I am visiting somewhere that has a large ikea.
I've read several threads but wondered what should I buy?
I need storage and some basic dishes etc.
Also if anyone could recommend anything from ikea what would it be?

I hear the meatballs are good.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/04/2016 20:15

Don't worry. You will do what I do and buy, literally, everything. Tis the IKEA way.

Toomanycats99 · 13/04/2016 20:15

We have one kallax unit which is the cubes. You can get all sorts of boxes / drawers to put in them. We are getting another couple of units soon as well. I bought cutlery from there. Wasn't an expensive set but felt really nice heavy quality. I have avert long ikea wish list for she our building work is finished!

gBean · 13/04/2016 20:16

Octopus peg thing. I love mine. Glasses.

Fishface77 · 13/04/2016 20:17

i was given a Kallax unit and that's the original reason i wanted to go. So I could buy some boxes but I've been on the websites and there so much -shit- stuff I want!!

All the food bags.

bornwithaplasticspoon · 13/04/2016 20:17

Depends what you need to store. I love their flat pack wicker cube boxes (don't know the proper name sorry) and the drawer organisers. If you have little ones the sets of rainbow plastic plates/bowls/cups are good quality. They also do some nice wooden toys. Tea towels are good quality as are bathroom towels and bath mats. We always pick up biscuits and chocolate on the way out!

Food bags, pads to go under your chair feet on hard floors, bag clips, crockery (365), glassware, phaleanopsis (sp?) orchid...

PennyHasNoSurname · 13/04/2016 20:19

Yy to Octopus hanger.

If you have a spare £50, the duck egg blue kitchen trolley.

Sandwich bags

The wine glasses.

Napkins (they do nice long thin folded ones).

The kids soft toys are great and usually have a book with two or three soft toy co ordinating characters which make great gifts.

PennyHasNoSurname · 13/04/2016 20:19

Oh yes the 360 knives are brilliant.

Hullygully · 13/04/2016 20:20

Tealights
Napkins
Those lovely biscuits with choc in

QueenOfTheHighCs · 13/04/2016 20:21

I came on to say the food bags too

bornwithaplasticspoon · 13/04/2016 20:21

Shopping trolley. I bloody love mine.

Trills · 13/04/2016 20:21

They are v good for all the its like draining racks and cutlery dividers and thigns to put utensils in.

And a million tealights of course.

And some decent coathangers, rather than ones taken from shops.

TheEmperorNotTheSalad · 13/04/2016 20:22

Daim bar cake.

Do not leave without several one.

Charlieandlola · 13/04/2016 20:23

Even if you don't want them you'll end up buying at least one bag of 100 tea lights as you'll walk past and go "oooh that's cheap they could come in handy "

MrsUnderwood · 13/04/2016 20:25

EVERYTHING!!!

Voteforpedr0 · 13/04/2016 20:27

The multicoloured childrens bowl/cups (cost pennies last forever)
Meatball sauce (dry mix packet)
Drawing paper (on a huge roll)
Houseplant and pot

Fishface77 · 13/04/2016 20:27

If you go in the cafe my top money saving tip is to buy a pack of the biscuits that are like jammie dodgers. They're only about 80p, much cheaper than cake. Have one or two the whole pack with your tea/coffee Smile

Fishface77 · 13/04/2016 20:33

This one. Can't find it online though!

Chocolate.

AuntDotsie · 13/04/2016 20:35

YY to kiddie plates etc. Kiddie textiles also very good. They have some nice washi tape and magnetic boards if you're into that sort of thing. LED candles also fun.

Don't buy the plants though. My last lot were infested with mealyworms and wiped out all my other succulents, the bastards.
