To take alcohol to a baby shower

Never been to one before so don't know if it's the done thing! It's around the corner so I'm walking - I thought I'd take some chilled prosecco for everyone but just mentioned it to my friend and she looked at me all disapproving and said you do know it's a baby shower? I don't see the problem, it's not like the baby will get pissed from my breath ffs. It's also on a Saturday evening!

Also, does anyone know is it presents for the baby, or presents for the mum? Or both?

I thought it was obligatory! Actually at the ones I have been to it was just like any other party with a choice of wine or non alcoholic drinks. Most people including mums to be had a glass of fizz to toast the new baby.

I'd also bring it in a bag and suddenly remember you have it after you've sussed out if it's acceptable or not.

Infact I'd probably just bring it and plonk it on a table.

Or you could call the organiser and say "just wondering, since it's a 4.30 start, do you want us to bring food and drink... ?" Then you'll find out if it's Prosecco affair or a Shloer job.

Last baby shower I went to I brought a bottle of fizz (I was pregnant so not drinking anyway) as it felt a bit alien not to. Non drivers all had a glass or two and it was fine. The worst that happens is they take it from you on arrival and don't offer you any and just tea!

At my baby shower there was non alcoholic cocktails and fizzy apple juice for me and there was prosecco and cocktails for my friends.

Take it along with you, I'm sure it will be enjoyed.

To answer by our present question at mine I got a mummy to be pamper box and some things for the baby so it was a mix of both. I did get a lovely cake though

Take it! The ones I've been to have always had booze. They are pretty zzzzz anyway so alcohol will help you through the 'sock game', 'measure the bump game' etc .... SmileWine enjoy your fizz
