To send my toddler to nursery with takeaway curry?!

I send my 3 year old DS to nursery with lunch and tea. Usually a sandwich/something on toast and then leftovers from the night before, spaghetti bolognaise, shepherds pie etc.
Tonight DP and I are having curry (takeaway) - non spicy vegetable based.
There's bloody shitloads left over!
He eats anything and everything, loves curry when I make one, very confident he will eat it.

DP said it would be an 'epic parenting fail' to send him with it, I think it's fine as a one off...

I think it's fine!

DiggersRest · 15/05/2016 19:30

Put it in your own container and let them think it's your own home made version? If he'd eat it, l would Smile

Artandco · 15/05/2016 19:31

I wouldn't. A takeaway curry will be way way over a 3 year olds recommended salt intake.

PurpleRibbons · 15/05/2016 19:31

I think the curry would be fine but not rice, notorious for causing food poisoning when reheated etc.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 19:32

I would.

Waffles80 · 15/05/2016 19:33

Too salty. Freeze and have it yourself next week.

SealSong · 15/05/2016 19:33

Too much salt in a takeaway I reckon.

Mooey89 · 15/05/2016 19:34

Hadn't considered the salt argument!

Mix some of those frozen micro veg into it if you want to be a bit healthier

poocatcherchampion · 15/05/2016 19:35

I'm only a no because of the salt.

poocatcherchampion · 15/05/2016 19:35

Also I am not really a curry - sharer Grin

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 19:37

I doing a toddler is going to be overloaded with salt from the occasional takeaway curry, give it a rest you lot giving OP a parenting food fright .

It's fine OP.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 19:37

*doubt

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 15/05/2016 19:38

Occasional curry (ie not every week) is fine, despite the salt.

Think of the salt content in cornflakes, bacon, sausages, cheese etc...

purplefizz26 · 15/05/2016 19:40

Bloody hell a one off take away isn't really a salt issue. Every week, yes too much, but a one off Hmm
Stick it in your own container and make your own rice and it'll be fineSmile

AgathaMystery · 15/05/2016 19:40

I totally would. In fact, DC will be having saag aloo for breakfast tomorrow Blush

XiCi · 15/05/2016 19:41

Yes, too high in salt, and alot of the non spicy korma type takeaways are also laden with sugar. I really can't imagine giving my 3 year old my leftover takeaway tbh, that's pretty crap

OddBoots · 15/05/2016 19:43

Does the nursery offer a reheat service or would he have it cold?

SqueegyBeckinheim · 15/05/2016 19:43

Yes to the curry, but no to any left over rice simply because reheated rice is a serious food poisoning risk.

Mooey89 · 15/05/2016 19:44

It's not a korma type.
It's a vegetable Bhuna.
But thanks for letting me know I'm crap.

insancerre · 15/05/2016 19:44

Why do they not provide food?

Mooey89 · 15/05/2016 19:44

oldboots they heat it.

OP posts:
Mooey89 · 15/05/2016 19:45

They just don't. It's really annoying but at least that way all allergies and tastes are catered for.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 19:46

Ds3 just had a whole Bhuna to himself, he said it was very nice and ate the lot.

ParadiseCity · 15/05/2016 19:46

I'm really crap then because I'd consider it and then rule it out as its too nice for a 3 year old and would keep it for myself. I could start a Facebook theme 'Tag me if you know a crap selfish mum and add a picture of a takeaway'
