To get a nose and lips job?

Sunshinegirl2 · 07/05/2016 13:57

Hey everyone,

For the past 16 years I have been very self conscience of the size of my nose and my lips. I have a bulbous tip, and wide nostrils and my lips are huge- people in the past have told me I look like a monkey Sad, so it's that sort of image.

I have no pictures of DS and I together, and I always refuse my friends to take pictures of me. I get self conscience going out in public and talking to people face to face.

The only nice features I have is my eye shapes and I'm worried that if I go ahead with the plastic surgery, my eye shape will change.

Also as I am of Caribbean decent, I'm worried that they are not many surgeons that do more ethnic plastic surgeries.

I feel like my huge nose and lips is having a huge effect on my daily life. What would you guys do? Should I consider plastic surgery?

Would the shape of my eyes change though tea?

Why would you want to look more white???

Do you know how much money is spent by women trying to get bigger lips!

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2016 14:52

Where has the OP said she wants to 'look more white'??

Sunshinegirl2 · 07/05/2016 14:52

Vix I don't want to look more white? Where did you get that from?

Sunshinegirl2 · 07/05/2016 14:53

Thanks worra I was planning to speak to my GP about it, to see if he can recommend a surgeon for me.

I'm baffled as to how a black person can look more white anyway?

findingmyfeet12 · 07/05/2016 14:54

I have an issue with my physical appearance op. I would happily spend money having it corrected (if I could afford it) as I'm convinced it would make me happy.

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2016 14:55

X posted.

I think that's the way to go. There are so many cowboys out there, but hopefully your GP can tell you what to look out for.

Good luck in whatever your decide to do Thanks

findingmyfeet12 · 07/05/2016 14:57

I think the more "white" issue is in relation to more Caucasian shaped features.

memyselfandaye · 07/05/2016 15:31

Have a look at before and after pictures of Jennifer Grey, she is unrecognisable, her nose job really changed her.

As for your lips, its a shame you don't like them, people pay out thousands of pounds to keep their lips plumped up with fillers, you have what many people want.

It's your face and your decision, but do your research.

Sunshinegirl2 · 07/05/2016 15:35

Oh wow Jennifer Grey was very pretty before the nose surgery. How come it altered her face so much?

It sounds as if people were being racist to be honest!! There are many beautiful black women with features like yours and that's nothing to be ashamed of. Look at kylie Jenner and countless others who want bigger lips. If you genuinely don't like the way you look then I wouldn't tell you not to do something about it but it shouldn't just be because of how other people make you feel. Xx

TealLove · 07/05/2016 15:44

The nose is at the centre of the face. It is the basis of the facial structure changing it does make other features more exposed, like the eyes. They seem bigger when the nose is made smaller. Look at babies they have huge eyes but eyes don't grow the face does.

PestilentialCat · 07/05/2016 15:47

"more white" wasn't the right way to put it. What I was referring to was the trend of preferring caucasian attributes among certain groups - celebrities - it seems such a shame that beauty is not always appreciated across all ethnicities - everyone ends up looking the same - narrow noses, straight(ened) hair - & not necessarily in a good way

AdoraKiora · 07/05/2016 15:50

This is such a sad thread.

Why do you think your African features are ugly?

Dont buy into the messages that tell you they are.

And dont send the message to your children that black = ugly. Please Sad.

AdrenalineFudge · 07/05/2016 15:57

This is such a sad thread. However, it is your life and your face thus your decision. I sense a great deal of self-hatred / resentment that's built up over the years.

TooGood2BeFalse · 07/05/2016 15:59

Am I reading the thread incorrectly??!!! WHERE does the OP say she doesn't like her features because of her ethnicity and that she wants to look white?? I can't see that anywhere, what a bizarre assumption. I would doubt very much that if the OP was white and wanted cosmetic surgery, there would be posters who say 'oh, please don't hate your white features, please don't try to look black, won't someone think of the children!' etc.

OP, do what makes you happy. Just do your research and find a professional you are really happy with. Wishing you the very best.

shabbychic1 · 07/05/2016 16:26

Oh OP Michaela Cole is beautiful! If you've been feeling down about your appearance for 16 years I would suggest your first step would be to talk to someone like a counsellor or a coach. So many people live with body negative images because of silly comments others might have said- or living in a society that says about Hong outside of the 'magazine norm' is wrong and can't be beautiful. Remember that doesn't have to be your truth but if you love it you also put it out there. Why shouldn't your face be beautiful and admired? Just because of someone else's views? I know very few people who resemble the societal norm we are constantly sold (and they are very likely to have body issues along with the rest of us) but I know many many beautiful strong people who others want to be around! It might not seem like it right now but after you've talked this through you could totally change your mind and admire/ love your beautiful features. And save rather a lot of money to, for example, spend on enjoying being you? Talk to your gp and say you're so down about your looks you're thinking of plastic surgery and could they arrange some counselling please? It could change your life! Flowers

TealLove · 07/05/2016 17:30

The OP never said she wanted to look white! She wants advice to make her nose less bulbous.
not everyone is born with looks they adore and there are things you can do to change that thanks goodness.

findingmyfeet12 · 07/05/2016 17:33

The op has been unhappy for years and people have made comments about her looks. Telling her to embrace her looks is not helpful imho.

Doinmummy · 07/05/2016 17:39

I have had a nose job, I wanted the tip to be less bulbous but my excellent surgeon said that it's very difficult to alter the soft tissue and make it look natural. I just had the bump flattened out in the end.

It hasn't changed the shape of my eyes at all.

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2016 17:44

This ^^. It's about as helpful as all the posts saying Michaela Cole is beautiful. That's just a matter of personal opinion and it's hardly going to make the OP changer her mind.

Doinmummy · 07/05/2016 17:51

The dislike for my nose stemmed from one comment by a 'friend' when I was 12 years old. From that moment on I hated it and nothing anyone said would change my mind.

If you want to have the op ,Op, then I would say go for it. Make your expectations very very clear to the surgeon , who , if they are any good, will tell you that you are expecting too much Grin and will explain exactly what is possible.

AerithEarthling · 07/05/2016 17:53

I had a nose job and yes you will need an ethnic rhinoplasty surgeon. I used Dr juilien de silva he does ethnic rhinoplasty, my nose looks very natural but he is expensive.

AerithEarthling · 07/05/2016 17:53

he is based in hamersmith london
