reading all the comments on MN regarding the EU decision. Ive never seen so much sour grapes, scaremongering and garbage spouted in my whole life, nearly every topic has to do with something about it. People who are stating their reason as to which way they voted and why, are being ridiculed, bad mouthed, and called names. I am absolutely disgusted with some of the comments i have seen. Thought mumsnet was full of people who could debate and give advice cordially, it appears i was wrong. We all need to get together in this and make the best of whats going to happen instead of causing unrest....WE WILL BE OKAY!

House prices are apparently already falling all around the country (who knows what will happen long term) and yes my husbands over time was cancelled as a direct result of the brexit vote as the bank he works for now won't change any systems in case people panic and start selling shares .... Why would I make that up? Hmm

PerpendicularVincent · 26/06/2016 11:27

OK then Lemon, how do you know that things will be ok? What plans and forecasts have you seen that brought you to this conclusion?

Or, is it just your opinion, made without facts.

I think the referendum result is terrible for our economy, for a number of reasons. I'm also sick of smug threads like this.

exLtEveDallas · 26/06/2016 11:29

I reckon I'll be ok. I've got my job (pretty safe), my pension (safe), my home (safe).

I'm not worried about me.

I'm worried about my foreign and commonwealth friends who might not be OK (Fight for my country but we might not give you citizenship)
I'm worried about my disabled friends who might not be ok (More austerity measures)
I'm worried about my friend who has a serious illness who might not be ok (research funded by the EU).
I'm worried about my BIL whose job might be in jeopardy (N Wales)
I'm worried about my Bro whose job might be in jeopardy (EU employer)
I'm worried about DD (future prospects, or the lack of)
I'm worried about the country (Government in turmoil)

I'm totally fed up of being worried Sad

Celticlassie · 26/06/2016 11:32

I can't believe all the moaning about referendum threads. It was an enormous event, with a pretty shocking result. People want to talk about it. Those who want to forget it, and not think about what's going to happen now - do you not think your life is going to change? Are you naive enough to think that things will continue as they were? Of course people want to talk about it. And it's going to be pro remain people who talk about it, because, let's face it, they're the ones who thought about their vote! Wink

FranHastings · 26/06/2016 11:35

Out of my 4 siblings, 3 of our jobs are at real risk. Not just 'might', real risk. Not to mention our partner's jobs.

I've had MIL who voted leave, expressing surprise that her son's job might be at real risk now. We told her beforehand. FFS! I have no time for people like you.

MountainDweller · 26/06/2016 11:36

Y2K is NOT a disaster that never was. Thousands (millions?) of people worked behind the scenes to make sure everything would be OK. My DH was one of them. Who is working behind the scenes to make sure this is not a disaster, when it already is?

Buzzardbird · 26/06/2016 11:40

More blind ignorance by people telling people with real concerns to "put up and shut up".

You have no idea.

Lemonlady22 · 26/06/2016 11:45

Was no one worried about the country before? Anyway you lose an argument when you resort to profanity, that shows more of a lack of education than voting for a democracy. Also do you know what NO JOB is safe reguardless if we are in the EU or not....no one gets a job for life anymore. You cant worry about what might never occur...we could all die tomorrow if the world ends. I also did not say i was fed up with the EU threads, i said i was fed up with the way people are behaving and just as i thought people on here have responded the same. More people voted out than in, some people couldnt be bothered to vote at all...so the majority wins whether its by one vote, one million votes or by apathy. Have a nice day (note not one swear word in my posts) Grin

Aah, so you have no facts to reassure us that will be ok then? This is just another grumble about some people daring to be unhappy about the result?

not surprised

FFS why can't people make it clear in their thread titles, that they're starting the 1000th thread on this subject?

KayTee87 · 26/06/2016 11:52

My job was a lot safer being part of the eu than out of it, depending on the negation so could well be jobless within 2 years and the industry I work in will be majorly affected so might struggle to get a job in the field in other companies. I'm waiting for you to convince me that we will all be ok as stated.

ErNope · 26/06/2016 11:52

On the very day the result was announced I went into my job, we were sat down (we being 20 something other employees) and told that as of the 1st of next month, none of us have jobs. Because of this the business is relocating back to its country of origin. None of us are going with them (them being the 2 owners). Our jobs are now gone (well, my final shift is the morning of the 1st) because they're closing the doors.
There are 8 jobs available in my area in my trade, 6 of which are managerial which I'm too under qualified for. I got this job about a year and a half ago, it took me 6 months to find this job (and I was job searching online twice daily and going out on foot once a day). How will I be ok? While businesses don't have to shut or change for a while lots had plans in place for brexit, lots included firing staff or moving.
It's not bullshit this is my life.

KayTee87 · 26/06/2016 11:52

Negotiation *

GhostofFrankGrimes · 26/06/2016 11:53

this is the biggest post war decision Britain has made. It will have massive consequences - this will be a debate for years to come. Get use to it.

Buzzardbird · 26/06/2016 11:53

So, that's your arguement? YABU.

Misnomer · 26/06/2016 11:54

No job is safe for ever, no that is true. But lots of jobs are in jeopardy as a direct result of the referendum and as this is affects whole sectors it's going to be very hard for people to find new ones. It's the scale of this that is the issue. It's not a few people or few companies.

And you lose an argument when you resort to profanity - And not when you resort to telling people to get over it based on no factual information to support your argument what so ever? Fuck that.

KayTee87 · 26/06/2016 11:54

ernope sorry to hear this, the instant impact on so many people is becoming apparent Flowers

chilledmonday · 26/06/2016 11:58

I am SOOOO sick of people telling those who voted remain to shut up and stop whinging! I have every right to complain about this catastrophic result. I did loads of research before I voted, made a decision based on what was best for this great country, my family and society at large. I DID NOT base my vote on xenophobic, fascist lies from toxic politicians. I have earned my right to complain and whinge as much as I like because the leave voters have Fucked us up completely.

chilledmonday · 26/06/2016 11:59

And we will NOT be OK!

yorkshapudding · 26/06/2016 12:06

Couldn't you just have posted on one of the many other threads that are saying the exact same thing Hmm

LumpySpacedPrincess · 26/06/2016 12:09

Ive never seen so much sour grapes, scaremongering and garbage spouted in my whole life

It's not scare mongering anymore, just reporting.

idsisatwat · 26/06/2016 12:10

^^

Basically what chilledmonday said

I'm worried about my continuing employment and the vulnerable people I work with, as a lot of what I do is funded by the ESF.
Not to mention the impact this will have on my DC

GodDamnThatTurtle · 26/06/2016 12:11

It might be Ok for you. It won't be OK for millions of other people who needed the Eu for their livelihood or their ability to live in the country of their choosing.

So maybe fuck off.

ClopySow · 26/06/2016 12:12

You don't know what the sour grapes analogy means, do you?

I didn't either. Just googled. I have actually learned something today.

Was no one worried about the country before?

Yes. It was fucked. It's now going to be bum fucked by rich boys with a penchant for gimp masks and and cocaine and plenty of money to keep them and their pals safe.
