We live in the middle of nowhere. He says he's going to blow off some steam and disappears. He's 17 ... Is this normal? He doesn't smell of smoke, he's not meeting anyone, he seems quite himself when he comes back ... Thoughts?

My dd is 17 and does this too. Other than I don't like her out in the dark, I leave her to it really. I also crave my own company often so I understand why.

Dd can get quite low moods and she finds a blow of fresh air and some space helps a lot with this.

My ex used to sea fish and I spent my time walking the coastal paths, no-one at work could understand why I spent all my spare time walking alone (with my dog).

I've been ill and am slowly building up my strength. I managed a hour walk, with breaks, yesterday and it felt fantastic.

As well as the health benefits, it's a cheap form of leisure, it's useful to have something you enjoy, that costs nothing.
