to wonder why on earth HQ chose a mahoosive photo of a baby with pierced ears to head the new home page?

Confused

I can't think of a single topic which has caused more bun fighting on here than baby ear piercing. The vast majority (I'd guess at least 80% ??) of Mumsnetters have really strong feelings against this practice.

What an odd choice!

Every day's a fun day on MN.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2016 17:03

Who even looks at the homepage anyway? Confused

WakeUpFast · 04/05/2016 17:05

I didn't even notice the ears, I was too mesmerised by those goochy woochy neck rolls!! That is one chubster baby! (Can you tell I'm broody?!)

IPityThePontipines · 04/05/2016 17:14

If MN remove that picture because of this very depressing thread, that would be a very bad move.

I suppose we'll all be happy when all of the babies featured are boys wearing tutus and pink glitter headbands and all girls below the age of 20 are unpierced, playing with Action Men and wearing non-gender specific dungarees? Hmm

Quite.

And at the idea that including a baby who isn't white is somehow being "right on".

bibbitybobbityyhat · 04/05/2016 17:20

Roffle at the fumming on this thread.

It looks like HQ are going to be changing the pictures on the home page every day - they're all different today.

So no need to be so jumpy!

I do hope they can find a way to shoehorn flatcap baby on somehow Grin.

Fuming? You mean some people disagreeing with you (and others not) and some pointing out your grasp of stats is rubbish?

It is a crap thread and MNHQ's response is a bit wimpy.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 04/05/2016 17:34

I'm imagining working class babies now, having conversations about going down t'mine in Monty Python style.

I'm easily amused.

FarrowandBallAche · 04/05/2016 17:36

They probably chose that photo because they knew this would happen!Grin

It's not about people disagreeing with me, it's about the complete and utter overreaction to a bit of bemused pondering!

Fumming (sic), that's what it is.

OP posts:
SeeYouTomorrow · 04/05/2016 17:44

OP, that is so disingenuous.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 04/05/2016 17:48

If you say so. You appear to need to have the last word on what I mean, so do please have it.

Fumming, a new word, I love it OP Grin

Merd · 04/05/2016 17:50

I have been on MN for years now and I have totally missed this debate. How? How?! misses the point

Ifailed · 04/05/2016 17:54

At the moment, the front page is telling me:
"Colour as real as you are"
An advert for some kind of expensive hair dye product, because obviously the hair we were born with is useless.

MadameDePompom · 04/05/2016 17:55

You fummed a bit yourself OP when you called someone 'obtuse' and 'hard of thinking'.

MadameDePompom · 04/05/2016 17:56

Fumming, a new word, I love it OP

'Fumming' is an old 'un. It's usually coupled with 'discusting'.

Oh come on. Some of us actually LIKE to dye our hair and don't take it as an insult that there are products available!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 04/05/2016 18:06

Who did I call hard of thinking?

OP posts:
Ifailed · 04/05/2016 18:07

Queenbean
there is also an advert for ASDA. That was my (badly) made point, I don't care for either, but that doesn't prevent me from reading the content.

MadameDePompom · 04/05/2016 18:08

Okay you implied the person you called obtuse was hard of thinking.

MadameDePompom · 04/05/2016 18:08

No need to fume though!

Chavvy is a highly offensive word, look up it's origin

FarrowandBallAche · 04/05/2016 18:13

Did someone really say the baby was chavvy?
