Minor but aibu?

At cinema the other day. There's this huge cut out style poster for the BFG. The little girl in the film is a cut out too with her skirts rising up behind her.

Ds2 aged 6 thought it funny to put his hand 'up' her skirt. H thought this hilarious and took photos.

I thought it seriously unfunny and said so and well, what a pc bore I am. Small spat ensued. Nice.

No not funny at all
But weird to take pics

OllyBJolly · 18/04/2016 18:21

It's not just a bit of fun though, is it? He's learning about how boys treat girls and men treat women. His dad shouldn't have encouraged this

This

Not funny. It's how everyday sexism starts. It's treating girls as objects to be mocked. Keep going like that and he'll be treating real women in the same way. Is your H usually such a bellend?

Floggingmolly · 18/04/2016 18:35

I'd get the photos off his phone pronto; or the next bbq you go to you're likely to see him and his mates in a corner sniggering like schoolboys... About your little boy Hmm
And if you think that would never happen just think about why he took photos in the first place. It's a great big joke to him, at your child's expense.

OnlyLovers · 18/04/2016 18:46

YANBU. An excellent example of thoughtless everyday sexism. Obviously your son doesn't really know better, but your DH does, or should, and should be guiding him on appropriate behaviour, not encouraging this kind of thing.

I'm personally very happy to be called a humourless/ugly/bra-burning/hairy-arm-pitted/delete or add as you wish feminist about things like this.

JohnCheese · 18/04/2016 18:51

exactly. Thoughtless everyday sexism.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 18/04/2016 18:56

Unacceptable. Part of a wider trend. Let's not teach children to be total arses.

Gabilan · 18/04/2016 19:19

And frankly if being a pc bore means respecting women and girls, you can sign me up.

FavaBeans · 18/04/2016 20:08

For clarity can you ask you dh which bit he found funny? Can he explain why it's funny? Because I agree with you OP.. not seeing the joke. Would Dh think it was hilarious if people were putting their hands up the dress is the pic was your dd?
