To celebrate that the FTSE 250 has virtually recovered

sandrabedminster · 11/07/2016 19:47

The sky hasn't fallen down, everything is still good and the FTSE 250 is pretty much back where it was before brexit vote.

As all of us smart brexiters said, a few weeks of uncertainty and then things will recover and go from strength to strength.

Brexit hasn't happened yet... Let's wait and see how things go after we actually leave before we get to optimistic...

Eyelashcurler · 11/07/2016 20:27

*Too (always check spelling before posting smart arse comments...)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/07/2016 20:27

So I've just googled Lush - no jobs are being lost in Poole Confused.

Turtlemeter · 11/07/2016 20:29

Oh fuck off. We're fucked. The nail in the coffin will be when Europe makes an example out of us.....

shinynewusername · 11/07/2016 20:29

Lush gives me a headache

Excellent - so we only want jobs if 100% of the population likes the product concerned? I don't know why I"m worried - the Brexit vote was clearly made on the basis of sound financial and economic understanding Hmm

Lush made £23m last year so will have paid about £1m in direct tax. It has over 100 stores, all of which will have employees paying income tax and all sales will generate VAT. But, hey, fuck them because they give one smart Brexiter a headache.

WellErrr · 11/07/2016 20:30

All you Brexiters agreeing with her. Well done.

This is the kind of sneering we can all do without.
I do not think that the sky is falling in and I obviously think it's good that the FTSE is up.

But that doesn't mean that I agree with the MILF thread Hmm

HoneyDragon · 11/07/2016 20:30

Oh the despicable things I could tell you about Lush and their willingness to displace ethics to cut costs

LilacSpunkMonkey · 11/07/2016 20:32

Because there's no sneering on this thread or any of the others from the Leavers WellErr?

All coming from the Remainers is it?

Novia · 11/07/2016 20:32

Yabu... And a fucking idiot if you think this shit storm is over!

shinynewusername · 11/07/2016 20:33

So Lush who make such a big deal about being a 'caring' company are happy for all their UK employees to lose their jobs?

What bit of "Brexit will lead to many global companies leaving the UK?" didn't you understand when you voted?

But calling them nasty will definitely change their minds.

WellErrr · 11/07/2016 20:33

It has over 100 stores, all of which will have employees paying income tax and all sales will generate VAT. But, hey, fuck them because they give one smart Brexiter a headache

And more lovely sneering and attitude.

Who mentioned Lush closing down all their shops? I certainly haven't heard that.

But I'm not going to sob too much if they do FTFO completely as I disagree with them on moral grounds. Which is my right. And I've been boycotting them for years - long before I was a stoopid brexiter.

HoneyDragon · 11/07/2016 20:33

I'm not sneering at anyone btw. Except a little bit at Lush

Sallyingforth · 11/07/2016 20:36

Brexit isn't over yet. It hasn't even started.

Today's or tomorrow's or next month's transient values are meaningless.

But as a smart person you'd know that wouldn't you?

If I"m sneering, it is not at people objecting to Lush - as it happens, I think their products stink too. It is at the idea that we can do without companies like Lush. The eye-watering naivety of thinking that we can afford to run the economy on companies that everyone agrees are 100% ethical.

Lush is just the beginning. All the big financial sector companies are gearing up to off-shore. And yes, they are nasty bankers and the world would be a much better place if we had fewer bankers and more nurses. But unfortunately, we need bankers and retailers of over-perfumed bath bombs to pay nurses.

Eyelashcurler · 11/07/2016 20:47

Not all who work in finance are "nasty bankers". Some are average earners, just trying to make a living. And the uncertainty of Brexit will likely affect them more than the "nasty" ones at the top Sad

Idiotxit · 11/07/2016 20:47

As all of us smart brexiters said, a few weeks of uncertainty and then things will recover and go from strength to strength

Grin at 'Smart Brexiter' Grin

Swiftly followed by evidence of Not Getting It At All, which seems to trouble many 'Smart' ` Brexiters.

HoneyDragon · 11/07/2016 20:47

They market themselves as 100% ethical though so they are staying on my laminated shit list. And they've been talking about relocating it all to Germany for a long time.

HoneyDragon · 11/07/2016 20:49

Again I'm not swaying either side of this argument btw.

We have have plenty of non uk citizens working for us, they have contracts and they will be staying with us.

sandrabedminster · 11/07/2016 20:50

So remainders don't understand the 250 or can even read a press release accurately, yet its the brexiters that are stupid Hmm

Lush said any new factory's may be opened in Germany and there will be no uk job loses.

The pound is surging vs the euro. Back to 2013 levels. And when there is the next eurozone crisis, and there will be, it will probably go beyond where is was before the vote

OP posts:
Dapplegrey2 · 11/07/2016 20:51

'Jones said no jobs in Britain would be under threat. But staff at the Poole plant - which has 1,400 workers of 38 nationalities - were being offered the chance to fill vacancies in the Duesseldorf factory.'

So according to a Lush director British jobs won't be lost.
I don't think that a company which tried to put farmers out of business is ethical.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/07/2016 20:51

But they are staying in Poole. People can relocate to Germany if they want to. The Poole factory will still make all the UK stuff. It's an overdramatic Storm in a teacup.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 11/07/2016 20:51

Honey you're so goady Grin

Idiotxit · 11/07/2016 20:52

Is there a connection between being a 'Smart Brexiter' and feeling empowered by Milfmoney?
