Seriously excited! It's still in the pond, it's about 18 inches to 2 feet long and just beautiful!

What a beautiful grass snake. You lucky thing.

HomeThoughtsFromABroad · 23/06/2016 15:49

That's amazing!

Didn't know they were protected

redhat · 23/06/2016 15:49

When I lived on the south coast my cats used to bring grass snakes in all the time. It was the norm to come downstairs and almost step on half a snake.

My cat is probably the reason they're endangered..

pissedglitter · 23/06/2016 15:51

I'm with JaneyMoo50
See it, run from it and never leave the house again Confused

CakeNinja · 23/06/2016 15:52

Honoured?! I'd feel many things but honoured wouldn't be one of them!!!

whattheseithakasmean · 23/06/2016 15:52

Beautiful snake.

BaboonBottom · 23/06/2016 15:54

Don't pick it up they release a stinky yucky slim to deter predators.
It's really beautiful

wishfulthink · 23/06/2016 15:54

Burn it. Burn it with fire. Then move house

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 23/06/2016 15:56

You are being vvvv unreasonable to post without some indication in the title or that there was a photo. Have just had a complete bollocking from dh for dropping the iPad on the tiled floor in my shock 😟. Fortunately it didn't break. My heart still hasn't settle down from the shock. Huge huge huge phobia. Can't do pics or even read the words!!! Sorry.

Charlesroi · 23/06/2016 16:00

Wow! Take care of it and hope it finds a girl/boyfriend

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 23/06/2016 16:02

He's gorgeous.

SnakesandKnives · 23/06/2016 16:04

Gorgeous! Also very jealous :)

Mycatsabastard · 23/06/2016 16:12

I'm so sorry to have scared anyone. I have reported and asked MNHQ to add a warning to the title.

My apologies. I forget not everyone thinks they are gorgeous. If it was spider related I'd be terrified but I think this is just stunning.

Just spotted your user name, Op so hope bastard cat hasn't eaten him Wink

Janeymoo50 · 23/06/2016 16:28

I am scared of them, but did look at the photo without coming out in a cold sweat (it has a sweet face actually). It's only real life ones (and on TV) that really freak me out 😊.

FrikkaDilla · 23/06/2016 16:35

Oh lovely. I thought I was lucky to have frogs but this is another level.

DJBaggieSmalls · 23/06/2016 16:38

Lovely! I had to rescue one from a brick sided pond once, I used a bucket and asked the owners to put in a ramp for wildlife. It was news to them they had any - they seemed to think it would all stay the other side of the hedge! Grin

LadyDeadpool · 23/06/2016 16:40

I am dying of jealousy it's so stunning I've never seen a snake in the wild but spent weekends as a child hunting sand lizards and various other small creatures just to admire them.

Snarkmaiden · 23/06/2016 16:43

Baboon
Slow worms piddle out a disgusting smelling liquid as well (and they're feisty buggers). I rescued one from my bastard cat and got pissed on, shat on and bitten for my effort.
I'd love a grass snake in my garden.

icclemunchy · 23/06/2016 17:27

We have a slow worm living at the end of the garden (and a Python and corn snake in the house). Saw my first adder in thetford forest a couple of years back really beautiful colouring

LittleRedWagon1 · 23/06/2016 17:30

He looks beautiful.
I am very jealous I'd love to spot a wild snake in our garden. My DD2 would be beside herself with excitement. I would love another snake but we only have room for the one we have (plus our two beardies and our leo) I need a bigger house so I can fit in a chameleon too Grin

dizzygirl1 · 23/06/2016 17:40

I am petrified of snakes 😭 over the last 4 weeks all I have seen on Facebook and other pages is people finding snakes 😭 it honestly petrifies me, i'm supposed to be going camping soon but thistill has really put me off 😭😭😭😭😭
Back to the op. It is quite beautiful!

TheImprobableGirl · 23/06/2016 17:43

Hmm... I thought grass snakes were just overgrown worms with diamond markings on?!

I didn't realise they were actually.... Yknow.... Snakey
