Fitbit cheating

So, if you were spending an hour in the back garden sawing wood, is it cheating to swap your fitbit to your sawing arm in order to gain extra steps? (I got 3,000. It was a lot of sawing).

I think it's fair enough. Husband is saying it's cheating.

Mine doesn't register poweryoga as steps but it doesn't recognise its a workout as my heart rate elevates

Rdoo · 01/06/2016 19:06

I've had my fitbit (HR charge) less than a week.
I'm mainly watching it for calories burned, does anyone find it accurate in relation to this because according to it I'm burning a lot of calories!!

OnePlanOnHouzz · 02/06/2016 08:18

Calories burned is pretty accurate I feel - as long as you've correctly put in your info . I have the scales too that sync it all together with Weight and fat content !
I burn only 1400 cals when I'm stuck at my desk all day and do less than 2000 steps - but when I get off my ass and do 12000 steps then I burn 2400 - 2900 ish so as I'm only putting in about 1900 a day I can keep my weight steady .

What's the point? It won't make you any thinner.

I haven't experienced cheat steps. Mind really does seem to need me to move. I struggle to hit 10k unless I exercise deliberately and walk the long routes to the train station before and after work.

pinkandpurplesparkle · 02/06/2016 09:23

Yanbu. Definitely. Do it!

Sofie565 · 02/06/2016 09:25

Sawing is harder than walking! Not cheating

Spartak · 02/06/2016 09:28

Clapping adds on to my steps. 90 minutes at the football adds an extra 5000 or so. The only exercise I've done during that time is lifting a pie to my mouth.

Whatyagonnacallit · 02/06/2016 11:45

Cleaning teeth (mine or DCs) counts as steps for my fitbit but it doesn't register if I push a trolley around the supermarket so I reckon it all evens out. Would knitting bump up your daily 'steps'?!

Whitney168 · 02/06/2016 11:50

Those who have Fitbits registering teeth cleaning, why don't you just wear them on your non-dominant hand (and register that on the account)?

(When I am in Fitbit crazed mode, I am the weird woman pushing a shopping trolley with one hand and careering round the supermarket ...)

kirinm · 02/06/2016 15:55

I wear mine on my non-dominant hand. Does everybody else?

LunaMay · 02/06/2016 16:53

I thought it was meant to be on non dominant hand too

YvaineStormhold · 02/06/2016 20:41

If you put it on the 'dominant' setting, it becomes less sensitive so your step count doesn't go silly when you clean your teeth.

Before I discovered this mine thought I was a marathon runner because I painted some furniture.
