AIBU to still have the heating on?

I mean not all the time. Just an hour in the morning and at night to take the chill off the air. I actually think the planet is being VVU for being cold. But am I just being a wimp? Does anyone else still have their heating on??

I have mine on the thermostat while we are in the house so usually 6pm-730am , if it's cold in this time it comes on

Yes. My underfloor heating is on low and the main heating in 6-10 in the evening.
I switched the underfloor heating off in March last year, till October.

It's three degrees here right now! Of course the heating is on and it'll be on in the evening when it dips down to 6 degrees too. You're not a wimp, it's bloody cold.

I keep turning it off then we all freeze so I have to turn it back on again.

We do, and we're hardy Yorkshire Folk. Although this winter j have felt significantly less hardy.

Mine is still on thermostat. The car roof had ice on it yesterday morning so it is still freezing outside.

It snowed on Saturday here and we are really not the north! So YANBU from me, ours is on too!

Heating off in April - are you mad! It is freezing still. Surely heating goes off when the weather improves and it gets warmer, not based on it being a specific month? Obviously all the ‘heating is off April to October' bunch live in the south and not in the wilds of Scotland! We are still on full heating, boots, socks and winter coats here.

Yes we have it on for an hour twice a day, it's freezing.. I've paid my big gas bill for winter and hadn't planned on another!

Mine is never switched off.
It doesn't come on all the time but it's always able to of the temperature drops.
I like a warm house though, underfloor in the kitchen is so cosy in a large room, it never feels hot.
My SIL turns hers off in March and doesn't turn it on again until November. I decline most invites round there as its fucking freezing - why have such an arbitrary rule - it's quite often milder in December than it is in March

But keep the heating on as long as you need it. It's not a calendar thing.

Ordinarily I would say yes, but I have a baby who thinks 22 degrees is the perfect temperature so we still have it on

I don't get all this "heating off" business - surely you have a thermostat???

Our heating is programmed to come on at 6.30am until 9am and then again from 4pm to 9pm. If the temperature in the house is lower than 20C, the heating will fire between these times. Doesn't matter if it's July or January. We never switch it "off". Ever. If it's warm, it just doesn't fire up.

Thermostat and timer here. 6-8 am 4-8 pm it's cold out.

While i'm getting up to frost i have no qualms about putting some heating on.

It's a big house and we have no central heating. The house suffers from mould and damp if it's not kept warm and aired. Once the air feels warm enough in the main rooms the heaters goes off.

No I don't have a thermostat. I have a boiler with a timer?! So it's either on or not. I can set it to come on at certain times. I live in the south so I feel I may be being a bit wimpy!!! I can remember my DM saying to me to just out another jumper on!!! Also generally I am at work all day so heating is literally on for an hour am and an hour pm. I cannot bloody wait for the summer and warmth to seep into my home !!

Ours is on constantly. I like to keep the house between 20-25 so I can wear lightweight clothes. Why would you want to be bundled up in jumpers and socks indoors?
Also I have to get up for night feeds so it's nice not to be shivering at 3am!

Get thermostats. They will save you money on your fuel bills.

We never have our heating on overnight, the thermostat drops to 10C overnight and it never gets that cold inside the house. We're in Scotland and it does get cold but surely you just put a thicker duvet on?

We have it on for a couple of hours morning and evening, but on a thermostat so it doesn't come on if the house is already warm enough. It's freezing to say it's April!

Yes I still have the heating on for an hour in the morning, dp thinks it's warm enough though (the mad northern bastard) so I have to wait until he's left for work or he turns it off complaining it's too hot!
