Disgusting surprises in food

So after they had deleted a great thread just when it was gaining momentum I sulked a bit.
But why not think about stuff we've eaten and which was hiding some unexpected surprises, would it BU?
I once bit into what I thought was a nice piece of fish while in fact it was a chunk of carp fat. I still smell and taste it. Put me off fish for years.
Bit into a ripe pear as a child. A very pissed off fat worm crawled out. I was half expecting him to start giving out to me.
I can only eat pears halved now and checked for traces of alien protein.

My frugal grandma once served me homemade ham and lentil soup with lumps of soggy bread floating around in it. When I asked her what it was she said it 'must have been from grandad's leftovers'...she'd poured them back in the pan.

Oh no, what was on my pizza then?! The letter I had was very apologetic about the unexpected and unacceptable animal matter I survived and got a decent gift card out of it anyways

I feel so sick Envy
But still love this thread Hmm

BigChocFrenzy · 03/05/2016 22:53

Yes, I've found several offerings of homegrown berries, plums, apricots etc which contain wigglers
Even more Envy for vegans, I suppose.

Organic is grossly over-rated.
Give me some proper chemicals to kill everything which doesn't belong.
Bugger nature !

DH has quite a sweet tooth and he once had a craze of adding Nesquick chocolate granules to his breakfast cereal before adding the milk. One morning, he discovered (after taking his first mouthful) that he had absent mindedly sprinkled on instant gravy granules instead!

Fish and chips, and the fish was some sort of bad muddy tasting river fish full of massive bones :-(

I'd eaten half a bacon sandwich in a cafe after a mountain bike ride. Went to tuck into the second half and noticed the edge of the bread was all mouldy

I think you were ok and didn't eat any mound - it tastes so bad that you should be able to detect a tiny tiny amount even through tasty bacon.

WingMirrorSpider , (high school dinner lady here) , I take great pleasure in reporting that frogspawn tapioca no longer makes an appearance on our menu thank gawd, nasty vile spiteful stuff!

HibernoCaledonian , our local Indian Buffet place have the banana fritters & galub jamon situated at the end of the starters hotplate. I'm sure many many people just pile up their plates and find themselves tucking into a chilli sauce covered banana pakora Grin

PenguinsAreAce · 06/05/2016 19:07

I once had a sticky toffee pudding that had RAISINS in it.

GeezAJammyPeece · 06/05/2016 19:56

Raisins?? IN Sticky Toffee Pudding??? Confused What kind of sacrilege is this!?!? Shock

PenguinsAreAce · 06/05/2016 20:04

I. Know.

GeezAJammyPeece · 06/05/2016 21:09

I picked up.tinned tuna in sunflower oil instead of brine or spring water by accident last week my fault I accept but why the fuck does anybody eat tinned tuna in sunflower oil? Confused

GeezAJammyPeece · 06/05/2016 22:15

x2boys , I completely agree.

It seems weird to me take an already oily item and think, "hey! Ya know what? Im gonna store this in oil..."
However I have no probs with anchovies in oil although am fully aware that many would flame me for the liking anchovies at all bit
