Presiding over a government that is trying to spin doctors and teachers into militants ,

Supporting a chancellor that has failed to reduce the deficit by his own standards and has delivered two hated and u turning budgets in a row, over the death of the British Steel Industry, is attacking renewable energy in times of climate change, is taking support from the ill and disabled is and NOW he has admitted benefiting from TAX AVOIDANCE????!!!!
This is all wrong. How many more years of this?

It would also be a drop in the ocean to reverse the £30 a week cut to ESA for people with disabilities bob

thecheekofthem · 08/04/2016 15:01

£30K received from a rich father acting legally is a little bit less than the unidentified millions and billions being dicussed about other folk.

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:02

And no , it's not better the devil you know. The Tory policies are abhorrent.

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 15:05

But which leftie political comedian?

Jimmy Carr. (Who Stewart Lee accuses of doing a lot of secret work for charity).

LurkingHusband · 08/04/2016 15:09

I know you will all moan at me,but the tax stuff is normal investment done by people from all walks of life

Of course. My dustman has shares in offshore Panamanian companies, and our NDN who is a nurse only works part time on account of her Dutch Sandwich returns.

Not sure of the Mumsnet rules, but perhaps there should be one that only posters from planet earth are allowed ?

LittleLionMansMummy · 08/04/2016 15:10

Ah I did wonder Lurking but probably wouldn't have put Jimmy Carr in the same 'leftie comedian' stable as, say, Ben Elton back in the day. I don't think of his comedy as political satire...

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 15:13

it would take someone on minimum wage two years to save up 30 k

It's a huge sum of money.

If you think it isn't then you are very very privileged .

The fact that so many of you think it's perfectly acceptable for the very wealthy to be able to legally avoid paying the tax they should be is awful.

If those with more money than they need paid it into the system, then there would be enough in the system for civilised things such as social security and free healthcare.

If you support tax avoidance then you support inequality.

And to do that whilst simultaneously cutting provision for the most vulnerable in the society is awful

How can you shrug your shoulders and support that?

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:14

Cameron pilloried Carr but not Gary Barkiw who did the same but also donated to the Tory party.

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:17

Dee I suspect they think it's our fault that we are "poor".

Behooven · 08/04/2016 15:17

I don't like witch hunts and that's what this is

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 15:20

Sorry , typo, I should have said two years to earn 30k. Save on minimum wage? Impossible.

Candykane. They probably do.
Did you see up thread someone said that it's not rich people's fault they were born rich?

Shame the same logic doesn't extend to the poor.

Or even just the working classes like junior doctors and steel workers .

CockacidalManiac · 08/04/2016 15:22

ha! So an intensely privileged, hypocritical PM who had been caught bang to rights is the victim of a 'witch hunt'?
Big hairy bollocks!
Conservative Central Office are busy today.

Tiredemma · 08/04/2016 15:23

I don't like witch hunts and that's what this is

I find it hard to muster up any empathy for this man. His party has destroyed the lives of vulnerable people. I hope he resigns and takes most of his front bench with him.

Eustace2016 · 08/04/2016 15:27

Tax avoidance is lawful and morally good. It is done by any couple where both work to earn £10k a year rather than one on £20k - as they want to take advantage of two tax allowances or where you contribute to a pension or a charity and claim the tax relief or make a gift to a child (which means they pay less inheritance tax when you die). It's a good thing.

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:27

People crying witch hunt make me smile.
It's like when people cry bullying when people disagree with them.

DC has been caught. He's getting flak because of his own actions. I'm sure he can cope. He's not a victim here remember. He's committed tax avoidance.

peggyundercrackers · 08/04/2016 15:27

he didn't make 30k though through this trust - he made 19k over 13 years and he paid tax on all his dividends - not a huge amount of money in anyones books really. he bought the shares for 12497 in 1997 and sold for 31500 in 2010.

I don't get why people are equating what his party does to what he or his father have done? he is the head of a party and that's it really - I doesn't make all the decisions for the party - he has people who work for him make those decisions - he is all but a figurehead.

Eustace2016 · 08/04/2016 15:28

Also if you benefit from family tax planning like Milliband and Margaret Hodge or Cameron it's not really your fault. Even if you think tax avoidance is morally wrong (it isn't) if it's done by your parent you cannot stop them very easily. You could give the money to charity I suppose but the sums Cameron has had are peanuts. He has chosen to earn very little to devote himself to the nation. His chidlren suffer for that but he does it for the good of the country. He could earn a lot more doing something else.

CockacidalManiac · 08/04/2016 15:30

Eustace, I'm not sure which planet you're from, but you're on Earth now. Devoted himself to the nation??!

candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:30

Yes there's an abundance of those £10K a year job...
Tax incentives are not tax avoidance eustace

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 15:32

Peggy, the fact that you think it's not a huge sum of money is astonishing and shows to to be completely out of touch! It's than the majority of the world could ever imagine earning in years!

And he is the fucking prime minister, responsible for the policies and laws of the country!! Of course it matters what he does!!!!

OP posts:
peggyundercrackers · 08/04/2016 15:34

people like Russell brand are much worse than DC IMO - he pretends to be one of the people and is out there mouthing off with the worst of them then he retires to his chauffeur driven car to go to wherever for his next gig. He rented his old home from an offshore company to save 1000s and 1000s and now he buys his next house for £4 million. Brand has also use film companies to sell shares in to raise funds promising tax breaks to his mates...

so yes there are far worst lefties in the world than DC.

deeedeee · 08/04/2016 15:35

Peggy and eustace, perhaps just talk to each other eh?

OP posts:
candykane25 · 08/04/2016 15:35

Is Russel Beand the PM?

peggyundercrackers · 08/04/2016 15:37

deedee he made 19k over 13 years - that's the colossal sum of £1400 PER YEAR or £117 PER MONTH - fuck me I wonder how he survived on such a huge sum of money? no I don't think that's a huge sum of money.
