AIBU to be frightened and worried

Im posting on here for traffic as I'm worried out of my mind. I have had bleeding after sex for around a year. I went to the GP and i was referred for a colopscopy. I had some biopsies done and they came back as CIN 1, so minor abnormal changes and i was told to come back in a year. However, the last 3 months the bleeding has become worse and sex has become uncomfortable at times. I was going to ring and make another appointment with the GP when my routine smear test came through. I went and got it done around 3 weeks ago. I had a letter turn up this morning to say that my smear test has come back abnormal and i have also tested positive for high risk (for cervical cancer) HPV and i have an appointment at the hospital next week for further tests. Im so worried. Last year when i went to the GP the wait time at the hospital was around 3 months for an appointment after the smear test result so I'm now worried that its only a week this time. Iv also had a phone call today from the hospital about the appointment. Im worried about this result, along with my other symptoms and the fact my grandmother had cancer of the cervix/womb and had a hysterectomy as a result. I am only 25, i have two young children one of which is disabled and i haven't been able to stop crying all day thinking the worst. Does anyone have any similar experience or can even just offer me some advice.
Thanks

@thebigmummabear I had a letter saying I had abnormal cells and had to go to the hospital, I had a camera up and they had a look, put some dye up there to check for abnormal cells and I didn't have any, I don't know wether yours will be the same obviously but just wanted to let you know how it was for me, it was just to double check x

AmandaJayne37 look up Jo's Trust, it's a cervical cancer charity. They have lots of information on their site, as well as a forum where you can ask specific questions about treatment etc.

All the best.

I have HPV & CIN 3. Due my 4th LLETZ in 2 weeks time, babies are gonna be off the cards if this doesn't sort it as I wont have any cervix left.
You will be ok- don't Google- very big hugs. You are being treated correctly & they will take good care of you xxx

I was same bleeding went smear test came back abnormal "a typical cells) had a referral to hospital had a colposcopy dr found endometriosis but also needed to see in deeper went Back week later had a hystrocopy that's not correct spelling, had abnormal cells they did a lletz which basically is burning cells off, was uncomfortable felt like period coming for few days, no more bleeding have a smear test every 12 months had my first smear since this in August 2016 and all clear. It's great the technology we have now a days you are great to be getting this all checked out any body changes need to be checked out believe me I know this.

Sure it's nothing but you've done them right thing and not left it! Wishing you good news op Flowers

I had cervical cancer, very early stages. I had a large loop excision, or lletz, where they removed the unusual areas. I went due to bleeding after sex that got more heavy and more often. They initially thought I had cin III but found that some of the cells removed during the lletz were cancerous so they then did a cone biopsy under a general anaesthetic. Since then I have had other episodes of bleeding but all my follow up smears and colposcopies have been normal. This was 8 years ago and I went on to have two children.

To echo pp, avoid google but do look on Jo's Trust and cancer research's cervical cancer page. I found that to be enormously helpful and reassuring.

We're here to hold your hand on MN. As they've asked you to go back so soon it does indicate that there may well be a problem and you're bound to worry anyway BUT try to look at it this way - you're being seen soon so whatever it is - they're doing what they can to help more quickly. I'm sure you're in the best possible hands.

Treatment has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years so you're in a better place than your Grandma. Chin up, lass. [tea]
