Absolutely livid!! DD, DH and I we're in the garden having a lovely little BBQ that btw I paid for, when DD decided to go inside and get her watering can. She proceeded to start to pour over me, I said please don't do that, I have my contact lenses in which can be dangerous with water, have my phone next to me and quite frankly I don't want to be wet. DD backed off but DH was constantly trying to splash me Angry then ever tidally DH pours the whole thing over me, blinded by the bloody water in my eye I grabbed what I thought was DH wrist and unfortunately got DD in the eye, big scratch crying her eyes out. DH proceeds to scream come here please you've seriously hurt her eye and then make me feel entirely shit about it. DD went downstairs after she calmed down and I asked DH to help me tidy uk to which he replied I want to relax right now I'll help you after to which I said well I wanted to relax in the garden and I wasn't allowed to which he continued to scream that I'm boring, miserable etc. AIBU to fucking hate him right now?!

By the way op your husband is an utter prick.

gamerchick · 07/05/2016 15:52

I am envious you have BBQ weather though, I'm bloody freezing here.

CheesyWeez · 07/05/2016 15:56

I'd be absolutely hopping mad. When is it ever fun to pour water on someone / splash them in the face? Never. It's an aggressive thing to do. You had said you didn't want them to do it.
Wait until he's asleep in bed, pour water on him and LTB. He needs to show more respect for you. I'm being serious, I would find this unacceptable. It is not boring or miserable to be upset at such behaviour. Don't doubt yourself, he's minimizing it but it's outrageous.

DailyMailAreAFuckingJoke · 07/05/2016 15:57

I did yes, apologies Nanna.

Must start wearing specs more often.

Nannawifeofbaldr · 07/05/2016 16:00

Daily Grin easily done.

I would be very grumpy if someone poured water on me...

maisiejones · 07/05/2016 16:08

I'd be really pissed off if someone did this to me. Why do some think the OP is a misery for not joining in this 'fun'? I hate horseplay and practical jokes of any kind. They're not funny, they're juvenile and unkind.

CocktailQueen · 07/05/2016 16:10

OP, YANBU. You had said no - both your dd and dh should have gone somewhere to pour water over each other and left you out of it.

Your h was well out of order to shout and swear at you.

You are allowed to choose what YOU want to do!

How old is your h? He sounds like a peach Hmm
And how old is dd?

Tryingtostayyoung · 07/05/2016 16:15

DD is 3 and DH is 28 going on 13. I actually think that what annoys me more than any of this is that he genuinely doesn't think he's done anything wrong and that he just wanted me to "play" with them. Angry

Costacoffeeplease · 07/05/2016 16:23

It all sounds pretty hideous really

Nanny0gg · 07/05/2016 16:32

Is this really something to ask about on here? It's very personal and we don't know any of you or your family.

Do you use forums much?

LilacSpunkMonkey · 07/05/2016 16:37

Contact lenses are dangerous with water? Since when?

I've been using them for 15 years now and never had an issue with them with water. Given that your eye actually produces water (tear ducts) I'm not sure that's quite true.

Unless yours are made of some weird material.

UmbongoUnchained · 07/05/2016 16:38

It's the bacteria in water lilac that's dangerous. They breed under the lens that why you should never wear them in the shower or rinse them under the tap.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 07/05/2016 16:47

Plus there was the mobile phone to consider as well.

But yes to bacteria in water breeding under contact lenses - not clever to muck around with contacts and water, especially if it's out of a grubby watering can or similar.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 07/05/2016 16:54

Mine are continuous wear. I don't take them out for the shower and swim in them. I've never been told by an optician to avoid water.

Tryingtostayyoung · 07/05/2016 17:24

Nanny I thought the same 😂
Yes been wearing monthly lenses for about 8 years and had it permanently drummed into me by opticians to never let tap water anywhere near them as it can blind you if the bacteria gets trapped and grows underneath.
Thanks everyone, sometimes he just makes me feel like I'm crazy, glad to hear I'm not he only one that this sort of stuff annoys. Everyone that suggested getting him back with ice cubes etc excellent idea in theory unfortunately he would think this was hilarious and see it is an invitation for all out war!! We have spoken about it now and he apologised for his crimes especially calling me boring and miserable although he pointed out that he waited until DD was out of earshot but still definitely not the point.

You sound like a tightly coiled spring. They were only messing around

Tryingtostayyoung · 07/05/2016 17:31

Confucious curious as to why you think this? Maybe I could get more of an understanding as I really don't understand. If I don't want to have water thrown on me, ask politely and am ignored am I not within my right to get annoyed? Do you always feel in the mood to "play?" Sometimes I just want to relax

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/05/2016 17:31

In this house we respect each other enough to listen if someone says 'stop' to anything. I think that teaching children respect, consent and personal boundaries is more important than seeming like a good sport. Oddly, we have massive amounts of fun and spend a lot of time chasing each other around with water guns. We just stop when the other person says so.

Tryingtostayyoung · 07/05/2016 17:34

Mrsterry that is exactly my point. There are a lot of days like this in my house but I just didn't want to today and I wasn't respected when i said no, I do appreciate that I am definitely more uptight than DH but I don't think that anyone wants this all the time.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 07/05/2016 17:36

You say 'uptight' I say 'less of a wanker'. Potato, potahto.

heyhulahoop · 07/05/2016 17:48

It is not uptight to not want water poured over your head.
HTH.

WhereInTheWorldToNext · 07/05/2016 17:52

Had you been drinking?

Seems like a weird overreaction to family horseplay

malika54 · 07/05/2016 18:15

I'd be pissed off. It's not a huge deal in itself, what is a huge deal is that he's not respecting your boundaries in front of your daughter and then giving you shit about it, presumably in front of her too. No means no, it's quite straightforward really.

DailyMailAreAFuckingJoke · 07/05/2016 18:30

I suspect this is not the first time the OP's H has ignored her when she's asked him to stop doing something to her. Hence her reaction - it's a cumulative effect of being fed up and pissed off at not being listened to and it all boils over.

Tryingtostayyoung · 07/05/2016 18:32

Whereintheworld are you serious? I would say majority of posters have agreed that they would not find his funny at all and would get annoyed, I don't think I have to be drinking to not appreciate it and no I was not drinking.
