To wonder when your baby slept through the night

More for passing trade as you don't get much on the other boards.

Just wondering what age your DC(s) slept through the night and what hours you classed as through the night?

Sorry for the boring AIBU post

Thank you for your replies. It has made me feel better about my DD.
When I voice these concerns in RL I basically get told that I'm an idiot by most people

If your baby is growing well and is content when awake, well done you.

Just5minswithDacre · 03/05/2016 14:42

I'm surprised to realise I can't remember now, which just goes to show that all things do pass, even the ones that once made you cry in the bath.

gladisgood · 03/05/2016 14:55

My DD slept 12 hours from being newborn ( I didn't! I fed her at around 11 pm , and then woke to dream feed again at about 3 am.) It is 7 until 7 in this house!

We had a sticky time when she was teething ( around 7 months) where she woke crying several times. A cuddle, a munch on her teething toy, nice feed/ milk and some more calpol sorted things out!

My foster babies didn't sleep for more than 10 mins in a row for the first few weeks - but eventually they reliably slept 12 hours, too. A nice comforting bedtime routine of bath, clean pyjamas, full tummy & a bedtime story have all worked wonders with my lot. Grin

As long as I get 6 hours, I'd class as through the night. I didnt get that until 18months with DD1. She was a pain for night time waking (still is at nearly 4 years). DD2 started almost right away. She made it clear sleep was more important than food. She's 16 weeks and now sleeps 10-10.5 hours on a night. Is a bugger during the day Wink

memememe94 · 03/05/2016 15:07

DD1--3 years old
DD2--almost 3 years old

PatMustardsBigTool · 03/05/2016 15:12

2.7 years still waiting

Pengweng · 03/05/2016 15:17

I class through the night as when I put them down at 8pm until sometime after 5.30am. So using that as a guide my DTs didn't sleep through the night until they were 2.5 years old. You would think one of them would have but nope I got two shitty sleepers at once Grin. Even now if they are ill then their sleep goes to pot and it takes a good few nights to get them sleeping again. They are nearly 4.

meggy22 · 03/05/2016 15:37

My son is 2 and a half I'm still waiting for him to sleep through GrinHmm

Icklepickle101 · 03/05/2016 15:43

Sleeping through for me is 7/8+ hours which my DS did from 8 weeks with a minor hiccup after jabs.

FWIW he also has a good few daytime naps!

Barmaid101 · 03/05/2016 15:47

11pm to 5:30am was 7 weeks for us, and by 4 months we had 9pm to 6am,
From 7months and still now at 20months we get 8pm to 8am sometimes later but my god this child loves her sleep. Still get 2 hour naps out of her

pottymummy · 03/05/2016 15:49

2.5 years. Sleeping through the night means from when they are finally put down until a reasonable time in the morning. i.e they are down for at least 10 hours.
It coincided with dropping the naps as well

Summerblaze100 · 03/05/2016 16:00

My DD was 8 weeks when she slept through (10pm-6.00am or 7.00am). She got up, had a feed then went back to sleep till lunch. Had a feed then went back to sleep till dinner. She was then awake, bit grizzly till 10pm then back to sleep again.

She never had a regression. She eventually spent less time asleep during the day and gradually her bedtime became earlier. And, just before she started she school, she was sleeping from 7am-7pm and still having a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.

She is 12 now and although she goes to bed later, it still only about 9.00 as she needs to get up early for school and any earlier and she's a nightmare. She has no SN.

My DS1 (who does have SN) was a fairly good sleeper (slept through at 4 months) but didn't sleep for as long during the day and gets up super super early now. He definitely needs less sleep than my other 2.

DS2 slept through at 13 months and had far less nap time during the day. He is also a good sleeper though and is a nightmare if he has too little.

Hoping DC4 (currently pg) is like my DD.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/05/2016 16:04

4 months, 7pm-6am. At 10 months sleeps 7pm-7am or a bit longer. Didn't do sleep training, just lucky.

I think through the night is basically any hours which don't involve you having to wake up to tend to the baby, anything else is a bonus.

YorkieDorkie · 03/05/2016 16:05

DD has just started sleeping from 8-10 then we wake her for nappy and last feed then sleeps until about 7. I'm not sure if she'd sleep all the way from 8-7 if we didn't wake her... She's 13 weeks and she's been doing this about a fortnight.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/05/2016 16:09

op my friends daughter was like your baby for sleeping. She's nearly 4 now and has no SN. She just needs a lot of sleep! Try not to worry Smile

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 03/05/2016 16:50

9 weeks 11.30 to 6-8

EponasWildDaughter · 03/05/2016 17:00

You're not an idiot OP! Flowers

I worried about DD4's amount of sleep because of her size. It was not physically possible to fit the amount of feeds in that we all wanted her to have with her sleeping 10 hours in 24! (7 hour night plus naps). Like i said i just used to make sure she had a feed at 10pm ish and would set the alarm for 4am (Shock) to wake her for a feed then. I'd offer loads of feeds during the day.

sepa · 03/05/2016 17:23

This is her awake times. I start my new day at midnight. So awake for 5hrs so far out of 17hrs. She will probably have another hour nap or so at about 6:30 then last feed at 8:30 then sleep at 9.
It seems a lot to be asleep.

She is currently playing on her mat farting away like a trooper

Belleende · 03/05/2016 17:30

Last night! Woo hoo! 7.30 pm to 6am. 10mos. Good job had an absolute shitter of a day in work. Would have been tears if there had been no sleep as well.

TowerRavenSeven · 03/05/2016 17:32

12 weeks, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

oldlaundbooth · 03/05/2016 17:42

DS was 5 months.

Usually a good 8 hour stretch.

' I start my new day at midnight' Sepa GrinHmm

Dilemmawithfil12 · 03/05/2016 17:44

DD slept through 7-7 from 4 weeks old, now at nearly 2 she's never woken in the night since except for once or twice when ill. She's not got any special needs (that I can tell) try not to worry

Absy · 03/05/2016 17:48

I thought the official definition was six hours? DS did that at 6 weeks and a couple of times since, but not consistently. I was so shocked when it happened - I thought something was wrong (I woke up after 4 hours, confused having slept that long), saw he was fine, thought "fuck it" and went back to sleep.

It's probably that your DD just needs / likes more sleep. I certainly used to - could sleep for 12 hours straight
