Who's ice cream is it really?

DH and I are having a disagreement about ice cream.

Person A bought a 2 pack of gu desserts. They ate theirs and then person B offered to swap their dessert for a tub of ice cream that was already in the freezer and "belonged" to person A.

Person B then ate the gu dessert, having forgotten about the deal. They replaced the dessert the next day but as they only come in a two pack, they are the second dessert.

Who's is the ice cream now?
Person B thinks that their second dessert is irrelevant to the situation.

Needless to say, this is lighthearted!!

Person B. Second dessert is a boon for being kind and getting more Gu's.

Did you eat the ice cream too? now i really want dessert

Person B, as person B still swapped a dessert for the ice cream.

(Could you get two spoons and share the ice cream?)

A deal is a deal. The swap should be upheld.

B is right.

I think you should all buy more puddings.

B has no business forgetting the deal and eating the 2nd GUpud or even offering the swap in the first place

The icecream still belongs to A and B should work on their memory and pudding thieving. ;)

Person A argues that the ice cream is still theirs as they had equal amounts of GUpuds.

Person B argues that person A still got 2 GUpuds so the ice cream is theirs.

Though person B does admit that they should maybe have been made give up the ice cream as punishment for forgetting the deal...whilst finishing said tub of ice cream.

Are we talking Ben and Jerry's or tescos value vanilla? It makes a huge difference to my thought process.

Effectively you have agreed that tow Gu puddings is equal to one tub of icecream - that's the rate of exchange.

Therefore the tub of ice cream must always be swapped for two Gu's.

Ignore the first Gu episode - you had one each and the ice cream was forgotten.

Now you have two more Gu's if someone wants them both they need to swap for the icecream. If someone wants the ice cream, they have to swap for two Gu's. (I'd take the Gu's)

The ice-cream belongs to person B, but person A gets both the new GUpuds, otherwise you've both had equal amounts of GUpuds (2 each, which of course, would not be fair)

There is some bad maths on here. The exchange rate was not two GU puds for the ice cream, it was the last GU pud for the ice cream.

The fact there are now new GU puds is not relevant. Person B reneged on the original deal by eating the last pud, the ice cream now reverts to person A and belongs to A.

Is this a new GCSE maths problem?

It belongs to Person A. The Gu that was to be swapped was eaten so the swap was void. The two new Gu pots are a separate deal...one each.

So long as you both get your just desserts who cares?

Ice cream belongs to person A. Person B reneged on the deal and are the Gu. New Gu puddings should be divided one each.

Not enough information. What flavour ice cream? What brand? How big is the tub? What sort of gu puddings?

Come on Op, you know it's bad form to drip feed.

Depends when A expected to eat Gu pud. If on same night as Gu one, they eat too much pudding but have a right to feel B reneged on the deal to their disadvantage, as Gu pud was not available.

If the next night, Gu pud was available to A. They lost nothing, deal stands.

Remember that B paid for extra Gu puds. A got their pud, B gets their ice cream.

Fact that B ate 2 extra puds, which they paid for, is neither here nor there.

Please explain more clearly how the ice cream "belonged" to person A ? Had a previous deal been done, and previous desserts been swapped. What is their claim to ownership of the ice cream.
A person who leaves a tub of ice cream in the freezer for more than reasonable length of time cannot expect it to remain their for ever. Desserts have come and gone since then. I;d want to see the small print in the original contract for the ice cream.

Okay ice cream is caramel, a nice make but I forget which.

Deal was made the day after A ate the first one, A went to get the second one that evening and B had eaten it.

All puds and ice cream is now gone (puds were gone last week but the ice cream argument went on to today, when person B ate it)

Oh and ice cream had been bought as a treat by B, weeks before hand. B bought two tubs, one for each person and had finished their tub but A hadn't eaten theirs by the time of the deal (obviously).

And all money is shared it's just who actually brought them home from the shop!!

A was deprived of pud. B is a pisstaker.
