...how tidy is your house right now?

Are you relaxing on the sofa about to watch Gogglebox with a glass of wine, or are you getting a last load of washing on while clearing up the remains of dinner and picking up toys?

I'm somewhere in between, having just finished in the kitchen (delegated ds2's bedtime to DD) and sort of pottering picking up bits as I see them. It's not a midden but I'd probably still be uncomfortable if we had surprise visitors.

What's it like at your gaff? And AIBU to sit down now?

Rebecca, I'd almost rather be burgled than do any sort of tidying now. So that's probably clouding my advice.

Flats quite messy, done the washing up, have washing waiting to go in the tumbledryer and need to tidy up toys and sort piles of clothes. Will tidy till 10.25 then make a brew and catch up on eastenders then go to bed at 11 with a book n read/net surf until midnight. I like my routine haha. And drinking cola atm as don't really drink alcohol causally, I'm fact it surprises me that everybody seems to?!

Ifonlylovewouldsavetheday · 10/06/2016 21:48

We haven't got over half-term yet! I cleaned the French doors at the beginning with the intention of spring cleaning everywhere else. Didn't happen and still haven't fully tidied/sorted/cleaned as I intended. Heyho, it will get done at some point, there is no emergency😀

Notso · 10/06/2016 21:48

DH is in France for the Euros, two youngest are in bed, DD is at the cinema and DS1 and me are watching Alan Partridge.
I'm supposed to be packing and deep cleaning as we go on holiday for a week on Monday night.
My Mum gave a major cat bum mouth at my ironing mountain covering the dining room table earlier.

WellTidy · 10/06/2016 21:48

Washing done, dry and put away/into the ironing pile. Dinner eaten. Gin consumed. Dishwasher on. Kids asleep. House could do with a decent tidy up, but I'm in the bath and DH is watching the end of the France v Romania game. I am full of good intentions for tomorrow ( we will see how that goes!).

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 10/06/2016 21:49

I always try and clean on a Friday so I can sit in a clean house on Friday night and start the weekend in a clean kitchen (I love getting up for a cuppa before everyone else on a Saturday morning). So I'm sat here in my clean house with the kids in bed - just - but on my own as OH is working nights.

Fasting today too so really looking forward to tomorrow night when the wine will be out and a takeaway ordered!

bushtailadventures · 10/06/2016 21:50

House is a tip, but it's Saturday tomorrow so I don't care, I always do a proper clean on a Saturday for some stupid reason! It's DS1's 26th birthday so we had a kids tea party for dinner (his choice, he got all nostalgic) and I am sat in the kitchen snacking on hoovering up the leftovers while watching Gogglebox, looking forward to The Last Leg next.

Op, those fishfingers looked and sounded awful

Fishcake72 · 10/06/2016 21:50

Washing machine on, stuff in the sink, me drinking wine and watching tv.

limon · 10/06/2016 21:51

pretty tidy in imprison really.

EasternDailyStress · 10/06/2016 21:51

Cleaning can wait until tomorrow. DS and I are watching the footy, I'm on my second pint of cream stout and crisps (am vair posh really)

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 10/06/2016 21:53

Love the cute kittens!

My downstairs is really nice and tidy, upstairs is diabolically bad.

DH is watching the football and I'm drinking Wine I've just brushed the dog - it's rock'n'roll in the Greenwood household tonight Grin

The kids are of an age when they just mill around, occupying themselves fighting until we put them to bed.

SingingSamosa · 10/06/2016 21:57

House could be cleaner and tidier but having taken quite a strong antihistamine from the GP last night (which are NOT non-drowsy!) in an effort to stop the bastard itching from the pollen, I've been in a comatose state all day and so have done ZERO housework other than unloading and loading the dishwasher.
Went out earlier with the family for a local village hall do so no dinner to clear up. Most of the mess is actually in the playroom and that door is easily closed so I can't see it! Have just had a cuppa and watching Eastenders on Sky+ I can't even have any treats as I'm currently on a 'no refined carbs and zero sugar' diet.

Living the dream... Hmm

Sgtmajormummy · 10/06/2016 21:58

House is on the way to being tidy, good enough for the weekend. Washing done and fridge stocked.

DS is out at a class sleepover and DD's in bed. Excited because school's out for the Summer and she's starting Camp on Monday. This will be her third year so she knows what's going on.

I watched the opening ceremony of the football and 15 minutes of the France vs Romania match with DH (token gesture as I don't expect he'll surface much over the next few weeks).

Now I'm doing MN and enjoying the faint undercurrent of excitement at what the Summer will bring Grin.

ohtheholidays · 10/06/2016 22:05

Oldest DS20 came in for a little while and had his dinner,he's now gone out again, will be a late night for him because of no work tomorrow.
DS17 has gone to stay at a friends house,DS14 is chatting on his phone upstairs,DD13 is watching Love, Nina with me and DH is putting DD8 to bed.

The house is clean,it was done this morning.I've washed up from the DC suppers, that's just draining and I'll load the washing machine up tonight(done 6 loads today)with the towels and uniforms from today and then the rest of what's left of today is mine and my DH's.
Recording Gogglebox so we'll watch that with a little drink once the other 2 youngest DC are in bed asleep. Smile

Pollyputhtekettleon · 10/06/2016 22:07

3 little ones in bed by 7.30. House is perfect.

PoohBearsHole · 10/06/2016 22:10

chaos and carnage!
worked two weeks on the trot with no help (Pt usually at work) do took last week off which made more chaos as nothing done, finished work at 8.30 last night and back out the house at7.55 am

got back at 6.15 with food, decided to do some weeding Hmm and drink wine.

tomorrow is another day....

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 22:17

We have piles of washing but they're all upstairs so I can happily ignore it. Got very behind because the kids were at camp over half term and came back with utterly minging piles of stuff to get through.

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 10/06/2016 22:29

Mine isn't bad. I did 2 loads of laundry earlier, and hoovered. And cooked a huge dinner, and cleared it all up. And made a fish pie for the freezer. And got both DC into bed.

DH was watching the footy when I barged into the sitting room with the Hoover. He began protesting, but I roared over the Hoover, "It's FRANCE versus ROMANIA and you support NEITHER of those teams." Blush

familysizepack · 10/06/2016 22:31

I've had the wine but it's still a mess. Smallest is poorly so not many free hands!

TheFairyCaravan · 10/06/2016 22:44

Our's is really tidy. All the washing and ironing is done, and the dishwasher is on. It's one of the advantages of not having kids living here full time.

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 10/06/2016 23:43

Spotless here, hosting 5 year olds birthday party tomorrow for half the bloody school and I've been cleaning all week (it's a very big house).

If I'm not scrubbing chocolate off every surface tomorrow it'll be a miracle. Bring it on Grin
