Why do they think it's such big news? I'm sure if you live in Scotland then it's interesting. But as 92% of the UK don't live there, why go on and on about it? It's the second time today I've had to turn the news off because I was so bored by it.

Yabu

I'm in south east England and what goes on in Scotland has no direct affect on me.

However we are living in hugely exciting and unpredictable times with eu referendum and possible Scottish independence. It's all absolutely fascinating. And very important.

originalmavis · 07/05/2016 08:48

It's politics and pretty interesting.

At least it breaks the monotony of some football team winning sonethibg at adds of a zillion to one.

TVs and radios do have an off button, and reading the newspaper isn't compulsory.

ForalltheSaints · 07/05/2016 08:50

Ironically the SNP victory in one sense is not- they have fewer seats and could not get a majority in the Scottish Parliament for a second independence referendum were the UK to vote to leave the EU.

IndridCold · 07/05/2016 08:53
  1. What happens in Scottish politics can and will affect us all on one way or another.

  2. It is actually very interesting at the moment with the SNP seeming to slip slightly, and the Tories doing better than Labour. In Scotland!

I live in Cornwall, we didn't even have any elections.

Aspergallus · 07/05/2016 08:55

OP if you feel that Scottish elections are as interesting to you as the US, I certainly hope you aren't a unionist.

Honestly.

I'm so sick of Academies, Boris, high speed rail link, where the London airport should be, failing northern England industries etc etc etc.

But they are all UK news aren't they?

It's this sort of everyday disinterest in Scottish affairs that makes us feel shackled to, rather than in harmonious union with the rUK.

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 08:59

See the op isnt bothered about the Welsh elections no mention of plaid cymru being everywhere

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 07/05/2016 09:01

Try being Welsh , the only bit the was interesting enough to mention was that we now have fucking kippers in the assembly.
But hey the nanoseconds of coverage we got will make up for the hours of news anout academies, junior dr strikes etc etc etc that are not even happening here in Wales.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 07/05/2016 09:03

Football coverage is the biggest bore to me.

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 09:04

We have had a lot about the welsh election come here and get your news Grin oh our Junior Drs are not striking either

LagunaBubbles · 07/05/2016 09:05

Readytorage, you've missed the point of the thread - it's not (yet) another "I hate the SNP" thread but someone complaining about media coverage of Scottish politics on the BBC, a national broadcaster. Ironic really as the No vote kept Scitland in this nation.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 07/05/2016 09:13

Boris maybe you should have phrased your question better then and perhaps complained about how the BBC cover certain issues rather than wording it in such a way as to sound a bit anti Scottish or SNP.

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 09:16

But it is anti scottish the op didnt mean generaloutside England news coverage

loveMyWeeDog · 07/05/2016 09:26

Sort of off topic but the outcry in England about having to pay 5p for a plastic bag was all over the news. In Scotland we've been paying for them for years and it didn't make national news 😂

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 09:29

Oh yeah carrier bag angst

loveMyWeeDog · 07/05/2016 09:34

And didn't we all know about it for weeks.

readytorage · 07/05/2016 09:39

laguna I couldn't careless!

Wooooohooooooo!

AyeAmarok · 07/05/2016 09:39

Oh bugger off with your Scotland bashing shite.

Who is running Scotland, and opposing, is way, way more significant to the rest of the UK that what latest twerp is London Mayor.

I couldn't give a fig who the London Mayor is, but I don't complain about the BBC covering it.

YABU.

readytorage · 07/05/2016 09:40
  • care less.

If ob upset you then....oh well

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 09:40

Angela Rippons angry about nothing programme did food poisoning tests on re useable carrier bags Grin

pambeesley · 07/05/2016 09:44

Just a bitter labour supporter not liking that their party did so badly in Scotland.

That is a huge for the uk as someone else said it pretty much means labour can't get a majority.

Ps. Labour also did badly in England except for London. You should make huge gains at the moment, even Hague did that for the Tories!

MorrisZapp · 07/05/2016 09:44

Politics is all about perception. My FB feed is currently full of lengthy rants about the BBC 's hateful and bigoted failure to mention the SNP in their post election coverage.

MrsJayy · 07/05/2016 09:47

It is all about Ruth atm the fact the snp won seems to be have sidelined

LagunaBubbles · 07/05/2016 09:51

Clearly you don't care readytorage but it's hardly a worthwhile contribution eh? Plenty of other anti-SNP threads you can celebrate on, complaints of media coverage of Scotland on a national broadcaster clearly doesn't bother you either where Scottish politics have every right to be reported.

LagunaBubbles · 07/05/2016 09:52

I'm not upset, it's just another anti-Scottish thread which is tiresome and highlights exactly what a lot of people think of Scotland anyway.

MorrisZapp · 07/05/2016 09:54

Yes but that's how news works innit. We all knew the snp would win a third term, all the polls suggested it, it's news but it's hardly surprising.

The 'upset' result has been the tory resurgence. I'm glued to the coverage and have been talking about it all day!

I think Ruth Davidson is a very interesting new force in Scottish politics and who knows, she may even influence rUK.

This is big, I reckon.
