No!
Why would I?
I'll take it now thank you!

More and more shops seem to be asking this and I fear I'm turning into a grumpy old lady.

They called you Madame? How quaint!

Hulababy · 28/05/2016 18:08

My email is also online so kept secure online. I also download things like the receipts and warranties to my computer, which is backed up every so often.

Just5minswithDacre · 28/05/2016 19:29

one for emails I want to get, the other for family.

Its the part of the job I hate and one reason Im leaving to go somewhere that barely uses technology at all!

StillRabbit · 28/05/2016 19:35

Emailed receipts are great as they are hard to lose (unless you delete the email). I get e receipts for all my outdoor gear from Cotswolds as part of their Explire More card and it us very useful.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 28/05/2016 19:37

I get called madame all the time. Blush

I've never been asked that, but wouldn't want it because of all the junk mail it will generate.

MiniCooperLover · 28/05/2016 19:40

Debenhams every time .// 'no' very straight faced from me every time and confusion from them Smile I do feel bad for them having to ask though. I imagine people make up the most awful email addresses all the time and they have to just take them down.

GooodMythicalMorning · 28/05/2016 19:44

We just laugh at the cringy ones. Thats why I have a sensible one as well.

There are a lot of 'big fat ' email addresses.

RufusTheReindeer · 28/05/2016 19:50

I work somewhere that does this

We ask if you want your receipt emailed and if you want to receive regular emails

You can have one or the other...or both

You can have your receipt emailed and then never hear from us again

Smile

Cant speak for all shops obviously

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 28/05/2016 19:50

I work in retail and we offer this

sandy at least 1 customer a day uses electronic receipt to make a return...... Shops are under no obligation to return items without a receipt.

CotswoldStrife · 28/05/2016 19:56

I was convinced this thread was going to be about Mountain Warehouse

'can we have your email address blah receipts blah?'
'I already get emails from you, thanks'
'so can we have your email address?'
'no, you already have it' sternly this time

TSSDNCOP · 28/05/2016 19:58

I have a email account for just such a purpose so it doesn't matter if it gets spammed.i don't even look at it unless I need the receipt or I know the shop has a discount code in play.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 28/05/2016 20:00

I'm getting upset now.

Where do you all shop?
How come no fucker ever asks me that?

EvansOvalPies · 28/05/2016 20:00

I bought a gift in Mothercare yesterday. Paid cash. Sales assistant asked for my postcode. I declined, so I got no till receipt (only gift receipts). I am in the midst of complaining about this. Why on earth do they need my postcode to issue me with a till receipt?

MrsJayy · 28/05/2016 20:01

Its great if you are buying electrical stuff your receipt is your years gaurantee in argo and if its in your email least you know where it is

MrsJayy · 28/05/2016 20:02

Argos* tut

MrsJayy · 28/05/2016 20:04

They ask your post code for market research i never give it they have to ask though as part of their job its a pain in the arse

Ifiwasabadger · 28/05/2016 20:05

YABU, love this email...bye bye piles of crap.

EvansOvalPies · 28/05/2016 20:06

But to not give me my till receipt because I refused to give my postcode? that can't surely be legal??

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 28/05/2016 20:11

No evans they absolutely should give you a 'normal' receipt

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 28/05/2016 20:24

I have two email accounts for this reason
Same here.

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 28/05/2016 20:25

and just make up a postcode

BitchAdministrator · 28/05/2016 20:31

I've never been asked this but think it sounds like a great idea

MrsJayy · 28/05/2016 20:36

Oh right i misread they gave you a gift receipt instead no thats not on

NoBetterName · 28/05/2016 20:38

Self employed, so anything bought for work needs a receipt for expenses. If I can store these in one place on the computer it makes my filling an awful lot easier than keeping physical files of receipts.
