Sitting on bench on station platform. Have carefully placed full cup of coffee beside me. Train comes in. Lady beside me gets up, and as she does so her shoulder bag swings and hits my coffee, terminally. She's very apologetic and offers to get me another on the train. I'm very annoyed but say no, they only do nasty coffee on trains, it's fine, these things happen. She insists and says she'll bring me a coffee and asks for my carriage number, which I tell her.
Now I'm feeling bad because she was so nice about it and perhaps it was my fault for putting it down on the bench. Am I a snarky twat or does she owe me a coffee?

yabu… benches are never for cups of hot liquid. She was very kind to offer

Eminado · 13/07/2016 15:14

Gosh OP YABU and quite rude to posters - get yourself a coffee asap I think!

EttaJ · 13/07/2016 15:15

OP you're hilarious. Don't want honest opinions from lots of different people? Don't bloody ask. As for small child and first class...

snorepatrol · 13/07/2016 15:20

Bit of a poor effort op. Try being a bit more goady next time Hmm

FoggyBottom · 13/07/2016 15:22

Or a small child

Oh is that what we have to do now? If we knock something over, we have to give the person a small child? If we just bump into someone, would a kitten do?

StVincent · 13/07/2016 15:31

Haha! Well on a practical level if she's realised you're in first class she may think she's not entitled to come in there.

But really, she probably thought it was an empty cup left on the seat if she noticed it at all. Who puts a full cup of coffee on a bench where anyone could sit on it?

AgathaF · 13/07/2016 15:40

Snarky indeed. Are you normally so bad-tempered, is today a particularly difficult day?

Okay377 · 13/07/2016 15:42

Still don't understand why you would accept her offer to buy you a coffee on the train if you're sitting in first class and get one for free? You say they're both vile so now you have unlimited free vile coffee plus an extra vile coffee assuming she spends her cash on you, I wouldn't

MozzieRocks · 13/07/2016 15:55

Stealth boast Hmm or not so stealth attempt

Stormtreader · 13/07/2016 16:01

"what if it had been a small child instead of the coffee cup?"

I love these! "I didnt get the answer I wanted so I'll try the 'what if it had been a CHILD?' card".

"I had to wait for 10 minutes!!"
"Well yes, people have to wait."
"What if I'd had a SICK CHILD waiting for me?!" Grin

PaulInHolland · 13/07/2016 16:06

If the coffee cup is too hot to hold, could you ask the barristas to double cup it for you? Or even get a thernos cup?

BTW-a bench is a stupid place to put a cup of coffee,so YABU

WelleWell · 13/07/2016 16:12

I think you have an addiction and you need to address it.
Caffeine is a gateway drug you know Grin

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 13/07/2016 16:16

It would have been indeed awful had it been a small child.

The mind boggles as to how the barista managed to confuse it with a soy latte, write "MotherBluestocking" on it with a felt tip own and charge 3,59 for it.

FoggyBottom · 13/07/2016 20:39

what if it had been a small child instead of the coffee cup?

The OP is Andrea Leadsome: What if it had been children?

And the woman who offered her a replacement coffee is Theresa may, who doesn't have children and so has no stake in the future of ... good coffee
