To ask if/when your baby's eyes changed colour?

DD is about 8 months old and still has her enormous baby blues. Mine are green and DP's are a dark hazel, so I've been expecting them to change for ages. People in both families have blue eyes so there will be genes in there somewhere but I was sure they'd get beaten into submission by the overwhelming mass of brown genes!

It's only a little light hearted thing but I've gotten used to her beautiful baby blues and would rather love it if they stayed. Did your baby stay with the colour they were born with, or did they change, and when?

We come from a family where everyone has dark brown eyes.
My first DD had blue eyes for at least 12 months. They were getting darker and grayer but were still mostly blue. By age 2 they were dark brown.
My second DD only had blue eyes for a couple of months. They turned dark brown much more quickly. Strangely though she has much lighter hair than the rest of us.

I'm an Asian and African mix with a bit of Scot. Me, my brother and youngest sister all have varying shades of brown, but had black eyes until around 6 months old, proper bits of coal. DSis2 got all oifbthe recessive genes and was born with white blond hair, pure white skin and grey eyes. She now has eyes that are the greener end of hazel but can appear grey, green or blue depending on what top she's wearing and her hair has strong auburn tints even though it's a very light brown. She still doesn't tan, although the rest of us can pass between Indian to Malay depending on his much sun we get.

DS has chocolate brown eyes with a bluish rim, where as DD has hazel eyes with a dark slice, and her eye colour appears to change depending on what she's wearing as well.

Another data point: my DS had the pure bright blue eyes of my DH until 18 months, but now has the dark ring around the edge of his blue eyes that I have.

DD1, bright blue eyes just like DH. They have never faded, changed colour, nothing.

DD2 (I was hoping for a brown eyed girl like me) Navy blue, then slate grey/blue, then lighter grey/blue etc etc until we have DD2 with exactly the same colour eyes as DD1 over 2 years later!

The geneticist in me was fascinated seeing the difference between the 2.

If it helps at all, DDs are now age 8 & 9.

My dad is of Indian descent and my mother is Irish/English. All of my (fairly large) complement of siblings had very dark slatey grey eyes which changed to brown (not sure when, but going on the photos I have of me, well before a year old). My DD who is a quarter Indian descent and three quarters white had exactly the same dark slatey grey eyes but by four months they had got a lot lighter. They are now grey/blue. Exactly the same colour as my grandmother on my mother's side. I think her eyes have got greyer as she's got older. They were pale piercing blue with a black ring at the edge as a baby. It was a bit freaky tbh. With my genetic background and two brown-eyed parents, I'd always foolishly assumed I'd have a brown-eyed baby!
