To think the two girls who kidnapped the toddler in primark

Should be put away for a long long time?!
It smacks of Venables and Thomson imo. If these two girls planned to kidnap and sexually assault a toddler at the ages they are now, God only knows what kind of monsters they would grow into!

Where are you getting the info about the sisters being in care from? There were known to Ss but weren't in care at the time. There's many reasons why they could be known to SS.

Where do 13 and 14 year olds get to hear about rape? The news. Films. Books.

As for the sentence they face. That's up to the courts who have all the actual facts. If there was other people involved, it's for the legal system to find out and deal with accordingly. If they were abuses, again up to the system to try and rehabilitate them.

I agree that a higher percentage of abuse victims go on to abuse but I also know that many (if not most) would never, ever want to repeat that behaviour for the suffering of someone else.
I came from an affluent, professional home, where abuse was going on and I also had it in my teenage years.
Sometimes I felt a bit sorry for myself and thought how crap life was but never in my whole life would I want to see anyone suffer the way we did.
I have 3 children now. I am alert and aware but not overly. I pick up on things maybe more so than others.
People could hate me for any other reason, but I regard child abuse and especially sexual as worse than murder.
I hold a really strong hatred for them. (probably like most people really)
Everyone is born with a conscience whether they have been abused or not, some make use of it and others don't. Those people to me are not human.

Whenever there's a case of an abused child in the paper who has died or been badly hurt everyone beats their chests and wails for the loss and damage to that child. Obviously not pausing to think what that child would have become.

If those girls had been abused previously the people you should be targetting are whoever damaged those girls so badly that they'd go on to try and do something like that. They're clearly very disturbed. Thank God they were caught in time, hopefully they'll get a shed load of help and services directed at them.

I think exactly the same about a young man in the paper recently who had been repeatedly raped as a child, by more than one person. He then went on to abuse his niece and confessed, because of his history the judge was quite rightly lenient considering his own court case hadnt long ended. Horrific, for the little girl but also for that young boy who had been destroyed and will never lead a normal life.

inarmsofanangel · 10/06/2016 19:59

So, when these girls are older I presume they should be targeted if the children they did this to end up like this?

inarmsofanangel · 10/06/2016 20:04

If we are saying judges can be lenient against this if the abusers have had a history of abuse themselves which people seem to think are the majority, Pretty much everyone is going to get away with SA. It needs to stop. Not be encouraged before it's too late. I just don't buy the history of SA thing.
There's a cycle of abuse which can lead down through generations, it's true, but if nobody is ever going to teach them how wrong it is, how is it ever going to change?

In the article linked earlier it mentions the child was black, as was the previous little girl they tried to kidnap 2hrs earlier, so they were seemingly only interested in taking only a young black child.

This makes me think there may well be a particular adult that has implanted the idea in them, perhaps they wanted it filmed or something.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 10/06/2016 20:20

"The teenagers, from Tyneside, had been charged with kidnap with the intention of committing a sexual offence but this was dropped after the prosecution accepted a plea to the alternative charge of kidnap."

Their intent may well not be as clear cut as some reporting suggests. Remanded into care of local authority, sentencing in early July.

And appropriate therapies are bound to be offered to them (whatever institution they end up in) but it'll be up to the teens to decide if they engage properly with them.

Summerdreams · 10/06/2016 20:43

This story is horrific. I think they shouldn't have dropped the charges as they should be on the sex offenders register and the only trying to kidnap a black child also makes it seem like someone might have been telling them what to do.
