is ick to say the least! We used to have an aunt who went in for lip smackers which required a strategic twist of the head at the last minute. Sorry, I find it yuck. (I love kissing my children and hugging them lots)

Huh?

Such an odd thread. She's a mum kissing her little girl. On the lips. What's the problem?

In what world is this news?? Especially compared to all the political shenanigans going on in the UK at the moment? It's a non-story.

This is nothing like brexit - everyone else is saying fuck off with your opinion because it's not your business, you're the one judging her actions and saying she shouldn't do what she's doing because it makes you uncomfortable.

Everyone else is saying live and let live. Which funnily enough was no ones reaction to brexit.

sonlypuppyfat · 13/07/2016 15:56

Wait wait we need to know what teapot thinks, this is getting really silly now. It is perfectly normal to kiss a child on the lips to think otherwise is odd

Teapot101 · 13/07/2016 15:56

The Guardian, mail and BBC news. Thought it was a current question.

Standing down. Did not mean to cause such offence actually was just raising a discussion. Clearly on my own. I'm OK with that. x

So why start a thread about how "ick"" it is then if you acknowledge that infact it is your personal association that it is a sexual act and not actually a societal association?

I don't know what you expected the threads response to be by effectively slagging off a mother who was showing her love for her child.

Really? Hmm

LilacSpunkMonkey · 13/07/2016 16:03

Hmm for the OP.

YeOldMa · 13/07/2016 16:04

My DM was always telling me off for kissing my babies on the lips. As far as she is concerned you are likely to transmit germs or spread cold sores. I carried on with them and my GC (as long as it was ok with their parents) but I'd have thought it was an individual thing...provided the child didn't object. I would never hug, kiss or touch a child who didn't want to even if their parents insists because I want them to be in control of their own body's as one of my GD's says!

NickiFury · 13/07/2016 16:04

You have very weird thought processes, get some help with that before you pass it onto your kids.

Thornrose · 13/07/2016 16:05

Your view that it's sexual says more about you than VB.

BastardGoDarkly · 13/07/2016 16:06

My ds does, and always has, offered his head for a kiss! Even as a 10 month old! My dd though would kiss me on the lips wether i liked it or not sooooo.

I think someone calling a kiss between a mother and her 5 year old, sexual is 'ick' in the extreme.

Mummyme1987 · 13/07/2016 16:09

Seriously unless she French kissed her with tongue then it's not ick but perfectly normal.

stiffstink · 13/07/2016 16:09

My DS(4) kisses everyone on the lips, he's very kissy. He even kissed the health visitor once. I warn people in advance now that he'll go for the lips.

allinp0ems · 13/07/2016 16:12

OP I suggest you ignore all the trying-to-be-funny-(and failing) put-down responses. It's worse than the worst bitchy clique at school.

I also find it icky. Always have done.

eryri · 13/07/2016 16:13

I have 5 dc - only kiss one on the lips - because she always turns her head to catch my lips at the last minute! So lip kissing dc not a default for me but I don't have a problem with it either.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 13/07/2016 16:15

Oh, hi Sockie!

Thornrose · 13/07/2016 16:16

"Icky" implies a person that still thinks like a bloody toddler. Use your words...

Ginkypig · 13/07/2016 16:17

After my last post the only thing I feel I should clarify is.

I have no problem kissing children on the lips as long as they want to.

Children should have control over their own body's.
