To think there is a place reserved in hell for people that don't consider those behind them at concerts?

Won't say where I was last night but people sat on others shoulders in front of us at what was otherwise a great gig so I couldn't see anything. I'm almost 6 foot tall too.

I'm not complaining about people standing up, Confused

I would complain about the fuckwit in front of us who had a very long very loud phone conversation towards the end of the concert...i think i did complain about it actually, there may have been swearing involved Blush

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/05/2016 19:43

Another short arse off to see Bruce on Friday. We always go for raked seating whenever possible, or stand right at the back.

Went to see Carter USM in Manchester a few years ago. Flat floor and full of fat sweaty blokes. I saw Jimbob for one song, and Fruitbat as he leapt across the stage. That was it. The pair in front kept bellowing the lyrics into each other's faces. I may have farted to clear some space at one point...

dementedma · 30/05/2016 19:49

See, this is why I have never been able to see the attraction of going to gigs. Never been to one, have no desire to spend money squashed against someones back while standing up for hours being jostled. I just don't get it.

Mangoonmyshoulder · 30/05/2016 20:02

Sometimes I moan about being 6ft, but this thread has reminded me I love being tall Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 30/05/2016 20:02

Ooh see you there your

Or rather probably not as i dont have a clue what you look like Grin

TriJo · 30/05/2016 20:21

5'5" metalhead here. I seem to be a magnet for huge men at standing gigs - every time a 6ft+ man barges in front of me and I see nothing but trenchcoat.

Mari50 · 30/05/2016 20:31

YANBU, every gig I go to I find a nice spot, with a great view of the stage and some 6ft 4 arsehole with enormous hair and a gigantic head comes and stands in front of me- and dances like a loon. It's so tiresome constantly searching for a view.

toffee1000 · 30/05/2016 20:31

I don't understand how you can have a conversation at gigs- surely the music is really loud?? Unless it's like classical music or something.
I've not been to any kind of concert. Well, I did go to a Bootleg Beatles concert when I was much younger but I don't remember it. I went to the Monty Python reunion thing but I don't count that as a gig obviously. The O2 is quite useful in that they have screens.
I've been invited to a concert but didn't know the band at all, invite was from a friend who loves the band. I didn't really see the point in going as I didn't know their songs. I'm not a huge fan of really loud music anyway. I wouldn't go to a concert unless I really liked the band in question.

Wordsaremything · 30/05/2016 20:41

Good Lord, it wasn't like this last time I went to the Halle!

DrCoconut · 30/05/2016 20:47

Perfume gives me the rage (if I'm well enough with the migraine I will get). It is thoughtless to douse yourself in it and go to an enclosed place. It is as bad for people blocking the view at school concerts. DS2's was in a church. At first the vicar was polite and hinted that those standing might like to avail themselves of the spare seats. She ended up having to virtually tell them to f*ing move out of other people's way, they stood there with their phones out completely oblivious to the fact that they were a) in the way and b) being asked to move.

WalkingBlind · 30/05/2016 21:12

My ticket didn't say some people may stand Confused If I'd have thought that was going to happen I would have never bought them in a million years. Why oh why would you even want to stand when you're on the bloody balcony at the front (so get exactly the same view sitting and standing)

SellFridges · 30/05/2016 21:16

First up, best dressed.

Get there early, stand at the front.

Buy the best tickets, have fewer people in front of you.

And don't even get me started on the people who thought we should sit down nicely and tap our feet at a Take That concert. It clearly stated on all the tickets that people around you may stand. They make a very good DVD if you don't like that rule.

PrimalLass · 30/05/2016 21:23

1d seated gig with my then 7-year-old. Stupid woman in her 20s stood in front of DD the whole way throughAngry

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 30/05/2016 21:56

Must point out it wasnt a gig I was at where the woman stood dancing, it was a seated musical

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 30/05/2016 21:58

Going to see Bruce on Wednesday..

RufusTheReindeer · 30/05/2016 22:07

Hey fanjo

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/05/2016 22:14

Primal but standing in seating at a gig is absolutely fine. You can't expect people to just sit there.

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 30/05/2016 22:17

Also I'm of hobbity-stature and have NEVER seen an actual gig.

I'm a seasoned purveyor of elbows and arseholes.

The side screens at the Foos gig in Manc was wonderful....... a 50ft Dave Grohl faints

blackbirdmilkshake · 30/05/2016 22:44

you fight you way to near the front. If you can't be arsed doing that, pipe down

Onedaftmonkey · 30/05/2016 23:45

I feel your pain. I like to dance wildly in their direction and oh accidentally spill my pint down their backs. Or push in front of them. Flag waving fuckers at festivals do my nut too.

BreconBeBuggered · 31/05/2016 00:03

May I also add, people bringing large waving objects such as flags or balloons down to the barrier and waving them complacently in the eyeline of hundred of poor fuckers behind them, whilst they enjoy an unencumbered view?

I don't know why I go to gigs. I hate pretty much everyone else there Angry Bird

lalalalyra · 31/05/2016 00:13

I think if you want to stand a seated gig/in the seated section you should buy tickets in the back row. When we went to see Muse we booked seats because my relative can't stand and yet the inconsiderate twat who deliberately booked the front row thought it was acceptable to block the view of everyone by standing (not dancing, just standing).

That's just as rude as taller people deliberately view blocking in the standing section imo. The stewards were partly to blame though, after telling her to sit down a few times they gave up.

lalalalyra · 31/05/2016 00:14

*cant stand for long

conversationdiva · 31/05/2016 00:31

I agree, I don't understand people who buy seated tickets near the front then just stand there. It means they block the view of everyone behind (some of whom may be elderly or can't stand long for whatever reason.) Why don't they buy seats for the back row or go to the standing section if they want to stand?

kansasmum · 31/05/2016 06:05

Fanjo/Rufus- Bruce was awesome on Sunday. You will have a great time! Unless some twat keeps making you stand up every 10 minutes s to get past you to buy more beer!!
