To say no to ex DH?

Ex DH has the kids on holiday just now. They fly back through the night and arrive in the UK at 7.55 on Tuesday. He asked me to fly to London to get them. I agreed and took the day off work.
He hasn't booked the flights and they are now really expensive or full. The only options are either flying down at 7am, spending 8/9 hours in Gatwick and flying home....or taking the kids and a fortnight's worth of luggage across London and on a train for 5 hours. I have said no to these.
He says he is working on Tuesday afternoon and can't bring them home. I am seriously
But, AIBU?

I have told him that I am not flying down to wait 8 hours so he doesn't have to. The result is he is bringing the children home. I have to drive to the next city t get them, but could be worse. Thanks for all the advice.

Good on you for standing firm. Bringing the children home has inconvenienced him so next time he'll make the arrangements he'd previously agreed to put in place. Goodness only knows how bad he'd be in the future if you had caved into his demands.

Both kids will need to be assisted by someone over 16 so if he doesn't arrange for you and the kids he will need to bring them back himself.

Glad it worked out. I'm surprised at posters suggesting it's only a coach between airports.

It's not the op's holiday, why on earth should she deal with tired children, coaches, luggage and flights all to sort her ex's problem.

Plus as it wasn't booked as a transfer how would she have answered when they asked at the airport if she packed all the bags herself.
