secret do you have your own teenagers? I much prefer teens to younger children, especially toddlers

Mine are pretty well behaved most of the time although they have their moments and buy crap from the shop at 7am before school so they're judged They are always polite to people though and interestingly out of the very few people that stand up for me on public transport, it's 90% of the time a teen or young person.

  1. Ask them politely to move if they're really annoying you.
  2. Try again if it happens another time
  3. Pull lawn mower/rake/wheelbarrow/saw (whatever fits) into front garden asking for help while playing R4 or R3 on transistor.
  4. Cap wall with pointy tiles as suggested.
SabineUndine · 07/07/2016 20:01

I usually open a window wide (noisily) and people clear orf.

SecretNutellaFix · 07/07/2016 20:07

Please note I said Hated, not hate.

My own view has been coloured by my own experiences as a young child with teenage children living nearby- yes they scared me, yes they threatened me, yes on one occasion a teenager threatened by mother in front of me.

As a teenager, being assaulted by your peers on a regular basis isn't going to endear them to you is it? Being called a lesbian by older teens aged 12 because you didn't have a boyfriend . Having your bum pinched on your first day in secondary school by a group of boys three years your senior isn't intimidating? Being sexually assaulted aged fifteen by a boy two years older than you? So as I stated- at those times in my life I did hate them.
I don't like them very much now- I have the choice now to ignore and avoid groups of teenagers if I so wish.

Loving all the posts saying that it's fine and you should embrace the fact that they've chosen your property to sit on because obviously none of them have homes of their own where they could congregate
You've heard nothing yet, OP. What you should be doing is taking them out drinks and snacks, inviting them in for meals etc.
Hell no, that's not enough, you should move your family out and let the teenagers and their families move in rent free Grin
Ffs, mumsnet vs real life at its best Hmm

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 07/07/2016 20:21

Tell them to be careful cos you don't think the man from the council came so the nest of Mexican biting ants is still inside the wall.

sandrabedminster · 07/07/2016 20:23

I'm assuming lots of these replies are a joke?!

Thankfully after 10 mins it started to rain and they pissed off leaving a can of coke and a crisp packet... Chavs.

Irrelevant of age I would of been annoyed, id of defiantly got the hose pipe out if it was a load of boomers. Grin

And I'm just loving the thought of all these pensioners congregating outside people's houses and sitting on their walls of an evening. They'd get exactly the same response from me as the teenagers I'm afraid, fuck off and sit on your own wall.
Fwiw, I love teenagers, it was by far the best time of my dc's lives. But I will take no shit from them and that includes respecting other people's property.

Waffles80 · 07/07/2016 20:40

Chavs is so small minded.

For that alone I hope they return in rowdier form.

Sitting on someone's front wall when you're a teenager is not about 'disrespecting someone's property'.

It's about being a bit thoughtless as to how a home owner might feel about it.

That's why a polite word normally goes down well.

4/5/6/7/8/9/10 year olds are also often thoughtless.

Do the same people consider them to be little shits and chavs?

PurpleNurple69 · 07/07/2016 20:48

Years ago I told a couple of young lads to get off my wall which they did - all very polite etc. 2 seconds later I got them back when I spotted a bloody giant spider on my front door and asked them to get rid of it for me!

I'm so glad I didn't go out guns blazing!

I would most definitely tell them to clear off. The kid next door thinks of himself as a budding tennis player and often knocks his tennis balls into our garden. Today, it hit our car so I confiscated it off him and gave him a piece of my mind Wink

OnTheTurningAway · 07/07/2016 20:51

Someone I knew used to get annoyed about some older teenage boys/young men sitting on his front wall. As the "garden" was only a 1m wide strip, they would actually sit on his front door step too.

He was finally prompted to say something when he arrived home from work to find them having a barbecue on his doorstep. Grin Still makes me laugh...

HooseRice · 07/07/2016 20:53

If they're not being antisocial, leave them.

I had a group at the end of my garden a few Saturdays ago. Shock, horror they were smoking a joint.

I asked them if this was their Saturday night and they said, yes, pretty much, their was nowhere for them to go. I asked them nicely not to make a noise or mess and they offered me a toot of their joint. I declined, obv.

They were causing me no harm.

HooseRice · 07/07/2016 20:54

There was nowhere else to go Blush

NotYoda · 07/07/2016 20:58

Punkrocker

NotYoda · 07/07/2016 20:58
