To want a "I was brave" sticker for myself after having a steroid injection on my foot joint?

Today I've had a injection of steroids in the joint! It hurt, and it was very, very uncomfortable. I was terrified of the thing beforehand and spent the whole procedure breathing as if I was in labour, trying to keep calm...

After it ended my blood pressure fell and I felt weak, they offered me some water and after a few minutes I left, went to the toilet, put my head down so I wouldn't faint (I frequently have low blood pressure and do faint if I'm not careful).

I can't quite decide if I was a drama queen or if I was ok.

There was a nurse by my side all the time (she offered to hold my hand) so I suppose some people DO freak out and need to be restrained by the nurse?

Please, tell me an ultra sound guided injection in the foot is a bloody unpleasant thing and I was not being precious!

I've given birth twice with no epidural, and I still found the whole thing this morning, where the doctor moves the needle around to get in the right bit incredibly uncomfortable!

Maybe I should get both stickers: "I was brave" AND "Drama Queen". I can be both, right?

I had a steroid injection in my hip joint. I have a high pain threshold, been through chidbirth blah, blah but that was the nost painful thing I have EVER been through so I quite literally feel your pain.

Feet (foot) up and get a takeaway tonight.

Oh, and I did end up holding the nurse's hand

I had steroid injections in my bum and leg with my last two pregnancies and they bloody hurt so I have no idea what it would feel like in a joint poor you

I've had a few in my foot and one into my pelvis. The injections aren't too bad but I'd advise keeping up the painkillers because it can be a bit ouchy when it wears off.

You shall have your sticker if I can have a freaking crown for having 12 into my spine in one session. The consultant patted my hand I told me I was very brave. I felt like a small child and very proud all in one go .

Never had one but sounds horrible. Somehow especially so in your foot - there's no cushioning fat at all in it.

I had a steroid injection in my foot - they put in local anaesthetic and even then it hurt - they added a bit more then and it was OK. If you have had this without any local, the doctor should be shot!

I was just in hospital for a week as my inflammatory arthritis flared really badly . Every day they asked to inject my knee , elbow and shoulder and I refused . I've had two in my knee before and I'd much rather give birth again than have an injection in one of my joints . I am also a needle phobe.

Steroid injections are one of the most painful things I've ever endured. YANBU.

Definitely sticker-worthy. Foot is exquisitely sensitive at the best of times.

I've had steroid injections in my buttock many times and into my wrist joint. They hurt like a bastard. Id rather have the wrist surgery than have another one of those, so have a from me op.

I had that for a frozen shoulder and YADNBU.

I've had them in labour and they hurt more than contractions so I agree you should get a sticker

Mishaps I think they inject the anestetic with the steroids, that's why it's not more painful! It didn't hurt after the injection, which makes me think it's completely numb (but I don't want to touch it!)

Im going for one on friday into the muscle in my bum. The size of the needle is ridiculous.
I shall demand a sticker.

Only if I can have a sticker for having the same put into my heel today. I shouted, a lot, and there was a queue of very worried patients waiting to go in after me. I know now why my heel has been agony for 2 months. My planter was 4 times the size it should be.

The steroids are mixed with local anaesthetic yes so maybe get a bit of pain relief going now before it wears off, rest up and let them do their job. It can also hurt more at first because they have put more fluid into an already irritated space. It will be awesome when they work though OP.

I've had steroid injection into my knee (after local anaesthetic) and definitely think a sticker & should be given afterwards.

First time I had one in my shoulder the GP did it and I was warned it may hurt and not to drive to the appointment or the rest of the day. No pain at all, but it wasn't very effective so I guess it was done in the right place.

Second time was done in hospital with ultrasound guidance, sitting on a normal office chair, one that has wheels and turns, the id a being that I could be positioned correctly (or so I believe), yes it was painful (very) but I managed just with the help of the nurse not to fall off the chair and to get across to the bed to rest whilst my blood pressure normalised.

Next time I will insist on being on the bed first. I was scared.
