To be unimpressed with schools idea for forgetting P.E kit.

My DS who is 9 didnt have his P.E kit in school Monday as I forgot it, not thinking it a problem though as they don't do P.E on Mondays.

However, this Monday, they decided to do sports day practice and as DS didn't have his P.E kit (he lost it in school the week before half term but that's another story, but it must be in school somewhere!) they told him to borrow another boys.

The other boy was on holiday and has been fairly good friends with DS but they are very different builds, DS being stocky and the other boy slim. But I don't think it's ok for the school to tell him to borrow someone else's kit. I wouldn't want someone else borrowing DS's kit, possibly damaging it or whatever.

AIBU? What happend to having to use kit from lost property/spare kit box?

" Bitchy comment about a child.. Well done petal "
no , dear, it was about the OP. Read carefully!

SavoyCabbage · 08/06/2016 23:05

I really think the teacher was just doing their best in this situation. Trying to fix the problem so your child could do PE.

Querty12345 · 08/06/2016 23:05

No it wasn't Maria you criticised the stockiness of her son. Stocky doesn't mean fat are unfit. What would you cool a rugby player? You fool.

Querty12345 · 08/06/2016 23:06

Fat OR unfit

Querty12345 · 08/06/2016 23:06

Call* bloody hell its too late for me 😂😂

RequestInUse · 08/06/2016 23:07

If he had brought it home I would have happily washed it but he didn't and now the boy is off holiday he's not sure what to do. Neither am I. Am quite friendly with the boys mum so perhaps I should say something and offer to wash and not forget it!

Maria so unnecessary and bitchy. Not that I need to defend him but we walk/cycle/scoot lots of places and he plays rugby, goes to cubs, plays outside. He also has what I consider a good diet. Also we have just found out he has an under active thyroid which is in course of being treated. So take your comment and be a wankpuffin else where.

YANBU
DD is constantly moaning about parts of her PE kit going missing, it ends up on the cloakroom floor or in someone else's PE bag having been raided by others told to borrow some. So some other kid is skipping about in DDs PE kit and trainers which they then discard around the cloakroom for DD to find and pick upAngry

If a child forgets their PE kit they should not do PE. I would not expect my DD to be allowed raid another child's PE bag if she forgot her kit.

Querty12345 · 08/06/2016 23:08

^^ see I called it the boy is a rugby player! Those boys are fucking powerhouses

Fairenuff · 08/06/2016 23:10

OP what would you have wanted to happen?

RequestInUse · 08/06/2016 23:10

Our school doesn't have uniform (USA) and they do PE in.... Gasp..... The clothes they wear to school. It would solve a lot of problems in primary school tbh. Just let them get on with it. No need to be changing for PE until grade 6 surely?!

Querty12345 · 08/06/2016 23:11

Love it! Good for him that he does so many different clubs. He was probably gutted he forgot his kit if he's particularly sporty. Happens to all kids at least once, we're all human after all eh

RequestInUse · 08/06/2016 23:12

Fair I would have wanted to not let him down and have not forgotten the kit. But that aside I suppose sitting out if no actual spare kit. Only as aside from borrowing without asking, he did feel a bit uncomfortable, not just physically, wearing a kit that wasn't his and didn't fit.

buildalegohouse · 08/06/2016 23:12

So, what? If a child forgets their pen should they not do their English work either?

You are being ridiculous. It's a PE kit. No harm was caused. Find something else to worry about. Perhaps preparing the things your child will need for school tomorrow...

HangingRockPicnic · 08/06/2016 23:14

Nooka with no uniform or pe kit do they do gymnastics/climb on apparatus wearing jeans /dresses/ shirts etc? My primary had no uniform but we wore vest and pants in the infants and i can't for the life of me remember what we wore in the juniors but i know we got changed into something. Maybe non uniform shorts and t shirt

PaulAnkaTheDog · 08/06/2016 23:16

What do you want the school to do op?

clam · 08/06/2016 23:17

So, you didn't send him in with PE kit, but this is now somehow the school's fault?
And how come it's OK for him to wear Lost Property items, but not those of a friend?
And I can tell you from many years' experience, that a "bank" of spare kit going home NEVER comes back. Why should the school fund parents' inefficiencies?

RequestInUse · 08/06/2016 23:18

Surprise that people think this is a major issue for me. Not that it is just something I posted in some idle time with a genuine wonder....

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 08/06/2016 23:21

Would be a total non issue to me.

Italiangreyhound · 08/06/2016 23:23

Maria how rude.

RequestInUse my dd was made to borrow another child's kit, it got supposedly damaged and the other mum was angry as it was very expensive.

And, if I remember rightly it was also on a day when we were not expecting dd to have PE!

It was really annoying and I do not think any child's kit should be loaned to another child.

duckyneedsaclean · 08/06/2016 23:26

Blimey, you're getting a hard time for worrying about other pupil's property, op.

CodyKing · 08/06/2016 23:27

DC have a plain white tshirt £2 and black shorts £5 plus £3,50 black pumps

If you buy expensive then more fool you!!

Teachers can't do right for wrong!

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 08/06/2016 23:28

I'd be pissed off if dd's pe kit was handed around the school communally. Does the borrower take it home and wash it, potentially not bringing it in and leaving the lender in the same boat? Or does the owner just get to wear dirty kit?

Up until this year ds kit was in each half term and then came home to wash - back in the following half term

Only changed this year because he does it last thing on a Thursday and comes home in i!

It's his reponsibility to remember his kit - not mine or schools
