My baby is 6 months posted about half a million times about my worried on here so won't go into huge detail again but basically she gets lots of marks on her legs (and some on arms) little non blanching spots and larger areas (although still small) that look like bruises.

I have taken her to see three gps who tell me to ignore it and she must mark easily but she is my 6th child and I am convinced that is not the case there must be something causing it.

However, I also have PND and am on medication for it, feeling a lot better but it's obviously relevant background !

She has more of the little spots today one side of her leg has little bruises. I'm ignoring it even though I think it's a problem somehow .

Aibu to do this because there is nothing else I can do?

I would ask for a second opinion from a GP.

Or pay to see a paediatrician privately.

ithinkitstimeforanamechange · 29/04/2016 19:49

I won't be able to do anything tonight anyway . Dh is working late so I am alone with all the children.

I doubt we could easily afford to pay privately for this. Maybe on a credit card but that's it ideal for us!

I don't really know anymore if it is actually me!. I keep trying to say to dh that o would like him to decide what needs doing but he just shrugs his shoulders!

Children's A&E nurse here. As your gp is being so useless, I would have no problem with you coming to A&E to get this checked. The rash could be a few different things but bloods need to be done to exclude a clotting problem. A&E can do the bloods and refer you to the paediatricians.
So long as your baby is otherwise well and thriving it is unlikely to be anything too serious but it does need to be checked and your GP is wrong to fob you off. You are an experienced Mum and you know your child.

ithinkitstimeforanamechange · 29/04/2016 20:13

Thanks heartknot. We have already been to the children's a and e twice (not about this- for chest infections) and they were lovely I just feel like they are going to say ffs woman forget it!!Grin

I am just watching a new little patch of bruise type spots coming up on her leg.
I know it sounds silly but I am actually afraid it looks like I have harmed her in some way I have actually padded out the side of her pram in case she was bumping her legs on itBlush

I am taking a little picture diary of the newest area in case I decide to take her anywhere in the next few days not sure if that will help or not as my
Phone camera is shockingly bad especially in lower light! And you can barely see it!

No expert, but I thought I would ask if you are 100% sure it is not an allergy to something her skin is coming in contact with?

ithinkitstimeforanamechange · 29/04/2016 20:18

Should add it's the but that is blotchy at the bottom that's how the patches start then they sort of go to lighter large areas and little tiny dots.

I'm fairly sure it's not an actual skin problem as it is totally under her skin, her skin itself if totally smooth not dry etc

Ithinkitstime please don't worry about what they will think in the A&E. Any paeds nurse/Dr will know that you are not wasting their time. This sort of rash always needs to be checked out.

Dh has schambergs disease. It's where the blood vessels leak and not seen as dangerous, no know cure but it can come and go. See Wikipedia for photos as the lesions can be red and turn brownish and look like bruising. Don't know if this would match.

ithinkitstimeforanamechange · 29/04/2016 21:07

Ok dh clearly thinks I'm crazy so I might actually be. He says she must have banged her leg and it's fine. I am just going to see what it's like in the morning if the bruisy parts are worse I will take her to a and E even if my dh does think I'm insane.

The marks are clearer on the backs of both legs now so I don't see how she can have injured them when I have been sitting her watching her lying safely on my bed not you know beating all hell out of her lower legs...

OP, it doesn't look like bruising from banging her legs to me.

I wouldn't be too alarmed if, as Heartknot says, she is happy and thriving, but it doesn't look or sound normal, or all in your head, to me and I would continue to press for a second opinion / paed referral.

Whatever it is, it would be best to know.

Janecc · 30/04/2016 06:09

Did you look up Schambergs?

differentnameforthis · 30/04/2016 07:01

The most important thing is here, is that YOU instinctively feel that this is not right.

Good advice from heartknot, could be time for a second opinion. And if the dr fobs you off, be strong.

DeadGood · 30/04/2016 07:43

Can't believe your partner and GP are bother being so dismissive. Stay strong, push for answers and if your GP mentions the ADs again, tell him/her that it's not relevant and that you need a referral. Don't leave til you get one. Good luck

Dontcallus · 30/04/2016 09:05

Just a thought but when I get hives (have various allergies), when they go down I am left with marks just like these. Did you say they are bumpy first? May not be relevant but wanted to share my thoughts.
Trust your instincts, I had Pnd with DS1 and I knew he was not right, was fobbed off, made to feel like an anxious mother, was diagnosed with asthma at 9mths, I knew it wasn't my imagination.
Good luck
