To want to bleach my vagina!

About a month ago my sons teacher informed me he had an itchy bottom! It could well be that he hadn't wiped properly after pooing (he's only 5yrs) but as a precaution I wormed us both (and re-treated 2weeks later).

Last week he was itching again. Checked for worms and saw white bits on his bottom, could have been worms, could have been bits of tissue from wiping. Again I treated us both. Two nights ago my bum itched, could have been a normal itch but in a panic I treated myself AGAIN. In the process I've given myself cystitis. Anyway now I've done the worst thing and Googled and read they can move to the vagina ..... WTAF, vagina worms! I'm completely freaking out, it's bad enough to think they may be in my bottom but in my vag, urgh, AIBU to want to bath my bits in bleach?! Headlice I could deal with but worms, hell no! I've turned into a paranoid monster insisting on handwashing every hour and cleaning everything a million times.

Can someone tell me it's normal to feel so freaked out by worms? I'm worried we won't get rid of them (that's if they are indeed there).

Thank God for ovez after the childhood horror that was prispen. A whole glass of medicine flavoured milk. What sadistic bastard invented that shit?

Orda1 · 08/07/2016 22:47

I have no idea what worms are and this thread has horrified me ha!

My house and its occupants has never been cleaner than when Dd brought worms home from nursery.

We all showered morning and night every day - new clothes and bedsheets every day, cleaned anything I could, chucked toothbrushes and got new ones with lids, washed our hands obsessively and each had our own hand towel.

I cried when I realised she had them and was a bit ridiculous about it all but the thought of them makes me feel disgustingly sick.

Used meds too obviously.

You can take a tape test to your doctor, save you from flashing your bum hole. Stick a piece of clear tape over your bumhole for a few minutes. If you have worms they will stick to the tape (as well as the larvae). It's a medical test, honest.

I wish id never read this now.
Itchy EVERYWHERE and debating asking Dh to check butt when he gets home from work tonight.

gamerchick · 08/07/2016 23:21

You don't need to go to a doctor for threadworms.

Oh god prispin, I remember that nightmare Grin

Assquatch · 08/07/2016 23:24

DO NOT STICK GARLIC UP YOUR BUM Grin

carelesswhisper27 · 08/07/2016 23:31

Eurgh I feel for you OP. The same thing happened to me a few years ago although I actually did have them round the bum, did some googling and nearly passed out when I read they could move between the two! Shock I nearly threw up every time I thought of it!

carelesswhisper27 · 08/07/2016 23:32

Oh and you definitely can get rid of them! Don't worry! Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 08/07/2016 23:42

Fairy I was going to say exactly the same thing!

And I remember who it was, but I ain't saying Wink

Thanks for the support everyone, I've turned into a real clean freak (not that I was filthy before you understand)! We've been bathing/showering 2/3 times a day, I must have washed my hands about 40 times yesterday (no joke). Everyday I'm scrubbing/bleaching/vacuuming etc. Last night I read that putting Vicks Vaporub around the anus helps so I did it, OUCH the burn, but still I used it. I'm off to the shops later with a worm ridding shopping list of garlic, carrot, pineapple and pumpkin seeds.

I've not had another itch but still I feel I must be infected (this really could all be in my head?). My 5yr old is living in fear of having an itch because I'm inspecting him, washing him and getting him to change his pants every 5 minutes but after reading peoples horror stories about having them for YEARS and not being able to get rid of them I figure it's best to be OTT and do EVERYTHING now rather than wait until they're crawling out of my eyes, ears and mouth. One person even said they had them in their hair FFS!

Also bought a load of surgical masks to use when changing bedding and cleaning. My mum thinks I've completely lost the plot Grin

I cried when I realised she had them and was a bit ridiculous about it all but the thought of them makes me feel disgustingly sick. - it's not ridiculous at all, I've been in tears too (although largely due to the amount of fucking washing and bedchanging involved). Seriously though, the thought that these little wankers are inside me just makes me heave, they are (I think) in there shagging, pooing, peeing and laying eggs, all inside and around my body.

That poem is absolutely awesome!
Ovex definitely need to use it in their next ad campaign!

It's really hard, isn't it?
I get really paranoid about parasites - whether it be worms, nits or bedbugs.
For ages I was convinced I had thread worms, and kept thinking I could see them - always turned out to be bits of loo roll etc.

I nearly cried when I read the "infected for life" thing online. But if it helps any, the worms don't reproduce inside you - they lay the eggs outside your anus and you basically have to reinfect yourself regularly to keep them going as they have a really short lifespan.
Plus I think you'd know if you had them sooner or later, as I remember the itch being maddening when I had them as a kid. I wanted nothing more than to drag my arse around the floor like a dog.

Unfortunately the weight loss isn't true with thread worms - in fact I think they cause bloating.
