To not want Wimbledon to replace my favourite television show?

Apologies, first world problem here. So basically Wimbledon is replacing my favourite television show (which I REALLY want to see) DD loves it too and she's upset that it isn't on.

Wimbledon is once a year for two weeks. YABU.

FuriousFate · 01/07/2016 17:59

YANBU. It's the same with the football! Regular viewers get shafted because a minority want to celebrate kicking a ball into, or hitting a ball over, a net.

Samcro · 01/07/2016 18:00

I can normally suck up wimbledon
But add in football and tbh i might as well get rid of terestal tv

WankersHacksandThieves · 01/07/2016 18:04

Yes, I'm missing pointless too :(

Eeeek686 · 01/07/2016 18:08

I love tennis, especially Wimbledon, and it's on for 2 weeks a year - that's two weeks you have to miss your show, versus fifty weeks I don't get to see mine....

As I say to DD (3) - it's nice if everybody gets a turn, and yours lasts waaay longer than mine! Grin

AuldYow · 01/07/2016 18:09

I miss Pointless too but I love Wimbledon & it's only for two weeks Wink

WankersHacksandThieves · 01/07/2016 18:16

I don't mind the tennis being on, i just miss Pointless. I think I've seen them all now anyway - either that or I am getting sooooo fucking good at it....I suspect the former :o

BishopBrennansArse · 01/07/2016 18:16

Yeahbut if you watch Doctors that's been off a month already for footie, and with Wimbledon and the olympics won't be back until September! No fair!

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 01/07/2016 18:41

People being fit and active in a country slowly being overtaken by diabetes and obesity..... God, yes. Get it off the tv and a crapoy 'game show' or whatever pointless is, should clearly take precedence here!

WankersHacksandThieves · 01/07/2016 18:44

Oh lighten up Mum people aren't getting any fitter watching tennis than they are watching pointless.

WankersHacksandThieves · 01/07/2016 18:45

In fact even less so as Pointless only lasts half an hour, the tennis can be on for feckin ages.

nocoolnamesleft · 01/07/2016 18:49

YABU - much better than missing stuff because of sodding football.

alltouchedout · 01/07/2016 18:52

If you were complaining about golf or cycling or darts coverage I'd be with you but I love tennis so YABVVU ;)

SuffolkNWhat · 01/07/2016 18:59

IT'S. TWO. FUCKING WEEKS. OF. THE. YEAR!

(Turning into my mother)

MrsJoeyMaynard · 01/07/2016 19:00

Since when has watching sport on TV made anyone fitter or more active?

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 01/07/2016 19:04

Yes but it sets a better example and might.... Just might.... Inspire someone to go out and play it

Do you play tennis with your dc?

Naoko · 01/07/2016 19:12

For every one of you who doesn't use their tv in summer because of all the sports, there's someone like me who only uses their tv in summer because without the sports there's nothing I want to watch! You all get the rest of the year, let me have a few weeks of telly :o

ForalltheSaints · 01/07/2016 19:13

It is only two weeks of the year. As it is the only sport that seems to be covered on tv with equal time for the women and men's game, even less reason to complain. It's only five weeks or so until the football season starts again!

WankersHacksandThieves · 01/07/2016 19:15

Do you play tennis with your dc?

Nope, never was any good at it and anyway two 6 foot plus teenagers don't want to be seen playing tennis with their auld mum.

On a plus point, they haven't watched tv in years.
