There should be Cat Wardens, cats should wear nappies or be kept inside!

Pregnant. Partner hardly home. Cat uses my front garden, back garden and PORCH as the preferred venue for his poo parades. It's gross and I can't pick it up as don't want to catch Toxoplasmosis. Feel pissed that I even have to. Parter pissed at having to go on poo collection duty when he gets back. Cat laws are needed!

OP posts:

As pests go, cats are far more annoying than squirrels although, quite unfairly, killing squirrels in my garden is perfectly legal but killing cats is not.

PunkrockerGirl · 27/06/2016 22:22

YABU. And very precious.
Wait till you have to repeatedly wipe dog shit off the wheels of your buggy (and your carpets because you've failed to notice said dog shit) then a bit of cat poo in your porch will become the least of your problems.

CantAffordtoLive · 27/06/2016 22:25

So what would have the cat owners do? Keep them indoor? In a cage. I accept that possibly the cat may not be a problem to its neighbours if it had the use of a cat tray but you cant blame the cat for that.

Just be grateful you don't live in Canada OP and have to content with roaming bears.

Magicpaintbrush · 27/06/2016 22:27

YANBU! Only this morning I was scooping up cat diarrhoea from the new turf in our front garden. We put grass down to replace gravel which was being used as a giant litter tray in the hope thee cat would lose interest. Getting diarrhoea off of grass is not easy, it's a horrible job.

Unfortunately the culprit only visits in the middle of the night so we are always asleep when it poos all over our garden. I resent picking up fetid stinking piles of turd belonging to someone else's pet, and it makes me angry that an area of my home has turned into a sewer and nothing seems to work to make them stop.

Maybebabybee · 27/06/2016 22:29

Yawn.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 27/06/2016 22:30

You can buy cat repellent granules from pet shops. I know it shouldn't be YOU buying it but it might deter whatever cat is choosing your garden.

I have three cats who use a litter tray and never leave my garden. I wish they would use the garden as it would be easier. I hate litter trays.

It keeps things simple though and I dont have to worry that they are annoying my neighbours.

GemmaTeller2 · 27/06/2016 22:58

Poonami is my favourite word now!
But yeah, gloves and repellent should do the trick! Nasty buggers cats are! Feel for you!

Maybebabybee · 27/06/2016 23:11

They're not "nasty buggers"

They have no understanding of where they should and should not poo. They're animals ffs. How are they supposed to know they shouldn't poo in your garden??

Middleoftheroad · 27/06/2016 23:16

DP has (reluctantly) watched all 6 seasons with me. When Cersei was crowned he said: "so do that lot (the Lannisters) hate The Starks then?" Priceless!

Noticed on re watch that so many characters are decked out in black this episode. Not unusual for Starks or those in mourning, but even Dany wears two different black outfits.

Middleoftheroad · 27/06/2016 23:17

Whoops meant for Game of Thrones thread Grin sorry!

laurenwiltxx · 28/06/2016 00:53

Spray with lemon water cats don't like tg zesty smell and wont use it. Sadly animals are animals and will shit

londonrach · 28/06/2016 07:08

How much lemon per water and would it hurt cats and plants?

gruffalo13 · 28/06/2016 07:13

Indoor only cat here at our place.
No problem.

I cant understand why people let them out at the mercy of traffic, cat poachers and disease 😥

throwingpebbles · 28/06/2016 07:36

Yanbu!!!
It's disgusting! And no better when you have kids and want them to play in the garden but all the neighbours cats have turned it into a giant toilet Angry

Maybebabybee · 28/06/2016 07:38

gruffalo my two are indoor too but that would not work for all cats - it would be cruel to keep some indoors. My mum's cat would go bonkers without fresh air and freedom.

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2016 07:49

Ooh a cat poo thread, it must have been time. Have we had anyone post a picture of a gun yet?

I would love to be a Cat Warden.

Mycatsabastard · 28/06/2016 08:03

Out of my three cats only one poos outside, the other two come home and use the litter tray. Boy cat was a stray before being picked up by an animal rescue place and then getting adopted by dp nearly 14 years ago. I'm not sure we could get him to use the tray now and I'm certainly not going to keep him locked up. He's used to a wander round the neighbourhood.

I really don't like the threats of violence made towards cats on these threads. They are someone's pet and people think it's ok to talk about hurting them :(

SayrraT · 28/06/2016 08:05

Not that I think it's OK for you to have cat shit on your porch etc but your risk of catching toxo from cat shit is very low.

Under cooked meat is a much higher risk.

Cats only shed the parasite (toxo) for approx. 3 weeks after they become infected.

Cats are usually infected as kittens so if this is an older cat the chances of it having toxo are very low.

I have a PhD in a related subject (another protozoan parasite) and our group does a lot of work on toxo as well.

If your main worry is becoming infected then don't worry too much. Just use gloves if you are picking up the poo.

Costacoffeeplease · 28/06/2016 08:10

I like these threads - shows up the wankers beautifully

TheAnswerIsYes · 28/06/2016 08:18

Fucking squirrels keep digging holes in my new turf. Little fuckers. They should be made to wear boxing gloves.

RustyBear · 28/06/2016 08:21

Actually, ingesting cooking oil tends to give cats diarrhoea, so using it could backfire rather badly...

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2016 08:34

We had squirrels in our loft, they were a really annoying, plus they eat all the fat balls on the bird feeder. Angry

AmIthatbloodycold · 28/06/2016 08:47

OP Poor you. It's absolutely disgusting. However these threads always attract the strange posters who think we should all worship their furry crapping guts.

You'll be told

it'll be a fox
Cats always bury their shit
Buy a water pistol (yeah, quit your job and sit at the window all day)
Spend £££££buying deterrents

I don't mind cats, as a rule, but I absolutely hate the little ginger fucker than shits on my front grass, and who's shit stinks my bin out between fortnightly collections
