To wonder when your baby slept through the night

More for passing trade as you don't get much on the other boards.

Just wondering what age your DC(s) slept through the night and what hours you classed as through the night?

Sorry for the boring AIBU post

OP posts:
CuppaSarah · 03/05/2016 06:43

DD 6 weeks 7-7
DS 4 weeks 10-7

They slept through early but DDS went to shit as she got older, I expect DS to do the same. Children's sleep patterns change, sleeping through one week doesn't mean they will next week Grin cheeky buggers

HippyPottyMouth · 03/05/2016 06:43

DD started doing 12/1-6 at about 3 months and by 6 months was reliably doing 7-6. She never bothered much with sleep regressions beyond the odd squeak in the night.

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/05/2016 06:44

If he was hungry he'd wake up.

Shamalamalam · 03/05/2016 06:44

DD1 went from 9 - 7ish from about 6 weeks. Then she was unwell at about 9 months and it totally went to pot until she was 18 months.

DD2 - just before her 1st birthday

Groovee · 03/05/2016 06:47

Dd started at 9 weeks sleeping 9.30-5.30. Ds was 3 and a half and went from getting up every night to 13 hours!

RicStar · 03/05/2016 06:48

Hi OP as you are worried about too much sleepiness not too little both mine were like this. Slept in 6 hour chunks from birth ere much more sleepy than awake. Like you I was worried - it can as dr google says be due to medical problem (not sure about ASD link though) so good you are aware. But Dd always slept well still regularly sleeps 12hr+ she is 4. Ds 'woke up' at about 15 weeks and his sleep has been much worse since. He is now 2. Both are developing fine. So sleepiness can be ok. Try and enjoy it. Though I worried too... my mum thought I was mad to worry.

mumhum · 03/05/2016 06:48

OP, my DC2 slept 8hrs a night and had several naps of 2+ hrs at that age. Now at 13 months we have 12hrs at night and 2 naps of 2 hrs. I know the posts you mean re. autism etc. as I worried even though DC2 is my second. Just a very sleepy baby who is otherwise alert and active when awake! Try and relax during those long sleeps, bake and eat a cake, read a book (not about babies!) and don't spend hours googling about your gorgeous baby!

newmumwithquestions · 03/05/2016 06:49

Is it ok to get 8hrs out of a 8 week old?

It's fine. Both mine did 6 hours at 6 weeks, 8 hours at 8 weeks.
Can't get DC2 (now 5 months) to sleep any more than 8 hours though whatever I do (but yes I know I'm lucky to get that).

JayDot500 · 03/05/2016 06:52

DS is 3 months (14 weeks). He's only slept 'through the night once for 7 hours, at 11 weeks. How amazing that was!

Waiting for another!

Ivegotyourgoat · 03/05/2016 07:01

Ds1 6 months old 7-7, he'd usually reliably sleep through

Ds2 is 10 months and although he's slept through on occasionally he usually wakes 2-3am and comes in our bed

CoteDAzur · 03/05/2016 07:06

DD - 4 months
DS - 5 months

Both after we cut out night feeds. If you wait for them to sleep all night on their own, you might wait a very long time.

I define "sleeping through the night" as not waking up from the moment they fall asleep (7:30ish) to about 7 AM.

OpposableThumbs2 · 03/05/2016 07:06

I have an 8 week old who sleeps 8 hours. My first was sleeping 7-7 at 11 weeks. Assuming they are gaining weight and having some time being alert during the day then enjoy your decent night sleep. They are meant to sleep 16-20 hours at that age.

Natsku · 03/05/2016 07:14

I class sleeping through the night as not waking me up in the night!

DD didn't do it regularly until around 3 years old, she was a nightmare sleeper ever since 4 months old, before that she slept fairly decently and on one memorable occasion took a 6 hour nap!

Toddzoid · 03/05/2016 07:16

DC1 4 months
DC2 2 months
DC3 1 year

DC3 co slept right through the first year though so I didn't mind, it was a case of rolling over and popping the boob in then going back to sleep.

My brother didn't sleep through till he was five Shock.

EponasWildDaughter · 03/05/2016 07:20

If she is reaching her milestones and gaining weight then don't fret :)

My 4 would all sleep through (6/8 hours) at around 6/7 weeks and they're fine. DD.4 - i would wake for a feed after 5/6 hours until she was about 12 weeks, because she was on the small side.

HackerFucker22 · 03/05/2016 07:21

DC1 was sleeping 11-6 from about 10w

DC2 is 15mo and still not sleeping through. Not once and she isn't even close...

Idliketobeabutterfly · 03/05/2016 07:22

6 months But at four we still have odd days when he doesn't.
Although until he was three months we had to wake him every two hours for feeds, which sucked, as he was failure to thrive.

Ilovenannyplum · 03/05/2016 07:35

DS 16 months 7-7 Confused

it was a long 16 months

notagiraffe · 03/05/2016 07:37

DS1 - 6 weeks 5hours; 10 weeks 6 hours of unbroken sleep.
DS2 (ASD) 8 years - no kidding. Woke about five times a night and took a while to be settles each time until the adolescent hormones began to kick in age 8.

Custardcream33 · 03/05/2016 07:38

DC1 is 4 and has slept through twice, one of those occasions was last week.

DC2 is 14 months and wakes every hour or so, although once slept 7 hours in a row (before the 4 month regression).

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/05/2016 07:45

DS 13 mths

4 weeks did 11 - 5
6 weeks did 10 - 6
12 weeks was doing 9 - 9 and still does, he doesn't nap during the day though apart from in the car and hasn't since 4mths old

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 03/05/2016 07:45

DD woke every 1.5-3 hrs until she was 4 years old. Now at just over 4.5years she only wakes once a night. It is bliss! We are half heartedly ttc again Confused

ElinoristhenewEnid · 03/05/2016 07:49

DS 10 weeks
DD 7 weeks
9pm ish to 8 am ish with 2-3 naps of 1 hour+ during day

By 10 months they were both
sleeping 6pm to 8/9 am ish with 1 nap during day

DS never woke at night from 10 weeks until 15 months when he did once _ bit of a shock

DD woke once a night for a couple of nights every 2 months or so.

By age 2+ they were awake by 7 am. I kept the 6 pm bedtime until they were at infant school

I was very fortunate don't know why - 30 years ago now. Sleep regression had not been invented!

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 03/05/2016 07:52

Oh and she gave up naps completely at 19 months

echt · 03/05/2016 08:06

DD, about 3 months. She's always liked shuteye. Early to bed and early to rise: out cold between 6 and 7, and awake at about 6.30-7.00.

No problem for me as I was ( and am) an early riser myself.
