To think about joining the Conservative Party

(Even though I disagree with almost everything they stand for?)

I grew up in a not well-off household and my values were always very left-wing (fiercely so)

I can't even believe I am thinking of joining the Tories, but I want a say in who is next PM.

Guessing she's more unelectable than May so I'd vote for her. ;o) Shame Gove fell by the wayside. He'd have been a disaster for them

He'd have been much more of a disaster for the rest of us.

Prime ministers not being leader of the party at the time of an election winning a majority is common and covers 10 out of the last 36 years.

Well obviously. But that doesn't make it right or something we can't - under the shadow of Brexit - agitate to change.

It didn't matter so much when it was Gordon Brown. But this is a new scenario, given the fact the candidates - even the pro Remain one - are all promising to execute Brexit as 'the will of the people' - when it was just advisory and is clearly a pile of shit.

Ugh. They're both terrible people.

May wants to start eroding maternity rights (affects a lot of people) to protect 'small' business owners (not as many people). She also wants to erode our rights to privacy.

She's in charge of police and her husband happens to own GCHQ who happens to get government contracts which they then fail on.

Compared to the other one which has links to homophobic groups. It's like trying to pick between having a sleepover with Hannibal or Leatherface.

Although if they're both a pair of bastards, on the plus side, they should get the bum's rush at the next election.

If Corbyn doesn't go they won't

SouperSal · 08/07/2016 13:53

And the next election could be 4 years away!

Audeca · 08/07/2016 13:57

@peachpudding

I am a Tory member, we are normal humans, (voting TM) but also joined £3 Labour to get Corbyn elected. I never understood why Unions always give money to Labour when a lot of their members are conservatives.

That is disgusting behaviour Peach. You should be ashamed of yourself.

What you did is also against your own Party's rules btw.

Barbafamiily · 08/07/2016 14:13

I agree, with Audeca joining a party with the aim to bring that party down is a dreadful thing to do and doesn't help anyone. A democratic country needs parties that represent the people and if this has been meddled with then it is the structure of society that you are tampering with. This is not playground politics.

Most important word there is 'could'. Many believe it may also happen as early as October

Lailalee · 08/07/2016 14:37

LuisSuarezTeeth Join UKIP instead. I think they have some interesting issues - you mean like saying black people should go back to bongo land?

Bloody racists in a closet!

t4gnut · 08/07/2016 14:43

You'd really join the tories just to have a say in the 'who's the biggest neo Nazi fascistic arsehole' competition?

GiddyOnZackHunt · 08/07/2016 17:04

pink I thought Mr Theresa was Group 4 (G4S) rather than GCHQ. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this shower had quietly privatised that.
