That Person who you irrationally dislike be they a celeb, someone you know, or a family member, the criteria being they are harmless and have done nothing to warrant your dislike of them except their very personality?

And you know that the fact you don't like them is really unreasonable but they make you absolutely seethe?

Or AIBU?

This will be quite cathartic admitting this on a public forum (albeit with a namechange, I'm not that brave) - but I cannot stand one of my closest group of friends - everything she does irritates me, but everyone else seems to think the sun shines out of her arse, so I have to grit my teeth and bear it.

I don't think I'm being particularly irrational about my hatred of her, but I must be if all my other friends don't seem to get enraged by her. I think, to be honest, we are just completely opposite types who now have to go through this slight farce of a 'close' friendship. Bah.

I regularly moan about her to DH - who, to be fair, can't stand her either.

RudeElf · 24/04/2016 12:46

Oh yes to chris moyles! AND james corden. They might as well be the same person as far as i am concerned.

Elle80 · 24/04/2016 12:46

JessTItchener I love it when my husband takes agin someone - his irrationality and hatred knows no bounds

Boolovessulley · 24/04/2016 12:49

Yes to Bono. As soon as I hear his smug sanctimonious voice I make a mental note NOT to support the ' good cause ' he is endorsing. He is wealthy enough to pay my contribution. And can fuck off telling me how to spend my limited cash.

Same with any charity record- no I won't buy it. You wealthy celebs can use your money to support the cause.

There's a woman at work who I can't stand. Everyone else seems to like her but I don't trust her. She us good at her job but she makes my flesh crawl.

Sandbrook · 24/04/2016 13:00

A friend of a friend who has tried really hard to get close to me. I keep swatting her away like a fly.
She is so needy and apathetic. She's easy going to the point of boring as she never has an opinion on ANYTHING, not food choice, drink choice, weather, politics, clothes, sleb world.... ANYTHING.
She just wants to listen. Never adds anything. Makes me itchy

MattDillonsPants · 24/04/2016 13:07

Ooh someone mentioned Claire Sweeney! I can't bear her face! She looks smug and a bit grubby.

bornwithaplasticspoon · 24/04/2016 13:10

I'm agreeing with most if these but can't believe no one has mentioned Kylie Minogue yet. I think it started out as jealousy (Jason Donovan. Bitch) but now I can't look at the antipodean midget smurf's smug tight face without wanting to tell her to fucky fucky fucky off.

Andrewofgg · 24/04/2016 13:11

What is going on?

Nearly twelve hours in and nobody has mentioned Davina McCall!

Or is it too obvious to need saying that she should disappear up herself?

Justmeagain78 · 24/04/2016 13:11

Stacey Solomon - really detest her "oooo I'm such a cute and ditsy but really oh so smart little girly, me!" act. It has men fawning all over her but it's so fake!!

cbigs · 24/04/2016 13:12

Michael fucking flatly Angry

Devilishpyjamas · 24/04/2016 13:14

I user to loathe Chris Moyles. Had to turn him off if he came on anything. It was completely irrational. Then ds2 met him at a party (ds2 was 12) & by all accounts Chris Moyles was LOVELY to him. Took the time to talk to him & posed for selfies etc with him & the other boy there. He really didn't have to - it was an adult party - only two 12 year olds there.

So now I like him & can watch him & have found he doesn't irritate me anymore.

spirallinganxiety · 24/04/2016 13:15

&I suspect I may BE that person for some. Can sometimes really upset me as I don't know what I'm doing wrong.*

^ this

I think I am this person as far as my SIL is concerned. SIL can be vile and I am left trying to think how I may have offended her. I now hate SIL right back but wit goof reason.

spirallinganxiety · 24/04/2016 13:16

Was supposed to be in bold:
I suspect I may BE that person for some. Can sometimes really upset me as I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

spirallinganxiety · 24/04/2016 13:16

WeAllHaveWings · 24/04/2016 13:25

I cant watch or listen to keith lemon, tony robinson from time team, or the guy from river cottage. I have to turn over, or leave the room if dh wants to watch.

Also never liked Harry Enfield, his Wayne and Waynetta sketches always made me squirm.

Friendlystories · 24/04/2016 13:36

Russell Brand, his face, his voice, everything. Pretentious prick Angry

Cherrycrystal · 24/04/2016 13:37

A woman at work, can't stand the girl, there is no reason not to like her. Plenty of people really like her and we're very similar Blush but since day one, Ive had an aversion to her. If we were in the same room I used want to leave, if someone who knows her talked about her I used to get an urge to slap them across the face.
Then she showed her true colours and I realised I need to trust my instincts, she's still well liked by most of the workplace though, no accounting for taste.

NNalreadyinuse · 24/04/2016 13:39

For me it's Kate Winslet. I think it is because of her 'I'm so normal' fake persona. Also because she married a man with a stupid, made up name!

There is a performance parenting dad who also sets my teeth on edge. Was oddly gratified to hear the mum yelling at the kids once because I think she was late for work and they were being uncooperative. Remember thinking 'thank fuck one of their parents is normal'. Then felt bad because the kids were getting told off for doing typical kid stuff.

AmberNectarine · 24/04/2016 13:42

Oh, oh, oh... Rachel Riley!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 24/04/2016 13:45

Steve Coogan. Can't stand him.

Stratter5 · 24/04/2016 13:48

Pag, I had a friend like that too, I thought we were really good friends, we saw a lot of each other, and our families socialised together. But I was crossing a road once, and looked back, and she had this look of pure hatred on her face. After that I started noticing it more and more, and then everything kind of exploded :(

JimmyGreavesMoustache · 24/04/2016 14:00

Tess Daly, specifically because she says the word "couple" in a super-weird way
It's not an accent thing - I live in the part of the world she comes from, and have never heard anyone mangle "couple" like she does.

Adarajames · 24/04/2016 14:00

Jeremy vine!! Spouts inane pointless crap as supposed entertainment! And a woman in the lottery group, so fecking load it actually hurts, and she's not saying anything the least bit intelligent or interesting!

Devilishpyjamas · 24/04/2016 14:03

Oh god yes to Jeremy Vine. The first person to ever become a father :itchy teeth:
