Just interested in hearing your stories! Might be pg myself and feeling all sentimental!

I threw up out of the car window and took it from there...

Foofoobum · 31/05/2016 20:13

He was working and I sent a message saying you better come over here after work. He turned up after midnight and I handed him the test saying pregnant. The colour went from his face and he nearly passed out. He wasn't too chuffed to be honest but by the next day his attitude has changed and he's now the most amazing father to our 6yo daughter.

Tiggeryoubastard · 31/05/2016 20:15

First two we did the test together, third - he told me to do a test as he had a suspicion (I was still breast feeding a 4 month old).

bumpingalong9386 · 31/05/2016 20:16

I text him a picture of the test because I couldn't wait to tell him face to face! Grin

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 31/05/2016 20:18

With my first an A&E nurse told us both at the same time. I was very very sick for days and went to A&E to see what the fuck was happening. I was behind the curtain inserting a suppository when the nurse said 'so where are you having your baby' at the same time we both replied 'what baby?' It was the first we knew about it.

Biscuitsforbribes · 31/05/2016 20:22

I tested on a whim on a Friday afternoon, we were due to start fertility treatment the next week and It was more of a formality. Bam! Positive.

We were picking our new car up the next day, so while I was picking up (lots and lots) more pregnancy tests, I grabbed a baby on board sign and popped it in a gift bag.

When he came home I gave him his new car present and watched it slowly sink in before giving him all the positive tests.

He thought I was being weird and had bought the sign for the dog Hmm

BranTriLlygaid · 31/05/2016 20:25

I did mine at work, texted him saying 'better explain to your dad why I can't drink during the six nations this year!'. He didn't get it as the lazy sod was having a sleep-in, had to spell it out. Now have a 7 month old, lie-ins are old news but totally worth it Grin.

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 31/05/2016 20:27

The first time I spent a couple of weeks listing every 'symptom' that made me think I was pregnant whilst he looked all sceptical because it was the first month we tried.
Actually getting the positive test was only a confirmation for me, but because ti was only faint I think he still didn't believe me. I swear he didn't seem to 'get' it until I had my 12 wk scan!

Second pg we'd been trying a while with no luck and I tested randomly when he was at work. When he came home I'd laid dinner for four with the positive test on the fourth setting. There were a few tears on both sides. Unfortunately that pg didn't stick, but it was the only 'announcement' I got to do because...

Third pg DS poked me in the belly and said 'Mummy got a baby in her tummy'. I tested and dammit if he wasn't right.

I always wanted to do an announcement by putting the older kids in a 'Big brother' or 'big sister' T-shirt for when DH came home. This would only work for the kid that wasn't already an older sibling I guess...

Oh well. Done now.

madamginger · 31/05/2016 20:27

The first time is was at work and I did a test on my break, he worked at the same place so I told him at work, Dc2 I can't remember Blush but most likely at home, i do remember I was really ill with norovirus and morning sickness at the same time when I was 5 weeks pregnant though Shock and dc3 we took the kids to the park and I did a test just before we left and I told him on the walk there.

CiderRules · 31/05/2016 20:33

DS1&2 I think he was around so I just showed him the test. DD he was away and got back the day before Father's Day so I made him a card that said "who's the daddy?" and put the positive test inside it with "YOU" written. We were ttc so it wasn't a big surprise but he liked it Smile

Unicorn1981 · 31/05/2016 20:41

I had been waiting to get pg for years so always built dp up. This time he went on a bike ride on a Saturday morning. I found a test in a draw which expired that day so I used it thinking it wouldn't be positive. It bloody well was positive! I called him and no answer. He then discovered about 25 missed calls and thought something terrible had happened! He came back, I told him we jumped about a bit. Then he said let's wait a month then test again! I was like 'are you joking?!' And went and got one of those posh new fangled clear blue ones that confirmed I was 2-3 weeks! I couldn't believe it.

strandedabroad · 31/05/2016 20:49

One of his friends was here so I couldn't tell as soon as I POAS. Had to wait for friend to leave, had dinner, then put the test on a plate with a lid on top and served it to him as dessert. Then filmed him as he took the lid off. He knew it was on the cards as we'd been trying but was still rather speechless Smile

Loved reading all your experiences, thanks for the responses 😊

Totally unexpected pregnancy, took the test in Boots toilet, texted my then-boyfriend to come to my house ASAP.

We'd only been together a few months and were on the verge of splitting up, so I knew it was going to be a difficult conversation. When I told him, he was horrified and said 'This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me.'

Ten years later, we're very happily married, with two beautiful DCs Smile.

theoldtrout01876 · 01/06/2016 01:49

Dh was in bed. I ran upstairs, threw the test at him and screamed " my fckin life is over" Blush

She is 11 now and has been awesome since the day she was born

MerilwenRose · 01/06/2016 07:46

I texted him as it was a faint squinty line and I wasn't sure, and I was on my way to work so was in a rush - we'd been trying for six months so it wasn't a huge shock! With the next one I'll try and be more romantic!

StarlingMurmuration · 01/06/2016 12:06

Re-reading my post, it's not clear that DP and I were crying happy tears! We'd been trying to conceive for a while so it was a lovely moment. We went out to the shops for another one the next day, just to double-check.

crje · 01/06/2016 12:17

I woke Dh from his post vasectomy nap and said ' I have something to tell you' .......
We call her our last shot in the barrel.

GreatFuckability · 01/06/2016 12:21

He knew I might be before I tested anyway.
First time he said: Oh fuck
Second time he said: Oh cool
Third time he said: Again?!

Kittykatmacbill · 01/06/2016 12:37

Dd1 I screamed at dh to come into the bathroom where I was still sitting on the loo Blush and surrounded by a big heap of positive (cheapo) tests. Not very interesting / romantic... I vowed to better the next time.

With dd2 I tested really early the day that I thought i was due to start after feeling 'funny' for a week or so. So couldn't really bring myself to say ' I am pregnant' so just said i have a positive pregnancy test. I had done the test earlier and told him the second he came though the door. He was just interested in me trying to define 'Feeling funny'...Hmm

So no beautiful tales gel me!

Kittykatmacbill · 01/06/2016 12:38

*from me!

Stupid phone.

FuckingFattyBitch · 01/06/2016 12:45

All 3 times I basically threw a pee stick at him. All three times he looked absolutely petrified Grin

switswoo81 · 01/06/2016 12:45

After 3 miscarriages he lay in bed while I poas. Then cried for an hour as I thought I'd have to go through another loss. ( Our genetic testing was clear so we were told to keep trying) Fortunately she decided to stick around and the day we heard her heartbeat was the day we celebrated.

seeyounearertime · 01/06/2016 12:49

My and gf had been trying for a while and every month shed text me whilst I as at work and say,
"Not this month, maybe next month"
This happened for a few months until she text me,
"I'm pregnant"

I dropped my phone, picked it up, went casually to the toilet at work and called her. 4 years later and our DD is happy and healthy. :)

Woodenmouse · 01/06/2016 12:49

With ds1 I just walked out of the loo and handed him the test. He knew I was doing it.

With ds2 I felt a bit funny so took a test and then rang dh in (happy) tears and he came straight home from work. He went back to work after he finished hugging me and ds2 for about half an hour!
