To think the Daily Mail are taking the piss?

As you may infer from my NN I am not a fan. However I saw this on today's Mail online:

DM Link

For those who don't want to click it, the DM have mined the recent thread from a poster who lost her DS at a young age, and was asking if she WBU to still buy clothes for him and join clubs. I remember the thread as it was really moving and so clear that the poster was struggling with her grief.

The Mail has lifted the story - and the child's name - lock, stock and barrel. I'd be interested in MNHQ's view on this. I realise that posts are in the public domain but this feels so horribly invasive.

OP posts:

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet thank you for the response! I am relieved in a way but also concerned about how the DM have done it, and if they will do it again.

Can I ask if you're able to do anything about this at the DM? Has the OP been warned?

SaucyJack · 26/04/2016 17:22

I have scraped matter off of my buggy wheels that had more integrity than Martha Cliff.

And probably more journalistic talent too.

BastardGoDarkly · 26/04/2016 17:23

Oh my god!

I remember the thread so well, heartbreaking.

Where the fuck do these useless, bone idle wankers get off??!

All right im throwing a wildcard out there, the original op of whom the thread was wrote about only had 2 posts, whos to say that the op that wrote the post could have been a jounalist that actually posted the story if that makes sense and no 2) the op could have given permission for them to take the post.

OreosAreTasty · 26/04/2016 17:40

Have also tweeted the idiot who wrote the article (sorry, but I can't call that specimen a journalist). I really hope they pull the article

Let us know if you get a response Oreos. Curious to see what happens.

This is the lowest low. Taking advantage of a grieving mother who was simply seeking comfort and support on a parenting forum is truly disgusting.

Absolute bastards. I posted on that thread and I feel violated. What must the OP be feeling.

Cunts

twirlypoo · 26/04/2016 17:59

MrsD I have just favourited and retweeted you - I searched for #dailymail to find it. Is there a better way for me to harass them via Twitter? I am a bit clueless over there so not sure how best I can help. Incidentally, I am struck again from your Twitter just how beautiful Billy was Thanks

Pipbin · 26/04/2016 18:08

I see what you mean Shazza. A cunt journalist could post something like that to harvest the replies.

MNHQ, have you contacted the OP?

It never fails to amaze me how no-one ever reads the DMO but everyone knows what's posted on there instantaneously.

Palomb · 26/04/2016 18:19

I had a long running post with my extremely premature son and was contacted by several journalists on here and also Facebook. They were all very polite and when I said no then honoured it.

Maybe this poster was happy for her story to be published?

AStreetcarNamedBob · 26/04/2016 18:23

Place marking to read MNHQs comment as hopefully it's coming soon.

limitedperiodonly · 26/04/2016 18:27

What do people expect MNHQ to do about this?

FelicityR313 · 26/04/2016 18:30

For a start I'd like them to clarify whether the DM has a blanket use of all content, whether the OP is now aware, whether they are going to seek legal advice, whether we can all assume that we are not just posting on MN, but we are also posting on the Daily fucking Mail!

FelicityR313 · 26/04/2016 18:33

I'm sick of this outdated notion that once it's out there, it's out there.
Legislation needs to catch up.
If I post on FB that I think David Cameron is an idiot, it's because I want it on my page, on FB. I do not want 'Felicity thinks David Cameron is an idiot' as a headline in any other publication.
The law needs to catch up with that.

Palomb · 26/04/2016 18:35

Yes but this is not your page is it. You post on here anyone in the whole world can read it, publish it, copy it etc etc.
