LaConnerie · 13/07/2016 16:53

The Beckhams are obviously a lovely family

Really?

But then I suppose people are starting to forget about the business with their 'personal assistant'...

LilacSpunkMonkey · 13/07/2016 16:54

And that's relevant to their relationships with their children how?

LaConnerie · 13/07/2016 16:55

Dunno. But it's relevant to them being a 'lovely family'.
