www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3529746/Aintree-racegoers-stylish-display-Ladies-Day.html

I went to to Aintree last year and everyone was friendly. It seems mean to shame people because they wore a revealing outfit or is a bit heavy.

Just like every Mail article the paper does not directly insult but leaves it up to its readers to comment insults.

Narp they used to phrase it like that but got a kicking one year. Which must have surprised them because they got away with it for years.

Now they dress up their language, but their aim is the same.

The DM is shit as usual, but it looks like a pretty horrid event. Sitting on freezing concrete in your nice dress surrounded by trash...it's not very glam for a day at the races.

Do they not provide any bins?

Birdsbeesandtrees · 11/04/2017 17:55

I do always thing they must be cold. Maybe I am old.

I went to a summer ball not that long ago in a nice but little short dress and was fucking frozen by the end. I swore I'd never do it again.

RandomDent · 11/04/2017 17:57

Maybe bins are a security issue. They need more litter pickers though.

kathkim · 11/04/2017 18:13

Where I live is always so damned cold - couldn't wear something nice if I wanted too Sad

BabychamSocialist · 11/04/2017 18:18

They do it every year.

I was there this year with friends and there's more humility, friendliness and humour in one of those girls' little fingers than there is in the entirety of that 'newspaper'.

So what if people are dressing cheaply? Or showing off a bit of skin? It's only a bloody horse race - you're there to have fun. Sadly, many on MN are encouraging this 'sport'.

Freshprincess · 11/04/2017 18:19

Same thing every year, really pisses me off. And there's always a thread on S&B pretending to be discussing the fashion, but really a point and laugh exercise.

I saw one photograph of a woman bending over to fix her shoe, wearing a shortish skirt so showing her underwear. The photographer must have been sitting on the floor to get the pic at the angle. If he did that in the middle of the high street on a Saturday afternoon, he'd be lynched.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 11/04/2017 18:20

I'm always mildly amazed that nobody admits to reading the Mail on here and yet there seem to be a lot of links to it - how do people find these things if they won't click on the site? Confused

Still at least you have given them a few more clicks there OP...

CaoNiMartacus · 11/04/2017 18:27

In my mind, the Echo posting pictures of women looking "good" is part of the problem. It's as if they think these "good" pictures will somehow offset the "bad" ones. Both ways, it's still judging women for daring to step out of their boxes and do what they want to do/dress how they want to dress.

herethereandeverywhere · 11/04/2017 19:04

I agree OP.

The vast vast majority of pics I've seen form the day are full of people, mostly women (in the photos), having a really good time. They look like they made a massive effort to get dressed up/do makeup/co-ordinate outfit and they are all smiling, laughing and revelling in the day. Whether they chose to take a coat is a mere detail.

It looks like a marvellous day out and I'd love to have such a bunch of willing, fun, friends to go with because I'd be there like a shot. Right it's definitely on the bucket list!

Persemillion · 11/04/2017 19:26

Lots of well dressed, beautiful women having fun. Nothing wrong with that.

Outrageous is the sea of litter. Not a pretty sight.

JanetBrown2015 · 11/04/2017 19:51

The first photos - the women look fine and I didn't see fat ones. May be they come later but I didn't scroll right down.
