To wonder why some celebs (not mentioning any names --Natasha Hamilton-- seem to swap partners more often than I swap handbags?

LaConnerie · 19/04/2016 10:29

And I love my handbags.

Why is it though? Somebody like Natasha Hamilton appears to have a good life and her head screwed on. She's had a reasonably successful career, must have money of her own, is still young, pretty and in good shape. But apparently she has split with Richie Neville - who she decided to have a baby with after knowing him for nano-seconds.

Yes it's NOMB - but she kind of makes it my/our business by giving interviews every five seconds about the latest development - and in bored moments I can't help wondering how and why anybody can live in a real life soap opera 24 hours a day.

Hmm
EverySongbirdSays · 19/04/2016 16:22

I think it's more common in Hollywoodland etc because they are always meeting fabulous good looking talent folk having to kiss them and pretend they love them simulate sex etc. It would be hard not to develop feelings.

See Jolie and Pitt, Garner and Affleck, Witherspoon and Philippe, and so on and thee's probably loads of on set affairs that have never been outed.

Fabellini · 19/04/2016 16:25

I thought that they got together in 2013, but that they'd known each other for a while before that? So not decades together or anything, but not exactly 5 minutes either. I also thought that the split wasn't her decision, so it seems a bit mean to be implying that she's skipping from one relationship to the next.
Afaik she's still single at the moment, isn't she?

GraysAnalogy · 19/04/2016 16:28

If I had my pick of men I think I'd be trying them all out to tbf

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2016 16:49

Grin Grays

Some people never find one man they want to have a baby with let alone four.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/04/2016 19:21

'everysongbird' Most people in any profession meet their partners at work though. There are tons of acting couples who met on film sets. I do agree about the affairs thing though. I think it might be the adulation that comes from being in Hollyweird. It's hard to say no if you are surrounded by yes men and people throwing themselves at you. Didn't Affleck and Phillipe have affairs with the nanny? Mummy off on a film set, daddy and nanny in charge of the kids, what's a man to do? Grin

EverySongbirdSays · 19/04/2016 19:26

Yep guineapig they did !!! - yes a lot of people do meet people at work but most jobs don't often involve making out with relatively new colleagues Grin

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/04/2016 20:05

True although I did meet my DH at work and we did make out almost straight away (teachers, so not a lot of men around)Blush

TinklyLittleLaugh · 19/04/2016 20:16

Hmm, at least the women are around to raise the children. Men like Paul Weller, Jude Law, Liam Gallagher are worse. I judge them far more.

By the by, do these z listers really get £25k for a spread in Hello? Seems a tad excessive. I always presumed they did it cheap/free to keep their profile up.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/04/2016 21:11

Quite. I wonder how much quality time Rod Stewart's older kids got every time he replaced his identikit girlfriends and popped out a few more kids? The difference with women doing it is that the kids live with their mother, some maybe with better father's than others and have to deal with multiple relationship break ups in the household. The dad's have just buggered off and started again.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 19/04/2016 21:18

I'm another one who genuinely has no idea who Natasha Hamilton is.

Will confess to being shocked/disappointed by Rebecca Adlington and Harry Needs. Why did they get married and have a child so young? Couldn't they have lived together for a few years? They both seem priviliged well educated people.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/04/2016 21:23

I read ages ago that sometimes the 'at home' spreads are done in rented properties belonging to other people if the celebs real house is judged not celebby enough Grin

The Daily Mail are just LOVING chockful of sympathy for Rebecca Adlington, I see

TiggyD · 19/04/2016 22:10

Much of the time it's because they're gay and the arrangement they made with the other person had to end because they fell in love, became famous themselves, or didn't want their daughter involved with Scientology. For example.

EdithWeston · 19/04/2016 22:20

"This is the reason why people who got famous a bit later in life - Dido, Helen Mirren - are much more normal"

I feel really old now. Does no-one else remember Helen Mirren and all the publicity from how frequently she got her kit off in films in the 1960s from the age of about 21?

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/04/2016 22:28

With Rebecca Arlington, I think competitive swimming is so all encompassing that you can't really have much of a chance to grow up normally. Then when your career ends at barely 25 you have to do something else. She got married and had a baby, then realised it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2016 22:55

yes natasha and urika are 4x4 -was a lot of car jokes about years ago

kerry K and jordon are 5 x 3

sure in the future both will have a 6th baby with a 4th man ..............

EverySongbirdSays · 19/04/2016 23:38

This will get deleted if I'm explicit but I'm sure I read an article about Helen Mirren having INNNNNTERRRESSSSTTING tastes in the bedroom.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 20/04/2016 00:03

I really can't see what business it is of anyone else's who she chooses to marry, date or have a child with- especially as people have no idea why her previous relationships ended.

Cloudstasteofmash · 20/04/2016 00:12

I hate the excuse "she makes it my buisness being the public eye"

GiddyOnZackHunt · 20/04/2016 00:20

People buy the magazines
The magazines can afford to pay people for their life events.
People buy the magazines.

The public chose to hand over their salary to perpetuate this nonsense. If enough people ignore it, it will go away. If they have no audience then they have no income. In any decent world, nobody would be funding Kerry Katona's car crash of a life. Would her life be any better or worse without sleb mags?
*I have no idea what's going on with KK since that Croft bloke when I was in hospital and bored!

NickiFury · 20/04/2016 00:22

I can't stand the po faced judgement on this site regarding women with different fathers for their kids.

So what? They're supporting them, they can have as many kids with as many men as they like and you're not better than them. Most of you probably couldn't pull multiple hot men if you tried. Good luck to them I say.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 20/04/2016 09:09

Lol at "hot men". I certainly hope my dd has higher ambitions in life than pulling multiple hot men.

NickiFury · 20/04/2016 09:13

Don't twist my words. No one said anything about that being the ultimate ambition.

BillSykesDog · 20/04/2016 09:21

This thread is going to be deleted, because MN does not allow criticism of female celebrities with children.

I'm afraid I do judge, particularly when they sell an image of their family life. I don't think judging is always a bad thing, it's societies way of stopping people from doing shitty things which harm other people. And it must be harming these children to have a constant stream of men in and out and of their lives supposedly for forever who they get attached to then they disappear. That sort of things can cause real psychological problems and abandonment issues. And they must know, it's a very selfish impulse to keep making the same mistakes over and over again even though you know the trauma it causes.

It's not just women either. Darren Day ruined an extremely promising career by treating women like shit, using relationships for publicity, cheating and dumping women holding the baby. Although in fairness he seems to have sorted his life out. And karma got him. He lives in Barnsley. Grin

NickiFury · 20/04/2016 09:24

Personally I think far less of people smug MNetters who sneer and judge based on a few magazine layouts (that they claim not to have even read Hmm) than I am of women who have a few children by different fathers and support and provide for them.
