...how tidy is your house right now?

Are you relaxing on the sofa about to watch Gogglebox with a glass of wine, or are you getting a last load of washing on while clearing up the remains of dinner and picking up toys?

I'm somewhere in between, having just finished in the kitchen (delegated ds2's bedtime to DD) and sort of pottering picking up bits as I see them. It's not a midden but I'd probably still be uncomfortable if we had surprise visitors.

What's it like at your gaff? And AIBU to sit down now?

All looks okay. I try and keep posessions fairly minimalist but with 3dc constantly coming home with crap it's hard to be too vigilant.
Wouldn't mind anyone turning up as downstairs rooms are all clear, no one hangs around in Ds bedroom where there are toys out and bathroom and loo are clean.
Kitchen is a little messy but dp is cooking watching the football. 2 of the DC in bed, one out for the night.
Sitting on the sofa in the kitchen, relaxing with MN and a book alternately.
I'm a SAHM so housework gets done in the daytime.

OhMyGoddess · 10/06/2016 21:23

Daughter, 13, is upstairs watching some ridiculous crap on YouTube involving two young lads drinking coke and eating popping candy. The carpet really needs a hoover, beloved pooch trampled mud in earlier. The coffee table is covered in today's post. I'm sat in the garden on my....fourth glass of cava and I couldn't give a rats 😃

foxessocks · 10/06/2016 21:23

DD has only just gone to bed as we had friends round and she was quite over excited! The house is quite tidy though apart from the empty pizza boxesBlush

zoobeedoo · 10/06/2016 21:23

House is a tip, I'm in bed, have been all evening (15 weeks pregnant and 'exhausted' Wink) watching predator with DS and waiting on hubby bringing me in a mixed kebab. Love it!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/06/2016 21:25

House is tidy - but I've only some housework because I hate doing housework at the weekends.

I've even fitted a new toilet seat, it's a whole new outlook on life

(haven't even had any Wine, I'm just a sad git!)

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 21:26

DDs friend's mum has just text (texted?) inviting her for a sleepover tomorrow night and I was so quick with my reply that I had to follow it up with an explanation that I'm not desperately keen to get rid of her, I just had my phone in my hand and DD had already mentioned it Grin

Some rooms ish, but I'm having a few weeks of fin between jobs so I'm Marie konding the fuck out of the house and need to take about 10 black bags to the charity shop.

Dd out for the count and dh watching Euros whilst I'm online, having a wine and worrying about clearing my parent's house for sale from Monday.

My lovely MIL is around to look after dd and feed me nice food, home made jam and wine.

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 21:28

Oh how lovely! My MIL came over last week to help me sort the house out, I did all the kids' rooms while she did downstairs and the bathrooms, and then she came over on Sunday to sort the garden out for us. She's great.

Quite clean but it's cleaner week so not surprising. Few dog hairs dotted around but not enough to break out the Hoover just yet.

Also hiding from football in bed

ScouseQueen · 10/06/2016 21:29

Eating supermarket pizza and watching Alan Partridge Mid Morning Matters. House is a total state but too late to start on that tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Trooperslane · 10/06/2016 21:30

She's a dote, reality.

Texted me this am to tell me how excited she was. (We live a flight away)

Love her!

BringOnTheSarsons · 10/06/2016 21:30

Majority of the house tidy. Kitchens a tip and will be now until the morning. 2 out of 3 kids still awake but at least relaxing in their beds watching a film. Me, dh and the dogs catching up on love island.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/06/2016 21:30

House tolerable, though I've not been in the kitchen since about 2pm and DH cooked dinner tonight so who knows how messy that is. He'll sort the dishwasher before we go to bed.

DDs 1 & 2 asleep in bed; two-week-old baby beside me on the sofa. She's decided not to go to sleep after all.

I'm drinking/eating an ice cream with lemonade poured over it and faffing about on the interwebs. DH is planning a catch up with his parents while they're canal boating up here in Scotland next weekend. (I am being unhelpful because I don't really fancy a day on a tiny boat with 5 adults, two small children and a new baby.)

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 10/06/2016 21:32

Flat is a tip: single parent, work full-time and DS been bedwetting over last couple of weeks.
He's in bed, I've hung up two loads of washing, switched my bank account, had a bath and am now going to bed with a book. Will probably be asleep before 10. A week's worth (Blush) of washing up awaits me in the morning but I don't care, it's the weekend and I'm feeling thankful we made it through to Friday evening. 🎉
There is a small bottle of Peroni in the fridge which I half fancy except I'm too tired for it. Maybe I shall have it tomorrow evening, in my nice clean tidied hoovered (and definitely washed-up!) flat.

OvO · 10/06/2016 21:32

House is fairly tidy. Tidy enough for all unexpected visitors except my mum!

I'm in bed but my DC aren't! Grin. I get more peace if I go to bed first.

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 21:32

WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING TO FISH FINGERS?

OP posts:
KissMyArse · 10/06/2016 21:32

Fairly tidy but needs a good hoover which I'll do tomorrow along with loads and loads (and loads) of washing.

It's Friday, I work hard in a demanding job and housework will not encroach on my wine time tonight! To be fair, the 'kids' are both over 18 so I don't have to get them to bed Grin

Cheers! Wine

RebeccaMumsnet · 10/06/2016 21:33

I'm working, DP is on a 5pm-3am and i have my 3 DC and his 2 here. All 5 are just in bed. I daren't go downstairs and look at the bomb that'll no doubt have gone off in the living room because I gave them popcorn let them watch a film.

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 21:34

Oh Rebecca. Rookie mistake.

I'd avoid downstairs until tomorrow.

House clean and tidy (but only because the cleaner came today)

Dh watching the footy, I'm on MN of course Wink with a glass of 'traditional style' prosecco in hand. The wine man told me this is how they used to make it in the old days. It looks all cloudy and is dry but is lovely - a bit like a champagne cocktail of some sort. It is easing the headache brought on by 2 children so tired they screamed and cried hysterically for an hour before they eventually submitted to sleep at about 8.30 Smile

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 10/06/2016 21:36

House scruffy. Kids (teens) are finishing a late supper while I tidy away all the clean washing, and the clothes I draped over the bedroom chair while having a last minute wardrobe panic this morning. DH and I are having a late pizza takeaway and Wine once DC are off to bed.

Kittens' room is indescribable - I can't bring myself to hoover it because they get so scared. [gratuitous kitten picture because they're leaving us soon]

It's 9pm, the end of the week, small kids in bed...
RebeccaMumsnet · 10/06/2016 21:36

I'll have to brave it at some point Reality, they won't have switched off or locked up [ever practical]

mumofhandsomeboys · 10/06/2016 21:37

Tidyish. 3yo asleep, 12week old still awake, we've been trying to put him down since 6:30 Angry apparently he's not tired!
I think all visitors now know not to expect an immaculate house and I refuse to apologise for that! My house is a home, not a showhome. It's tidy-ish with toys mainly away (or thrown into one corner rather than splattered all over the floor!) but needs hoovering, dusting and Windows cleaning. There's always tomorrow...! Xx

ImRealitySoTheOthersCanFuckOff · 10/06/2016 21:38

Kittens! ❤️❤️

DD in bed, DH away for the weekend. House a state, I am watching BB and steadfastly ignoring the mess until tomorrow ..... Been at work since 7am so I am beyond tired!

Going away for the week on Sunday so I have ironed all our clothes and packed them. The rest of it can fuck off.
