AIBU. My oh sister wants to bring her boyfriend to stay, none of us have met him he's from America they met on Xbox. I have two dc and would never encourage them to talk to people online. Oh sister has only met him once nearly 12 mths ago, he stayed with her and in-laws and wasn't able to share a room. I have little room and they would have to share. Oh thinks it's fine but he may not actually be here and I feel uncomfortable about it all.

YANBU I wouldn't have a stranger, which is what he is, stay under the same roof as my child. Not a chance. Tell them to get a hotel.

middleclass err it's her SIL not her children, makes no sense then.

Sea, this comment

"You don't encourage your DC to talk to people online?

What do you call being on MN talking to people online on a Sunday? confused"

Is your comment. You are the one not making sense. You are the one not talking about SIL. I full understand OPs prob. I was just pointing out that in your comment you say she doesn't encourage her kids talking to people online and link it to her activity on MN. It's really not related.

No way would I let a stranger stay in my house, regardless of DC or not. It is completely inappropriate. They can stay in a hotel. Your SIL is really feckin cheeky to ask!

Just tell them to stay in a hotel. Aside from anything else you nor your dcs want to be kept awake by them doing the four-legged foxtrot all night!
