To give out details about a friends private life?

DailyFailEditingCunts · 09/05/2016 02:15

Don't want to give out too much details as it's about a friend but long story short, she was contacted about 6 months ago by a company about giving some interviews and her life after being attacked and was offered private cousin lingerie in return. She allowed them to follow her round with a camera for a few days and another a few months later. She signed a contract so they had the rights to the video and they published it on TV last week. However they majorly edited what she said and I've being trying to explain what she said and stick up for her as there has been a lot of horrible things said.

Only now I'm worried I have overstepped the mark. But I've seen her come so far from it all and I don't want her to start declining again from someone saying these things to her face.

Oh and she still hasn't received the counselling.

A good point from Arf

RumAppleGinger · 09/05/2016 13:44

The only person I'm disgusted at is you.

The OP is seeking advice to support a friend.

taxpayerwaste · 09/05/2016 13:44

AliceInUnderpants
Doesn't want to. when she can get married and free xboxs and takeaways on the taxpayer.

Jeremy doesn't follow you around filming.

fastdaytears · 09/05/2016 13:46

Jeremy doesn't follow you around filming

Probably for the best. I have a VERY dull life

taxpayerwaste · 09/05/2016 13:46

RumAppleGinge

That's why she gave so much info we can easily find info on her, after people told her not to be spreading it.

Lemonade1 · 09/05/2016 13:47

Sock puppet taxpayer??

Reporting OP as this is all very odd.

DailyFailEditingCunts · 09/05/2016 13:47

The waste of space is the one who attacked her. And he gets a nice new flat all paid for him on benefits and extra money if he doesn't attack anyone else. Works out about £1550 for a single guy. And yes she bought him an xbox. For his 21st birthday and she had to take it out of savings. They didn't go out drinking and don't smoke. And there's no way they're spending £1500 on a wedding. They're going to a registry with 2 witnesses. £500 including dress suit and liesences.

I have no idea whats going on now Confused

MatthewWrightIsThick · 09/05/2016 13:51

What an odd thread ConfusedHmm

Oh dear OP, this hasn't gone as planned. Probably best if you stop getting involved in other people's self-made dramas even if you are well intentioned
I think you managed to give out the perfect amount of info to out your friend.

Report this thread and get it deleted.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 09/05/2016 13:52

Hi all,
We are getting a number of reports in about this thread, but it is going to be a hard one to manage with the OP posting such easily searchable details. Nature abhors a vacuum and all that, people will definitely start googling.
If you wish to start again, DFEC, or delete this thread, please get in touch, but as it stands we have removed some of taxpayers' posts as goady but will not necessarily seek to protect identities of people whose details you have effectively provided.
Hope that explains our position.

DailyFailEditingCunts · 09/05/2016 13:52

And yes I have nc because I've mentioned Eleanor before and I didn't want to risk that bit of it becoming public. I was trying to keep her details out of it but it was hard to explain.

OP posts:
Obliviated · 09/05/2016 14:00

Im confused.

She doesn't work because she has anxiety after being attacked?

He worked until a few weeks ago when he lost his zero hour contract, but is looking for work.

Sounds fine to me. They can save their money any way they want too.

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 09/05/2016 14:01

And yes I have nc because I've mentioned Eleanor before and I didn't want to risk that bit of it becoming public

That ship sailed a few minutes into the thread OP.

DeathByMascara · 09/05/2016 14:02

And now you've given her name?? Nice one!

Liiinooo · 09/05/2016 14:08

What she is doing (if the DM article IS her) seems perfectly fair to me. Benefits are not generous so if she is managing to save for something important to her I am very impressed.

However whether that is her or not , YABU. I understand your concern comes from a loving place but this is her life, her details, her story. Let her know you're there for her, offer her support etc but do not continue to put intimate details of her life history into the public sphere. If she wants them out there she can orchestrate that herself in her own time and on her own terms.

blindsider · 09/05/2016 14:11

Yup a google of Eleanor Attack and TV explains exactly who you are talking about. Hmm

GarlicShake · 09/05/2016 14:11

I've just read the Daily Mail article. Thanks, troll Hmm They sound really sweet to me! I can't see why trying to save £100 a month out of £765 disposable income is a bad thing to do? And a second-hand xbox for £80 is a bargain, she's obviously good at this money-saving thing.

Daily Mail comments are mostly written by the sort of person who sits hunched up in the pub, slagging off everything and everybody, getting other folk to buy them a drink but never buying one back. And has dirty fingernails.

woah!

BeYourselfUnlessUCanBeAUnicorn · 09/05/2016 14:31

Nice way to draw more attention to this non story OP. I would never have even heard of this crap if it wasn't for your thread. Cannot believed you have posted your friends name! You aren't very bright at all. Took a few seconds of googling to find out who it was. Suspect that was your aim all along.

Benefits Brides? What a load of old shit! When will this constant stream of benefit bashing programmes end! Who gives a crap. A cynic would say they are commissioned by the Tories to get the whole country against anyone who claims even a penny in benefits and spends it on something other than a bill or food.

Sundance01 · 09/05/2016 14:32

For reasons I am not going to go into members of my family has been spread all over the front of a major tabloid and on another occasion headline news on TV and all the local press. We had 3 TV crews camped outside our house.

To be honest - very few people even realised it was us. And those who did forgot about it very quickly.

Try and reassure your friend it will be a 9 day wonder and everyone will forget - and stop fanning the flames just remind people ALL media lie and exaggerate etc and not to believe all you read in the papers/watch on TV. Oh and recommend she suspends ALL her social media profiles for a couple of weeks.

listsandbudgets · 09/05/2016 14:33

OP I am glad you're trying to support her.

In this have everything now, pay later society its really refreshing to hear a story about a couple who are actually SAVING UP for something that really matters to them. They should be held up as a good example not vilified.

BillSykesDog · 09/05/2016 14:35

OP, if it's any consolation to you I read the story a couple of days ago. And I'm a Conservative voter. And even I couldn't really see what the fuss was about. She's clearly ill, he is temporarily out of work but actively looking. I can't see any problem. They seem like quite a nice young couple making the best of a bit of a shitty situation and hoping to improve their lot in the future. Really can't see any problem beyond feeling sorry for him that the work available is so shitty.

I am definitely not the other poster. And I released her name after it was mentioned. And my Google results showed someone else?
