Presiding over a government that is trying to spin doctors and teachers into militants ,

Supporting a chancellor that has failed to reduce the deficit by his own standards and has delivered two hated and u turning budgets in a row, over the death of the British Steel Industry, is attacking renewable energy in times of climate change, is taking support from the ill and disabled is and NOW he has admitted benefiting from TAX AVOIDANCE????!!!!
This is all wrong. How many more years of this?

A family trust is a completely different legal structure. Totally different rules

Naice, the article I read said it was an offshore investment trust. I take from that it was a foreign company holding investments. If it was a private unlisted company, that does make it more exotic than a London listed one, but I'm not sure that makes any difference from a tax point of view.

I've read nothing that suggests his relationship with the company was anything other than as a shareholder. Being a beneficiary of a family trust and a shareholder in investment company (that happens to have been set up by family) convey very different things to me. Based on the information I've seen so far, it's irrelevant that the investment company was set up by his father.

I hadn't read the thread so I'm not aware I was being brazen or being a muppet. I saw the news and was shocked by the look on Corbyns face. He really is quite the nasty little fucker. And I added my comment to this thread because he was being asked to comment on Cameron and it saved me the bother of starting another one.

I have no political loyalties in the Uk. I haven't lived there for 40 years and I left before I could have voted for the first time. But I do come from a family of labour party activists and councillors and I was once part of George Galloways campaigners when he started out in politics with my cousin way back many moons ago. I commented on something I saw on the news and if people want to make more of it than that - please go ahead.

Theoretician · 08/04/2016 13:34

The articles I read (I admit I've read almost nothing) have said nothing about their being a family trust.

A family trust and an investment company that happens to have been set up by family (who made their living in the investment industry) are two very different things.

(I'm posting far to much on this for someone who knows very little and cares even less about this whole issue...)

VertigoNun · 08/04/2016 13:45

I just saw Corbyn on the news just as he set off for work on his bike. He was quite the nasty bugger and showed himself for who he is. There was just something about the way he reached for the phone and the look of he face whilst doing so ..........

Grin @ a look on a face compared to hypocrisy.

Have you seen the GO tweet?

I think I need to see 'the face'- what news channel?

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 13:55

graysanalogy I could not agree more.

Instead of justifying it by saying oh but pensions and ISAs are tax avoidance (minimising it really) let's address the fact there would be NO UK deficit and we would all be better off if the money wasn't offshore.
The NHS would be well funded.
Schools would be well funded.
Police and emergency Servuces would be well funded.
Vulnerable adults and children would receive the support they need.
There wouldn't be potholes (!)
The infrastructure wouldn't be groaning
Society as a whole would be better, happier, healthier.

I don't want a PM that thinks tax avoidance is OK.
It's not OK.

Tiredemma · 08/04/2016 13:59

Well I watched 'the face' video and im still bewildered.

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 14:00

Hmm. Attempt to detract from the focus on Cameron by attacking Corbyn

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 14:06

It's fucking hilarious.

A parallel universe!!!

Man politely asks uninvited journalists to "put it away please" and cycles off to work !

Vs

Man responsible for making the laws around tax lies about his involvement in benefiting financially from laws protecting the finances of the very wealthy whilst simultaneously taking money away from the poor, disabled and the working classes doctors, nurses, steel workers!

The More the Tory press try and pull this kind of trick, the more anger and incredulance will follow.

That is the last I'm saying on this ridiculous off topicking.

Also bewildered.

Nasty little fucker? Where? Why? What did I miss??

JoffreyBaratheon · 08/04/2016 14:13

Is it just me who feels a bit like that pig's face must have, right now? Because it's obvious what he's doing to us plebs, er taxpayers.

wasonthelist · 08/04/2016 14:16

Just listened to bbc radio news - they had a lawyer speculating that the offshore company that Cameron had shares in "probably wasn't set up for tax avoidance". Does anyone have a clue what else it was for?

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 14:18

(Not seen the clip as it sounds very trivial but is he being accused of having a bitchy resting face? Smile )

JoffreyBaratheon · 08/04/2016 14:21

Must admit I have bitch resting face when about to set off on me bike. And am of a similar age to Corbyn.

GreenishMe · 08/04/2016 14:22

It is trivial candy and you're right not to waste valuable seconds of your life watching it. Nothing happens.

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 14:29

joffrey

Are you Corbyn?

LurkingHusband · 08/04/2016 14:32

I wonder what the behaviour of the other investors in Blairmore was ?

Cameron claims his dad paid all taxes due. Did they ?

LittleLionMansMummy · 08/04/2016 14:45

Fucking hell, Corbyn wasn't even out of his house when they started with the questions. That's not doorstepping, that's 'living rooming'. I think he was remarkably restrained in the circumstances. Even politicians shouldn't have to put up with that shit in their own homes - they work in Parliament which has very good public access for reporters.

LurkingHusband · 08/04/2016 14:48

.

To think that David Cameron should resign?
Valentine2 · 08/04/2016 14:49

Is there any petition calling for him to resign? Can anyone link it here?

LittleLionMansMummy · 08/04/2016 14:52

Love it Lurking. But which leftie political comedian?

BobandKate0H · 08/04/2016 14:56

While not his biggest fan,i do not think he should resign.
I know you will all moan at me,but the tax stuff is normal investment done by people from all walks of life - compared to what the euro mp's get up to he is losing money.
It takes billions to fund NHS etc so even if loopholes were "closed" it would only raise a drop in the ocean, but this would also mean nationalisation of all uk banks with, like in cyprus, the state stealing 10% .
BTW I'm as poor as a church mouse, that's just had an enormous tax bill on the very day his wife ran off with another mouse, taking all the cheese.
Other polices may be questionable, but no government is ever perfect.
It may be case of better the devil you know.
