AIBU to be a bit scared of what I've just seen in my shed

Pictured here. I think I've seen these before but not so many or so big. I thought they were just some feature in the wood of a cheap shed Confused but now I realise something or somethings have actually (gulp) built them. It looks like something(s) is living in them. I saw something winged on one of them Shock then I ran away.

We had one in our shed exactly this time last year. There tend to be very few wasps in them at this time of year, so I'd get rid now before the numbers swell. We got a foam spray from B&Q and covered it, then knocked it down at put it in the bin. Job done.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/05/2016 21:31

Does seem to be unusual to have two close together for waspy wasps.

Trunkadunk · 03/05/2016 21:38

MSLG What the fuck. That shit should come with a trigger warning. I'd just leave the country.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 03/05/2016 22:11

Can you spy on them from a safe distance and check they're not nice wasps before doing anything? If they're common wasps, get rid. If they're those rather nice potter wasps, leave them be.

TheFlyingFauxPas · 03/05/2016 22:33

Thanks for all the handy tips and advice. I like it that they may be posh potter wasps rather than some common ones 😉 However this is a job I just don't want to do. Don't really want to keep them! I've always fancied having bees. Maybe they heard me and thought they'd be welcome instead. Well they're not. evil stingy bastards

I must use shed. I keep my dog poo bags in there. Plus and absolute ton of unnecessary shite gardening stuff.

How quickly can you pack and leave the country?

Justaboy · 03/05/2016 22:56

Bees don't usually habit that sort of structure. If they're bothering you a can of Murphys wasp destroyer thrown at and around the nest, wait till its dark, will see 'em all dead by the morning .

Have you seen any as on a close look they look long unused?.

PigletJohn · 03/05/2016 23:00

Having been stung a few times, I would kill them. I would not knock them off the roof so they came out to attack me. I would wait until dark, when they should all be in the nest, spray with wasp nest foam from the doorway, and shut the door. The next day I would look through the window for any sign of life before going in.

I have no objection to wildlife in the wild, but don't want to share my life with them.

I thought you were worried about the sinister looking 'eye' 'holes' on your shed wall. Looks like you are being watched. Hmm

( Missed the point didn't I?!)

That's nothing. I found one of these in my shed the other day:
