Farage wants to end the NH and relax gun ban

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nigel-farage-nhs-might-have-to-be-replaced-by-private-health-insurance-9988904.html

all you idiots that voted for this becuase you 'want to end immigration' - which you have not ended - I am so angry with you. You've destroyed this country.

And destroyed it for my children, so many other people's children who did not want this - 75% of under 24s voted against.

And looking at the comments thread in the Daily Mail, the Brexit heartland, I see so many people regretting the vote because 'things weren't explained to them properly' - which also matches the fact that people with lower educational attainment voted out.

so I'm furious that older, ill educated people who couldn't be bothered to find out the facts have decided on my son's future and have ruined it.

You voted out what you think is an 'elite' and are about to turn us into something worse than America

Will you stop blaming older people? It makes you sound so stupid.

Justanotherlurker · 25/06/2016 19:42

If it's anyone you need to blame it's the ~60% of under 25's who couldn't be arsed to vote (that's also making a big assumption that everyone would have voted remain)

Pro tip: next time someone shares an article, check the date.

Mymakeup72 · 25/06/2016 19:42

Prep, you are not going to get 35 million people sitting reading and even more unlikely understanding the issues. Some people in this country are pretty thick. That's the same in every country. Some people are brighter than others. There will also be thick people who voted in without knowing why they were doing it.

The remain campaign was an extremely negative one led by someone who is not popular following his endless austerity cuts. He made a huge mistake in allowing the public to vote at all on something so important and secondly heading it himself. This was not a good tactic at all and for me he and Osbornes endless rants about how they were going to put up taxes etc etc just pissed a load of already pissed off people even more.

An MP close to where I live and in a town that was 58% out said that the EU had rescued her town loads of times with funding but the people didn't know this. Well she should have got that message out there. What were local MP's doing? I haven't heard of mine. Just got a load of leaflets. Corbyn didn't help with his weak leadership. They should have been promoting what the EU does not what leaving it will cause. It was too Negative.

I am disappointed with this result. It doesn't show us in a great light and the consequences will be hard felt and ironically by many of those who will have voted out.

However there is nothing anyone can do. It's done now. It's a worry that is out of your direct control. All you can do is keep educating your children and doing what any good parent does. Cream always floats to the top and there will always be a need for well educated bright talent in this country.

We didn't even get the 'unbiased information leaflet', it's attained a mythical status in our house, as we don't know none else who got one. We got a shed load of Leave propaganda, and one Remain leaflet. Apart from that, not a peep from anyone local.

Whole thing is a fucking shambles

midsomermurderess · 25/06/2016 19:51

Nigel Farrage isn't even an MP. And while very large numbers of those between 18 and 24 did vote to stay, vast swathes of them never bothered to vote at all. You know the saying about the consequences of not bothering to turn up?

seewhathappens · 25/06/2016 19:53

Farage might not be an MP but he has power! look what he managed to achieve?! he has persuaded shed loads of people to vote us out of the EU. I think we should be very cautious of this man and his opinions.
Even if the article was printed 17 months ago.

BillSykesDog · 25/06/2016 19:56

Yes, because he was the only person involved in the leave campaign and every leave voter based their vote entirely on what he had to say.

prepschoolinsanity · 25/06/2016 19:57

I'm sharing the article not because its recent, but to show what a voice of the leave campaign had publicly stated if anyone had bothered to do a cursory check

eyebrowsonfleek · 25/06/2016 19:58

Farage is at best a Katie Hopkins style side show who is best when people take the piss out of him on Have I Got News For You.

It's shocking how many people on my social media believed that they were voting for the membership fee to go to the NHS and that Brexit was an anti-privatisation vote.

BillSykesDog · 25/06/2016 20:02

How do you know they didn't check and dismiss it as irrelevant because they were voting on the EU and not on a fringe party leaders opinions on the NHS?

MrsLupo · 25/06/2016 20:02

Who cares what Farage wants he can't even get elected to parliament, he is a nobody with no power.

Depends how you define power. He is an extremely shrewd individual, who knows how to push powerless people's buttons in a way that is almost akin to brainwashing, judging by the extraordinary number of Leave voters who appear to have woken up on Friday and said, 'Oh, but I didn't mean I wanted this to happen.'

Stratter5 · 25/06/2016 20:03

I agree, I live in one of the Leave strongholds, 70% voted Leave here.

They fucking worship Farage. He may not hold any direct power, but he is most definitely the one they listen to. Boris and Gove don't even get a look in. I seriously doubt that it would have been 70% without Farage.

Don't dismiss him as powerless, he's a very cunning snake in the grass, and he's got the attention of a vast swathe of the electorate.

HungryHorace · 25/06/2016 20:05

He wasn't a part of the official leave campaign. He was, however, campaigning to leave. There's a subtle difference.

seewhathappens · 25/06/2016 20:06

Yes, because he was the only person involved in the leave campaign and every leave voter based their vote entirely on what he had to say.

No, clearly not. But he has got a lot of airtime and he has been a key player in influencing many many people.

whattodowiththepoo · 25/06/2016 20:14

Oh fuck off OP you melodramatic muppet.
I voted remain but no one has ruined this country the amount of hysteria is far more dangerous than that powerless idiot farage.

Mymakeup72 · 25/06/2016 20:15

18-24 year olds are disenchanted on the whole. Student fees, limited job opportunities, extended retirement ages, expensive property prices and rental costs. interested more in social media than anything real. They will vote even less in the future too. It's a problem.

seewhathappens · 25/06/2016 20:22

I think thats a bit harsh whattodo!

OP, you are clearly angry but we all need to find a way to accept what has happened and move forwards. It is not fair to blame people for being uneducated and to call them stupid. Our country is filled with all sorts of people, from different walks of life who have very different lives and we can't expect to control the way each individual votes.
There is no doubt that there are a lot of angry voters who have desperately voted for change, and it hasn't happened the way everyone wanted. Now we have to find a way to work with this change that is being thrust on us.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/06/2016 20:27

I'm sorry Prep, but I don't agree with you.
The Brexiters Promised that the NHS would be better if we left as the £350 million or was it billion, that was sent to other European countries would be put into the NHS. Unless you've been hiding under a rock. You must have seen the advertisement.
Brexit voters were sold down the river by Farage. He's the one you want to be disgusted with. Not innocent people who were lied to and decieved.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/06/2016 20:30

Oh and Dastardly Dave isn't without blame either. Why the fuck did the idiot give us the vote. When he knew Brexit would be disaster. He's Priminister surely, hes not stupid.

BillSykesDog · 25/06/2016 20:31

So did the Remainers trawl every single newspaper article and every view ever expressed by any member of the leave campaign and refuse to vote leave if they didn't agree with any of them?

Probably not. But then they demand standards of other people that they don't live up to themselves because they find it absolutely impossible to deal with the fact that some people might be in full possession of the facts and still disagree with them.

Teresalosingtheirleaves · 25/06/2016 20:31

He is insignifiCUNT, calm down!

SemiNormal · 25/06/2016 20:33

Oh dear.... and the OP calls others 'idiots', would you like a mirror?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/06/2016 20:37

I blame Cameron for this result.
Me, too. Mind you I blame Cameron for everything, even the weather.
Like the time I went flying on the ice, and shouted. Twatting David Cameron, all this fucking ice. BlushGrin

WorraLiberty · 25/06/2016 20:40

Another Daily Mail reader, trying to whip people up into a fear fill, hysterical frenzy Hmm

OP, take a chill pill and at least trawl the internet for some more up to date material, for your fear campaign.
