I have an illogical fear of large empty swimming pools. It's totally irrational but I'd be too frightened to look at one let alone stand in it.

Traffic lights. And the sound of styrofoam being broken in half

Goodmum1234 · 30/06/2016 23:17

Holes in things after I once googled it after a post on here- yuk but can't stop looking!
Belly buttons! Hate mine being touched and stretched in pregnancy. It also doesn't help that I have a mole in mine which popped out once I was pregnant but has now thankfully gone back inside.

Stickers- I hate them. Often miss them on my child's uniform and the dirty mess that is left behind after washing drives me mad. Price labels on things. As a child I couldn't eat crisps or chocolate bars with a price label
Sticker attached without feeling sick.
I can only wear slippers on hard floors not carpet and remove them each and every time I walk from kitchen to lounge. I feel like I'm treading through dirt.

I'm bonkers obviously but glad to hear about all of you Grin

alphabook · 30/06/2016 23:21

I don't think anyone has said mine yet - big glass buildings. Particularly with high ceilings. Makes me feel really panicky.

crazybat · 30/06/2016 23:27

Primary school carpets (the nylon ones) especially the feeling of them after you have just washed your hands makes my hairs stand on end.

Feet out of the side of the bed. A man will come and chop my legs off.

Moths around a light

The hole one I'm not scared of but the clusters make me feel sick X

quencher · 30/06/2016 23:34

Dog fur. I can't touch dogs. I try to be polite sometimes but after touching I don't touch anything else until I wash my hand. I hate the feeling. It sends shivers down my spine. I can never have a dog or cats even though dh and every one else things am depriving our daughter.

Tape measure on the real. I run a mile when someone has to real it back. Am afraid it will cut me.

ClarkeyCat · 30/06/2016 23:37

Argh I forgot about labels! I am cringing even as I type the word. The satiny kind in clothes. If I accidentally touch one from someone's else's clothes I properly shudder and feel awful. I have googled it and couldn't find anyone else. I feel so alone! Grin

Cracks. In the ground, in skin, on the heels of feet Envy

Snowballtorch · 01/07/2016 00:02

My phobia is crustaceans, but mainly crabs or lobsters. Can't even look at pictures of them and I lose all self control if I see one. I think it's the legs. So pleased I don't live near the sea.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 01/07/2016 00:08

Cupid when you say you're scared of empty swimming pools. Do you mean empty of people or of both water and people

exWifebeginsat40 · 01/07/2016 06:08

swimming pool changing room floors make me want to vomit. I have to have flip flops on, and it's VERY difficult not to throw them out and get a new pair each time. towel etc is gingerly finger-tweezed into a bag and hot washed as soon as get home.

uuuurgh

muddypuddled · 01/07/2016 06:44

For me its if a knife has been put down so it's blade goes through the prongs of a fork. Makes me feel sick and my teeth stand on edge!!

potoftea · 01/07/2016 06:47

ladybirdbookworm I googled those images of derelict Pontins site and couldn't click into the photos as they were too scary, even looking at them in small size on my phone screen was too much when I got to the one of the swimming pool.
I love reading about other people's weirdness, it makes me feel less crazy, but lots of the things listed here make me feel sick just reading about them...anything bigger than I feel it should be... boats, churches, walls, gates. There are elaborate gates in an old estate on a quiet road nearby. If ever I'm alone driving it, I pull in and wait for another car to come along and then keep him in sight when I drive past. Because obviously a random person driving away from me can protect me from evil gates!

HoggleHoggle · 01/07/2016 06:54

Oh yes, another one for swimming pool changing room floors. Always sodden, always got a discarded used plaster flailing about somewhere.

Wincarnis · 01/07/2016 06:58

Egg white....especially the hard stringy bit (the chalaza)

Sumo wrestlers. I am always worried that they will 'pop out' of their loincloths

2ndSopranosRule · 01/07/2016 07:02

Pipe organs. The ones where the pipes are all over the church.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 01/07/2016 07:20

Wrists. The skin is too thin, why can I see all my veins?! I can't even put a watch on for the reason that I don't want to touch them!

cuntinghomicidalcardigan · 01/07/2016 07:32

The distance between UK and Australia! I have a friend who moved over there, every time I think if how far it is I feel sick and dizzy.
Also hate balloons, they squeak, they float about eerily and they're full of spit!
Spiders too... but that's not illogical Wink

poppym12 · 01/07/2016 07:44

Still water such as reservoirs and lakes, anything touching my throat (from the outside), big empty water tanks or pools, ladybirds.

cupidsgame · 01/07/2016 07:49

lighthouse I suppose it's both, it's the big empty pool with the steep slope. I don't think of people in it probably because there just wouldn't be any. But i still couldn't go in it even if it was filled with people.

Fear of spiders falling on me in the bath
Fear of being shot in a drive by

Sticklebricks

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 01/07/2016 08:04

Those are the main ones, but i have GAD and listing the things that scare me on a daily basis would be tiring to read Grin

poppym12 · 01/07/2016 08:08

Almost couldn't type my biggest one but I'm feeling very brave Grin

Inanimate objects with eyes.

TurquoiseCat · 01/07/2016 08:09

I also don't like cotton wool (only in wool form, buds and pads are fine), and I can't do squeaky pencils and similar.

My particularly weird ones are sky related - I get freaked out by some clouds (big white cumulus ones when it's really sunny so they look really solid) and also large snowflakes falling. I think I might be chicken licken thinking the sky might fall down!

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 01/07/2016 08:14

I have a friend who is scared of eyes. All eyes. I dont know how she functions.

cupidsgame · 01/07/2016 08:15

Another one here for the universe. The thought that the stars in the sky are billions of miles apart, and the fact of that there are more stars than grains of sand on earth......It's mind boggling and totally freaks me out when I think of the vastness of the universe.
