I've been reading ds Gangsta Granny and granny has just died, the little boy is talking to Grannies cousin who tells him how he was the light of his grans life, and Friday nights when he stayed were the highlight of her week. Then he cycles to his grannies in the snow for 'one last time' her post is all piled up and a for sale sign outside.

I'm there blubbing and ds is just looking at me like I'm a complete weirdo.

I haven't been so upset since Charlottes web.

I'm a complete wimp aren't I?

The film The Iron Giant. God it makes me sob. When he shouts "sooooperman!" As he goes up into space

NannawifeofBaldr · 28/04/2016 18:09

I need several boxes of tissues for the opening scenes of "Up", even then I have to leave the room. I'm sure I didn't used to be this soppy!

RonniePickering · 28/04/2016 18:11

I watched Up the other week and blubbed like a baby.

PixieChops · 28/04/2016 18:19

Films I cry over are:
Dumbo
Up
The Rescuers

Think I cried at PS I Love You but I find it hard to cry at books. I'm usually pulling this face ShockShock rather than crying.
Dobby dying in Harry Potter the film though- yep I cried like a baby.

Just wondering why people think "Guess how much I love you" is sad? I think it's really sweet and love reading it with my daughter.

SnakeWitch · 28/04/2016 18:21

I found a book called My Henry in the library yesterday. It's a Judith Kerr one about an old lady whose husband has died but he comes to her every afternoon with his angel wings (while she's asleep) and they have adventures and think about how nice their life was. I was in bits! Saddest children's book ever, it was a real tearjerker.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/04/2016 18:28

Oh goodness, I cry at so many books!
Once there were Giants (read while pg, suddenly realised this was life ahead for my unborn baby- a real human!).
Goblet of Fire (Cedric!)
Goodbye Mog
No matter what (parent would love his child even when he's dead)
I may have something irritating my eyes, just typing this. Blush

ShatterResistant · 28/04/2016 19:46

"now, there are giants in our house again... And one of the giants is me." Gets me every time. Children completely oblivious.

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2016 20:35

Oh yes, The Paper Dolls.

When I was about 6 or 7 months pg with DD I cried my eyes out at There's Going to be a Baby in the library with DS, then 2.5. The young man librarian was very alarmed.

OhMrBadger · 28/04/2016 20:50

Stay clear of The House At Pooh Corner! I'm reading it to DS2 and I was a wreck when I read it to Ds1. Can't believe I'm doing it to myself again!

StubbleTurnips · 28/04/2016 21:01

new I'm glad you said stickman, I can't read the end where" the children are sad, it won't feel like Christmas without their stickdad"

StubbleTurnips · 28/04/2016 21:03

currently pregnant so everything is setting me off - Brave had me crying in the hallway on Sunday.

Earlgreywithmilk · 28/04/2016 21:20

I am not liking these mentions of goodbye mog. As in Meg and mog? As in mog dies? That's well out of order.

Earlgreywithmilk · 28/04/2016 21:27

I'm not happy about this goodbye mog business. Do u mean as in Meg and mog? As in, mog dies?
That's well out of order.

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2016 21:44

EarlGrey Not the same Mog.

Earlgreywithmilk · 28/04/2016 21:50

Phew

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/04/2016 21:57

I wondered about that. If they killed off Mog or Owl I would be devastated.

bookworm14 · 28/04/2016 22:02

I cried this evening reading Owl Babies to eight-month-old DD. Don't think she noticed!

DailyFaily · 28/04/2016 22:11

I could barely speak through Gangsta Granny for sobbing, my DS (6) was unmoved. I also lost it a bit when I read I'll love you forever - "as long as I'm living, my mother you'll be" (though the bit about the mother creeping into her adult son's apartment to watch him sleep was, frankly, odd)

YellowBucket · 28/04/2016 22:27

I've never read Gangsta Granny but even thinking about Goodbye Mog makes me want to cry.

AriaTloak · 28/04/2016 22:37

I'm super confused about Guess How Much I Love You?!

It's just 2 bunnies Blush

StylishDuck · 28/04/2016 22:37

I'm just about crying reading this thread Grin

No Matter What, Guess How Much I Love You and I Love You Mummy all turn me into a blubbering wreck.

I once caught DH welling up at I Love You Daddy too Wink

StylishDuck · 28/04/2016 22:39

Aria it's the last bit. "I love you all the way to the moon...and back!"

AriaTloak · 28/04/2016 22:40

I think I might be made of stone!

Saying that, The Lion King book had me bubbling!

jalopyjane · 28/04/2016 22:46

Paper dolls - yes, me too!

And struggled to read Charlotte's Web aloud to DD (age 6 or 7 at the time) without my voice cracking with emotion.

Also weirdly The Sheep Pig. The little pig is just so courageous Blush

Fevertree · 28/04/2016 22:47

Paper dolls, stick man (especially the TV version) and the owl one... I want my mummy!! Waaaaa
